For whatever reason, I felt like the end of 2023 was so far away when the announcement and first trailer dropped, but now looking back, my life then is borderline unrecognizable today. So much has happened since the beginning of last year, and the time flew by. Sometimes 2022 feels like 2 years ago. So excited for this last wave and to now have almost 100 tracks to race on. I’ve been having a blast racing them all with friends I’ve made since!
Bro back then my girlfriend was just a friend that I barely knew, ukraine hadn’t been invaded yet, Covid was still mainstream news, I had an entirely different friend group, and so much more lmao.
I was almost a different person then.

I’ve had 6 different hair colors, my friend group is completely different now that there’s more members, I was dating somebody then, I was in school, I had just started my first job that week and have started my third not long ago, I was still recovering from a gnarly ED, I’ve had two family road trips, and I’ve had a good few life altering experiences since then. As a person I’m quite different. I totally thought the end of this year would never come but also felt like it would flash before my eyes and go into 2024 like nothing happened. Feels like tomorrow it’ll be 2030. Wonder what will have happened by then..
When wave 1 released, I thought Mario kart was overrated and I didn’t care.
Now I was screaming like a maniac while watching the wave 6 trailer. The growth is crazy
Wave 4 released on my birthday n the last wave is releasing on my sister's birthday. What a coincidence. It's been a helluva ride for MK8 Deluxe.

As one who's found immense enjoyment in the Booster Course Pass since inception, it's wonderful to see just how far it's come. After Mario Golf: World Tour, this is my second favorite DLC in any Nintendo game.
what about the entirity of Torna, DK and Rabbids adventure, all of Octo Expansion and The Champions Ballad+ Age of Calamity etc, Super Smash Brothers and all that?
@@sunnycideup4725 The Super Smash Bros. games handled DLC quite well. Adding in fighters, stages, and music for a modest price was fair.
I can't speak about those other games.

Is there courses i wish made the cut and sad about? Yes (toads factory airship fortress)
Overall 9/10 dlc
during the wii rainbow road section, donkey kong is shown jumping over a part of the track

My life has never felt this complete before now that Wii Rainbow Road is included the game.

Wave 1 is probably the worst wave. A bunch of meh courses, one okay course (ninja hideaway) and one good course (coconut mall).

I don’t know why they gave us 8 Wii courses, but as a Mario kart Wii enjoyer it makes me happy!
(I’m also a MK7 fan, so I’m a bit sad we only got a couple 3DS courses 😔)
And we got 2 of the worst ones from 3ds too 😭

I wish we had an HD remaster of Maka wuhu. That would have looked sick. I feel 7 gets way too much hate, the tracks in that game are extremely underrated.
@@sushi287 man I’m nostalgic for almost all the courses in MK7, it’s the one I played the most when I was a little kid along with the Wii. I was so happy when Rosalina’s ice world was revealed!

Wave 2 has some tracks that I like, so I’d say it’s the second worst. Wave one is easily the worst wave for me. All the tracks are boring and have really bad textures.
Sky High Sundae music and reveal gives me chills every time for some reason, i love that stage😭

I remember I didn’t really feel excited for the booster pass when it first released, then Wave 4 got me surprised, and then Wave 5 got me to finally buy it, now I can’t WAIT FOR WAVE 6 IT’S GONNA BE AMAZINGGGGGGG

Watching all of these I notice that there are lot of drivers and kart combos that stay the same throughout multiple wave showcase videos. Like Mario in the standard kart and also the B-Dasher with characters like DK on that yellow bike and toad on that blue motorbike kart (I don’t know the names for them all). I wonder if most if not all the tracks were finished before wave 1 even released. Although DLC characters being in the later waves throws some complications in the mix.
My guess is that it’s their canon vehicles. Idk something along those lines

@@rustyshackleford234 tbh I liked sunset wilds on GBA but didn't care for it in either tour or 8, because compared to other GBA remakes in tour/8, it barely got updated aside from some small hills.
Tracks like ribbon road, cheese land, Riverside Park, snow land, boo lake, etc got really neat updates that felt mostly true to original but also felt very fresh and beautifully modernized to fit in with the modern standards of track design.
Sunset wilds however felt like it still belongs in the GBA era with it's same flat basic layout, even if the sunset worked, it still feels flat and outdated. Same with most SNES remakes in 8, except BC3 which looks amazing and beautifully modernized.
Ironically, sky garden kinda was the opposite to sunset wilds, it was changed alot but lost alot of its original charm and magic in the process.

Overall, the representation of wii is enormous..in my own opinion besides mk8 deluxe, wii is my other favorite as it was a staple part of my childhood..others too.
Ive pretty much played every game in the series (even some on its original hardware) and whatever's here to come wether itll go by mk9 or X, ill 100% play it no hesitation. this might be the end of an era for 8 but its time to move on to things bigger and better for all of us.

Contender for best paid DLC in any video game ever made? IMO it probably is. Literally doubled the base game's track count for $25.

There’s said be a new Mario Kart for the Switch 2 in 2025, and I like to think it’ll bring back the tracks that didn’t make it into MK8DX. And ONLY those tracks, as more than half the tracks ever made have improved graphics in MK8DX. HD tracks in one game, HD tracks in the next game. I also like to think Nintendo will slowly add them the same way they did here, in the form of 6 waves(on a 2nd page, like this game). And alongside those remakes, it’ll obviously have a lot of new tracks too. Am I scaring you with all these details?

Wave 3 and 6 had the best rainbow roads and wave 5 had the best tour track which was Vancouver Velocity, wave 3 came out with Maple Treeway and DK Mountain came out with Wave 4, your wrong with the release dates
@@OG124Xyeah my favorite rainbow roads are the ones from double dash, MK7, and Wii. I was really sad when we got none of them in the base game, glad we have the DLC!
Maple Treeway is in Wave 3, and DK Summit is in Wave 4.
I find it odd how there was 4 characters for the medium & heavyweight classes but not a single lightweight character.
I hope we get some battle tracks with some lightweight characters in the future in no way am I complaining tho as I am over the moon with what we have gotten so far
Now that its over lets talk about all the wasted slots, besides tour stuff. So many things you could replace these with, oh and sorry Daisy Circuit, but Toad Factory should have been picked in its place

Shroom ridge is one of the better wave 1 tracks but I wouldn’t really call it “the best”, also waluigi pinball is easily the best track of wave 2.
