Amna is so right that mahir and mehru’s romance looks maternal- I was thinking the same while watching the episode , so I thought If you are trying to show affection to your husband you’d probably hug him, or put your head on his shoulder or even if you want to caress his hair , you’d do it like you do it to your husband not like your child- it was off, definitely off- good catch Amna 👍

I agree that chemistry is missing FROM Hadiqa side. I feel Bilal give cold shoulder off camera he is quit reserved. And in such condition its hard for Co star to switch to other side instantly. However Bilal can.

I agree 100% with Amna. In Dobara, the maternal feel is there and is repetitive almost whenever they are both together. I think it's a lapse in Hadiqa's performance. Also I feel that Bilal is also a bit reluctant in scenes where Hadiqa is trying to romance 😂

I also agree with Aamna, I have been sensing this maternal feel since the the time they are shown as a married couple having a private moment. Either it's a lapse in Hadiqa and Bilal's act or its the director not directing them with proper romantic or intimate gestures. I miss the spark of romance between hadiqa and bilal's act. Very disappointing in this sense. @somethinghaute

I feel the maid has a vital role to play moving forward that's why she is shown more than often for such a character... When Affan's wife will accuse Mahir, maid will be the witness in Mahir's favour.

Dobara: I don't blame Mehru for her distrustful nature. I mean look around her, almost everyone is after her money or has other selfish reasons. She has all reasons to be cautious. I don't think Mahir was strongly in love with Mehru but he also wasn't after her money. He was probably looking for someone who wouldn't abandon him like his parents and girlfriend did. His change of heart is strongly driven by him eavesdropping Mehru's conversation.
Both are victims of circumstances but how things develop is yet to be seen. Bilal has proven yet again that he can handle grey and negative roles with a lot of ease.
I also think it's just in our heads that their relationship looks maternal. We have seen enough couples onscreen where the female lead feeds the male, adjusts his hair or clothes like a mother, but we don't find it odd. It seems maternal here only because we are watching with a mindset that Hadiqa is older.

Dobara: I thought exactly the same while watching Mehru putting back Mahir’s hair. It was a maternal gesture, and was too obvious.
Maher is trying to gain Mehru’s trust, has selfish reasons, Mehru is cautious too. Very natural for both, but eventually both would fall in love with each other. I like this drama because non of the characters are black or white. All have streaks of grey in them and are very interesting. I hope Maher Mehru relationship prevails despite the expected ups and downs, and intrigues by family.

@@saniyakhan3110 Oh yes, I watched the weekend dramas late after the SH review, except for Sinf e ahan. I am surprised you noticed 😊
Frankly speaking sinf e ahan got a bit boring and repetitive. The PMA life was enjoyable to watch for the first time in suneray din and then in ABC. Now it has started to look repetitive with the same kind of situations. Also the propaganda element puts me off. I am more interested in their personal lives which hopefully would be shown in the next episode.
I am probably the only one who is finding Sang e mah’s story not too convincing or real as for now. The concept of Ghag, the character of Hilmand, living in a qabaristan with sparklingly clean clothes and properly gelled hair, Sherzad living with strangers to investigate a 30 year old custom, mastaan Singh murdering to save honour of his fiancée, who was just roaming with him, all looks very exaggerated. I am more excited to know the back story of Haji Marjaan, the murder he committed, his wife and the reason of animosity between the sisters. This track of trio is the best. But I am sure the drama would become interesting in future as the tracks progress.
I am watching Ju bichar gai for Wahaj Ali and overall performances, otherwise it’s too tragic , more because the families who were killed for being pro west Pakistan , their sacrifices seem futile and fruitless now looking at the fact that Bengalis are doing better living independently than they would have had with us. Also, we have learnt nothing from it and are repeating the same mistakes. So the whole scenario of drama looks pointless to me.
As you can see my views are pretty controversial about all 3 major dramas , so better not not write anything till their stories progress. 😂😂 Kuch likhon tu dil se likhon, otherwise, na likhon.😀

Just replying to your review about the JBG you are absolutely right but the purpose of this drama is to let people know about the history what lot of people have gone through this should have been talked about a long time ago but we didn’t, I am happy that at least now we are, may be talking about it without any good or bad learning will help some of us like me to be healed from that trauma Hasan and Amna kept saying that please watch it I tried several times but my tears wouldn’t let me the tragedy what we have been through wouldn’t let me but at least now lots of people know what happened in East Pakistan. Also we are very happy and proud Pakistani as my Father( May Allah rest his soul in peace ) used to say we can’t live here I came to live in my Pakistan I left everything in India for Pakistan and I will leave again everything for Pakistan and he did .

