  • The Retrax XR Tonneau Cover is one of the strongest bed covers on the market. We chose the Retrax XR because we liked the aluminum structure that gives the cover strength and the built-in bed rail (Trax Rail System) so you can customize what you want to place above it.

    Nice video! I have a Pro XR, myself and thought I'd share some feedback I found along the way. The Pro series is actually rated for 500 pounds of "evenly distributed" weight, which I found impressive!
    One tip I found most helpful was Retrax recommends a slight upward tilt of their rails to help trap water into the rail, channel it into the canister, and out of the drain tubes. This also helps with how well the cover rolls. While one person handles the ratchet, one can stand on the outside of the truck's bed and place their palms on the rail with their fingers inside the rail where the ball bearings roll. Press firmly down with your palms while twisting upward with your fingers. This helps achieve a slight upward tilt and I noticed an improvement.

    Friend, I have a question for you, install a mx4d backflip cover and it filters a lot of water and the back of my truck has carpet and I would like it to be kept without any type of leaks, I ask you; This product that you are promoting on CZcams has some waterproof, but it leaks or is completely waterproof on the inside.

    Having been around the block a few hundred times... It looks like the cover/lid on the locking mechanism won't last too long before it doesn't stay in place.

    I have a 2021 DCSB and ordered one that I'm going to be installing myself which hopefully arrives next week. A couple of questions.
    1. Can the Toyota tie downs that slide onto the side rails still be used or will they interfere with the cover? I'd like to install them before sliding on the second T-nut on each side to give me more utility.
    2. How much room is there from the bottom of the Retrax cannister to the base of the bed? I think I'd rather have the drain holes as high up as possible so cargo won't hit the tubes as much.
    Thanks. Your video gave me a lot of good information.

    • @SnailTrail4x4
      @SnailTrail4x4  Před 3 lety +1

      There should be plenty of room for the tie downs on the rail. There was maybe 9-12" of room under the case of the cover. Either way would work, but for the best water flow straight down drains would function best

      I'm doing this install as a DIY--the composite bed already has drainage holes near the cab. I'm just going to let the cannister drain there and nature will run its course. The bed mat should keep anything critical above the drainage level except under the most extreme conditions.
