I bought a '78 bandit Trans Am in 1978. I was 22 at the time. Saw the movie at drive-in theater in that car. When the movie ended and I slowly cruised outta there, people were cheering and honking their horns. I felt like Burt Reynolds, if only for moment. The man's a legend and so is the car. The man that bought the car from me is selling it back to me next month. Completely restored. I got goosebumps just thinking about owning it again.

Bill, I remember that scene in that 🎬! Deliverance, was a disgusting movie, watching those back yard hillbillies ( white trash) with three teeth in their mouths each, try to rape and sexually humiliate those other two full grown men. But came out with that Bow & Arrow and saved the day.
Re: Smokey and the Bandit, he is a legend, and so is the car. The 77 Y82 SE TA loaded with all the bells and whistles and the 78 Y88( golden edition) with gold velour, are by far, my top two favorite Trans Ams, followed by the 89 TTA indy pace car, followed by the 81 Nascar Edition TTA, indy pace car. The Nascar TA came with red Recardo seats, with red carpeting, and black door panels. Both the 80 and 81 TTA came with beautiful oyster white paint to. To bad those TTA's, couldn't get out of their own way...lol😂

This is just a promo car. Never saw screen time. It's basically a regular TA that Universal owned, and toured around, and that's it. It has a universal sticker and some memorabilia. I'd say $40k for the signed hat, jacket, and promo material and $250,000 (at MOST) for the car.

By the time we got to Colorado the rear springs were permanently messed up. So the car sat low in the back. That summer was great. Too funny! My Dad is 68 years old. He's doing pretty well after a scare that he'd given us here recently and just spent a week in the hospital. Due to heart failure. He's been okay here in there. But, he raised me of 85 and my two older brothers of 80 and 81 and my sister of 1991 by him self. He always says his first brand new TransAm was before the movie ever showed and his first Brand new car was a Dodge Duster and a few years later he told my Uncles wife when they'd went out to eat one day and he'd seen an earlier 70's model TransAm that was white with the blue birds that he was going to have one of those one day and he actually ordered it in 1977. It was black and gold with the newer facial. His didn't have the leather interior though. He had the red cloth interior and in 1979 he drove the silver 10th anniversary off the showroom floor that he'd purchased for my mother. And in 1993 he drove an all black one off the showroom floor. The 79 was all I could remember though. It was bad ask! The 93 was absolutely beautiful! He sold it in 2000 with less than 45,000 miles on it for $14. Back in 2017 we got him a 1980 that's totally redone. It's just not the same. But, to go back and look at the silver 10th anniversary TransAm case folder or the manifold with all the options and the old papers that are all dingy and shows the price with all the options is just crazy. It's a pretty plastic cover that holds open and actually has all the stuff, options and a picture of the 79. Funny how times changed. He never liked the 82-92. But, I loved them all!

Bought a ' 79 Bandit T/A brand new off the dealer's lot from Moody Pontiac in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. It was gorgeous but rarely removed the t-tops because it was so hot. The car cost $9,250.00.