@@rijanayyer3654 The partition of the sub continent was totally justified and the sacrifices were totally worth. That was a matter of living with religious freedom, with equal rights for people belonging to a different religion. In 71 both Bengalis and west Pakistanis were predominantly Muslims. Everything that happened atleast before the war could have been avoided. We were guilty of looking down upon them, forcing our language on them, calling them do takkay ke, not giving them their right to rule, which India took advantage of. As you said, we, the people in west Pakistan had no idea of what went on in east Pakistan during those days. I was surprised to read comments by some Bangladeshis about rapes and war crimes committed by Pakistan which they have not forgotten. Were did all this come from when the Bengalis in west Pakistan remained safe, many stayed back working over here till their currency became better than us, whereas the pro Pakistani were killed in east Pakistan. There is a lot of false propaganda, hidden facts, distrust , bitterness, just don’t know what is true and what is not.

@@rijanayyer3654 But the fact remains that it does not matter now. Bangladeshis are happy and better off, and our establishment is treating people belonging to small provinces with the same highhandedness. All those killings, sufferings and sacrifices, by the Bengalis who were against independence look useless and all that remains is bitterness that would never go away. Humiliation, being treated as an inferior, is something one never forgets.

Also, I dont understand why do actors not read the script before and then later on blame the characters and writers. I mean Zarnish Khan did the same and also Iffat Omer did the same. Dobara: Usually I differ with one or two remarks of your review of this drama but today I completely agree with everything you said about this episode. The episode was slow, the story didn't progress at all, and unnecessary conversations were shown, which made no sense. I was literally yawning while watching this episode though it was not bed time 😂.
And yes I did notice that scene where Mehru was constantly running her fingers through his hair, and to be honest it felt like a maternal gesture; just holding hands would have been an appropriate gesture. I think perhaps she was directed like that by Danish Nawaz (the director) because I have seen BTS videos of this drama (earlier episodes) and one of his previous project - he often acts in front of the actors to show them how to perform a scene.

As far as Mahir is concerned, kids who don't get love from father/mother, they tend to try find it in others. So maybe Mahir likes her motherly touch that he missed all his life.

On one hand, the very pious and religious Dua and family brag about her sacrifice for emaan , and on the other she is shown discontented and would be regretting her decision. Religious Dua has no problem going alone with na mehram boys, and keeps her long hair open for everyone to see under her transparent dupattas.
Mujtaba is shown as a rich, successful businessman, but all he is shown doing in US is sleeping or partying with desis only, with not a single American gora or gori present in them.😄

Dobara. I disagree with Amna on most points. After the craziness of the last 2 episodes, they were quietly showing the aftermath of the shooting. In a drama construct, the viewer needs downtime to appreciate the highs. I think the scenes moved the story forward by adding layers to the characters: Mahir's hidden agendas, Mehru has genuine feelings for Mahir, Zameer is getting darker and darker. The eye-sore was too much screen time for the step-mother. But overall, it was good to see the biological parents thinking of their son, despite their previous bad behaviour - very realistic. I agree that we don't see the romantic gestures from Mehru but you can still feel the love.

  • @ramshasiddiqui8382
    @ramshasiddiqui8382 Před 2 lety +6

DOBARA: Okay, so I feel that this episode was relatively slow in progress but not entirely stagnant because as much as we may not like to see the side characters, it gave a broader perspective about what these people in Mehru's and Mahir's life would react like and behave. The maid's scene was integral in showing the build of trust and loyalty towards Mahir and later on turn out as the savior/defender for Mahir when he'd be inflicted with allegations with regards to Sehar or the business handling, as the OST suggests. there will be a point when Mehru will take Sehar's side when Mahir will be accused.
#HUMTV Moreover, I really wish that they had shown more romantic and intense scenes with Mehru and Mahir together. Because more than being maternal, Mehru's gestures were repetitive with the first from their nikkah night, then hospital day1, and hospital day2. So we have had enough of stroking his hair and rubbing his upper arm. When watching those scenes, the viewer was having a strong urge to take Mehrus's hand off his forehead and perhaps hold his hand or bring it up to her face and show gestures of kissing his hand if not doing it actually. But it was very plain and extended for too long.
Also, #AmnaIsani I don't see Mahir being as expressive or intimate with Mehru either, all he does is hold her hand whenever leading her anywhere, that is all, and the famous 16th episode consisting of the "twirl". It is mostly Mehru who rests her head on his shoulder or holds his arm when walking anywhere. She is a darling, honestly. But there definitely is a need to elevate the romance to the next level.
When Mehru comes back from he hospital she has a totally different makeup as well as extensions ( wavy black) whereas when she is leaving the hospital, her hair is straightened and brown.

