The first time, he was told to hit the rock was a picture of punishment for their unfaithful murmuring to who was going to come and give Himself as the once and for all payment for our sin,.. and seeing how He'd already paid by been struck this first time at the bitter waters of Moriah, all Moses was supposed to do this second time was to speak to the rock, And I've heard it said in the original language it says "and HE will give you HIS water,... but Moses, in his anger struck it again and twice at that, giving the picture of Him paying again for what had already been paid for, Also very importantly, is that by raising his voice at them in anger and striking the rock he spoiled the chance God was going to use to show His Love and Compassion for them.

Not complicated. It's a matter of trusting, and being obedient. After hearing that he would not be entering into the Promised Land, because of his disobedience, Moses didn't kick up a fuss about it. He knew why, and accepted the consequences.

I raise my children as individual beings, I love them and accept their journey as they see it. I feel that everyone is a shepherd in a way. Listening to this I realize that people like this place hope in their understanding of God and who he is God
Rather than us trying to understand God
We make our own meaning of God and try and make it make sense
Rather than not leaning on our own understanding.
Instead we decide what is good and what is evil rather than seeking life

Then ask: if the modern Jews are Gods chosen what did God do with the other 11 tribes of Israel ? All of Israel were not Jews but this is what they want you to believe. Please wake up . Judaism with its roots in the Babylonian Talmud is the tradition that Christ denounced and why they killed him. I will pray

1st Corinthians 10:4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of the spiritual Rock that followed them, that Rock was Christ. I think that’s a must add in the story. Also his sister Miriam had just died so I can see why he was a bit extra frustrated with his ever complaining people where his sister just passed away. And he multiply struck the Rock that was Christ.

Godly words for healing and such a beautiful insight to ponder upon. I'm just working on the pattern of the shepherds and Moses the Good Shepherd wasn't even on my list, he's at the top now. The role of shepherd is like the role of a father - to provide and guide, protect and correct. Without a shepherd or protective loving force guiding us through dangerous territory or dangerous times we are sitting ducks and lambs to the slaughter. If the men don't Pray, the people will be Preyed Upon. Our first and most important line of defence against threat and predators is strong prayerful males uniting together arm in arm...creating a circle of defence. Like elephants or whales...they unite and protect together, as one. Not abandoning their role, nor thinking about their own safety...they circle and protect the old, the young and the females. It's truly beautiful to witness and watch. That's protective loyalty no matter what. So remember - Prayerful IS Powerful and thank you to all the men of Israel that pray for us all and study Torah. God Bless Israel, God Bless You and God Bless Your Family.

Forgive me but, if Mosheh realized that he probably sealed his fate by not speaking to the rock then why did he beg Abba to the point where Abba basically told him to shut up and live with the punishment? That doesn't make sense. IMHO I believe Mosheh got so angry with the stiff necked disobedient people that he lost his temper and struck the rock forgetting Abba's command in that moment and not showing the power of Elohim to all of the people. Everybody seems to forget that Mosheh in this whole episode never repented for what he had done and still because of the grace of Elohim he showed Mosheh the land from the mountain top before he died.

Also, the number of times the rock was smote is significant. Why two times?
And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?
Who is this Rock that spills out the water?

Our Father knows we are a part of him forever. The son has been given to us. Because mankind, refused the father! The Word, which is our lord is our only salvation! All will be saved, for he has declared it. He has the key to heaven and hell . He fulfills his parents will.

Maybe not going into the promised land was in actuality a gift to Moshe Rabainu (Alav b shalom) after all those years of being a babysitter and lion tamer...

In short, Moses chose the people over YHWH. I think there is a greater principle at play. So many times taking an action in a seemingly impossible situation is easier than saying the right words.

Now this is a story with a happy ending and a serious twist. This bible is a big movie with more plots and twists than Hollywood could ever produce. Praise G-d for His infinite mercies.

12:46 if moses wants to die with his flock, he could have asked the Lord that he dies in his sleep before stepping into the promised land. He need not disobey the Lord. Not a good example to Israelites.

Rabbi Friedman’s amazing insight made me in tears. God’s punishment on Moses’s action was not fit on crime, because there’s no crime made. Mose’s love and compassion to his flocks made him to bury with them in desert knowing there’s milk and honey in Canaan was profound message to me. Apparently, God created there’s the way man thinking or dealing with on every situation or issues basically different than woman. That’s why God created man first then woman as helper not as leader. That’s why I love Judaism. you never get this kind of spiritual interpretation of Bible in church. Thank you!🙏♥️

Gnostic here and listening to you makes me absolutely happy. Even when I feel lost your calm voice makes me feel better. You have such a calm and traditional accent which for some reason always puts me at ease.

What about the staff that Moses hit the rock with? I think the power was in the staff that God gave Moses
