    The truth is that people should WANT to do Mitzvahs not because they expect the reward but because they want to please their Loving Father(Creator), because He created them for the purpose to give them the reward . So He really loved us first, so why shouldn't we love Him in return? I want to do as much as I can to show my love to G-d, I just wasn't taught properly how to do it. So if I am rejected by God because I didn't do Mitzvahs, it doesn't mean i will stop loving G-d, I'll just won't get a chance to be closer to Him. Doing Mitzvahs is exactly that: being closer to G-d. So i want to learn everything about how to get closer to my Creator.

      Yes, if you think about the standard teachings of who and what Hashem is in Jewish thought, everything he says is correct. It seems so out of place now, the almost stand-alone idea that Hashem doesn't need anything. It comes from the idea that Hashem is perfect, but perhaps the understanding of perfection is off.

    • @franyk7071
      @franyk7071 Před 4 lety +1

      Perfection is intrinsically perfect. Consequently, hashem, can not need. He can, however, want. In our limited understanding of the divine, we must, unfortunately, make use of human terms and human language in its limited state to ascribe feelings to the divine in order to make sense of our place in creation.

      @@franyk7071 I thought you listened to the shiur, but either you didn't or just completely disagree with him, which isn't how your first comment sounded. So God needs others to be holy, to join Him in His need to be holy. Because needing to eat is not a need but a handicap. Whereas God who can choose He does not need anything, nor does He have handicaps. So if He commands you, therein lies His need, because being free neverthless still felt the need to command you to be holy, as He is holy. His need is truth, justice, mercy, kindness, love, laws, order, self control, patience, discipline, goodness, piety, devotion to right doing et cetera. God is obsessed with being Holy, He needs you to be holy, because he needs others to be holy, so He's not alone in doing holiness.

    Rabbi Manis, thank you for this post. G-d is love. I don’t love Him because He is love. I love Him because I am His creation, and He loves me because I am His creation. You said my King would take a bullet for me. What is the bullet? The bullet is death which Adam and Eve brought into this world by means of their sin - i.e. their choice to disobey. G-d had to kick them out of the Garden of Eden as they couldn’t remain in His holy Presence anymore being sinful now. From that moment on, humanity became forever separated from G-d. What does my King do to solve this problem of eternal separation? You said it! He comes down to earth to assume my place and take the bullet for me. But the most brilliant part is that by taking the bullet, He Himself does not remain dead, but rose again and lives forever. He is the High Priest Who has made atonement for Adam’s original sin as well as all of humanity’s sin. But just like Adam chose to disobey G-d’s commandment, we have to choose to accept His atoning sacrifice to live and be united with G-d again. How magnificent are G-d’s ways! Peace and grace to you from our G-d the Creator of the Universe.

But over time when we grow up we obey our parent because of love and respect(leveticus 19:3). Just like our life. We all are a child in this world. God want us to obey him because of love not fear. And that is true love. Because people usually dont realise the gift from god which is our life. People think why should i obey this god i did not get anything from him? People forget about the gift of life.

    If God "does not care" whether we sin or not, then why The Torah? Why the laws of Moses? By saying that God does not care whether we sin or not only comforts the mind of an immoral man, but certainly does not go according to the will of God. For this "rabbi" to even question such an obvious answer is to dwell in his own ignorance..
    Understand that calling yourself a rabbi does not necessarily make you one, at least not before God.

      Dear Hernandez, I don't think you understand the Rabbi of that you speak of so unkindly, answers many question put to Him by Children, and adolescents, It would not be wrongful to ignore a question asked in innocence.

    GOD, really exists,..do we realy exists? Compared to God, we are nothing, so who and what we do really doesnt mean anything,...yet God is the creator, and we are created from God, so do we exist? Nope we still are nothing yet we are only something if God decides we are someone, ... a person really exists because God God saids he exists, adam and eve exists because of God, all others did not exist....

      My friend, you are the classic Christian taking 1 line out of an hour lecture and using it to fit your belief system. Listen to the rest of the lecture and the entire theology in essence contradicts that if christianity. God bless you

    if He didn't create the universe then he is not God. also the rabbi misses the point; God being love and powerful IS what He is like. calling God a 'loser' is blasphemy in any religion. what a truly dreadful talk.

      Not in the sense of what we call a loser. The more powerful someone is the more vulnerable he can be. God is all powerful and being a loser doesn't diminish his greatness. It just means that he loses out.
      When we as humans beings hurt each other - god loses. It gives him much pain and loss. But it doesn't diminish his greatness.