Sassi for example was a complete narcissist moron and Pari (from Sannata) made me more angry than sympathetic 😑 Qasim was a complete doormat, Wajih was unreasonable and so was Khyam. Sonia Jahan had no dimensions. Yet I was hooked because the plot was interesting.

Mahir needs that maternal love, it's been a void in his life because of his mothers absence. I think it's this void that Mehru will fill in Mahir's life and then he will fall in love with her.
These examples exist even with Prophet Muhammad SAW, he had a troublesome childhood and his mother was absent most of his childhood. It was Khadija that filled that void in that phase of his life and gave him what he didn't have.
The same with Charles and Camilla. Charles didn't receive love from his mother, she would pet her dog more than she ever touched Charles and that's why Charles couldn't handle childish Diana and was drawn to an older/mature Camilla.

I actually do not agree with the maternal touch about Hadiqa with Bilal: it feels like that more because she is older but this is a very natural behavior for most women with her husband in this situation. All women have a maternal instinct and behavior in them which they do not just show as a mother...women "bemother" their spouses too
Haath pherna etc. ... such a natural thing to do as a gesture of care

    Assalam o Alaykum!
    Amina & Hassan,
I was just watching your review of Prince Charming beyond borders. I belong to an educated family and we all sisters are teachers and lectures. However, we are struggling with the same issue of insensitivity and companionship. I think this is the norm in our society that girls have to strive to make the marriage work but men are not held accountable for anything. The way our children are brought up in an average household is that girls are expected to do all the house chores and look after their father, brothers and later their husbands and sons and boys are boys... The dilemma is that the expectations for the girls have raised. Now, a girl should be working, besides, cooking, cleaning and looking after the family. While for men it is still the same...holding the sirtaj title. Women have been dehumanised so much that their feelings and emotions do not matter. Their likes and dislikes do not matter which is the cause of depression and mental health issues. The best example of modern slavery. However, you can not pin point it...because again...kma k Lata hai, koi galat kaam nahi krta nashukri ourat tu phir bhi khush Nahi...

The analysis of Ibne E Hawwa and Dobara seems to be coming from very closed minds. Such characters, like played by Heera, do exist in this very world. What's wrong in believing them. The reviewers are sounding very restricted in their outlook. Why can't a house maid miss the boss ( especially the sensitive boss)? isn't this very humane to do? The teams of the above mentioned dramas seem to be more creative and convincing than the reviews presented here.
I think here these two people should be reviewing the presentation and construct of the content from an artistic, how convincingly it is presented, entertainment value, and the over all presentation and mass appeal angle than on the story lines,. Story lines are totally the prerogative of the writers, and they are doing a wonderfully creative job out of it.

About the Instagram follower debate and getting opportunities, aren’t most of these actresses and actors with lots of followers very VERY experienced? I honestly don’t think many people get roles based off online presence. I can only think of maybe alizeh shah (pretty bad actress imo) and dananeer (fairly good) and maybe Minal khan who might be chosen due to popularity. Lmk if you can think of any guys that got opportunities just cause of follower count. I actually think it’s the other way around for most of the industry. The top followed celebs include Ayeza, Mahira, sajal, maya, Yumna, Saba, Danish, feroze, humayun who have all been working for like over 10 years and are established as pretty amazing actors. If they get roles it’s because of their acting skills. I actually remember how Ayeza’s followers significantly increased after MPTH and especially after chupke chupke. It proves that her skills are making her even more popular. In recent times when rang mahal was airing I remember seeing sehar khan gain like 30000 followers in one day which is insane. I didn’t watch the drama but this kinda proves that the popularity of your work can impact your follower count and it’s rarely the other way around. Just look at Ahmed Ali Akbar getting a huge role like Parizaad with under a million followers. The drama got like 20 million views per episode
