Should of won an Oscar. This performance was so brilliant and unique. Jackie was able to combine a funny goof sheriff , but a sheriff that was actually a good competent smart police officer nonetheless. It makes his character so believable and likable. I think people overlook this aspect of sheriff Buford T Justice. There is no one that could duplicate this performance.

the best thing about this film! Mh dad and I watched it on vhs all the time and I'll never forget his laughing at Bufords lines. We even had the same 77 Trans Am when I was a kid. My mom and my great aunt took me to see this the weekend it opened. I was 10 years old. It was funny then but as I got older and continued to watch it regularly (as any normal Southerner does) it just got funnier as I caught all the adult humor I missed as a kid. I too use these quotes on a daily basis. It’s part of my DNA.

My mom and my great aunt took me to see this the weekend it opened. I was 10 years old. It was funny then but as I got older and continued to watch it regularly (as any normal Southerner does) it just got funnier as I caught all the adult humor I missed as a kid. I too use these quotes on a daily basis. It’s part of my DNA.
