**IMPORTANT INFORMATION**
Due to miscommunication from Eazeye I am mistakenly referring to this monitor as a Reflective LCD display. It is in fact a Transflective LCD display, so please keep that in mind. While the technology is similar, it is not identical. The main problem is that there is an existing issue regarding this between SVD and Eazeye, and now I am caught in crossfire between them. I was never informed about this and in fact Eazeye kept referring to the product as RLCD/TLCD display in our communication and some of the material sent to us.
Since then, they have decided to make a distinction between RLCD and TLCD but have neglected to inform me about this being a thing at all. Hence, I keep saying RLCD instead of TLCD.
I decided to pull the video down (at first) and then reconsidered, as I think that the showing of the product is more important than a technical distinction between the two technologies.
I am very unhappy with this turn of events, as I strive to deliver complete and correct information, but in this case, external factors have had an effect that my video contains such erroneous content. Please keep that in mind. Thank you.
Thank you for watching and if you liked the video, like and subscribe :)

We want this in a laptop! With a semi gloss or matte screen and EMR stylus.
Some panels in the past were designed to replace a Lenovo or other famous laptop brand’s panel (pixelqi). It’s a good idea for Eazeye to target the framework laptop. It avoids the hassle to find an OEM for laptops.
That's the dream. Right now I use a BOOX Note Air 3C with USB tethering as my laptop screen.
@@matthewroloff5095 What screen sharing app do you use?
Thanks for your nice review, as usual!
How would you (roughly) compare the purely reflective brightness with other reflective screens that you tested? Do you think the semi reflectivity hinders the capacity to retain the ambient light ?
Great video first of all. However, after watching the video I still can't find the answer to my simple question: does this thing have the same experience as RLCD? How are they comparing to each other in your experience? Based on your updated comments I am still confused. Most people don't care how the two technologies differ, all we want to know is how the experience are different (or the same). This is the most important piece of information missing in your video and I hope you can provide some clarity on this.
Hello, can you tell me, this monitor vs Eyemoo S1? Which is better? This backlight is better front light on S1 for eye? Thanks
I use a similar traditional LCD panel as a display in my van, one issue I have with it is that adjusting the backlight from daylight to night takes quite a bit of effort. I would really love it for such portable displays to have a connection that allows for external control of the lighting (either analog control or a toggle between a bright and dim setting)
Hello Voya , any video,on the 2 new kobo colour ?
For the maker of these products: prepare this technology for the boating industry and you're gonna make BANK. GPS screens, navigation instruments, luxury screens for boats. They all desperately need something like this.
does anyone know how good is this regarding gaming?
is it better this the other eazeye moitor or the remonitor svd?
and also for eyestrain? thanks
Looks great outside! Any app that needs colour calibration means more work. Is it possible that the colour cast was coming from the front light?
It's a backlight, and yes, there is some, but it's also the nature of the wide range LEDs used and the lighting conditions.
@@MyDeepGuide OK, sorry, I thought you said it was a front light... t=1363
Yeah, I kept making the same mistake because I reference the front light 99% of the time for the devices on this channel, so unfortunately I made that mistake a couple of times in this video. But this device has a back light, not a front light.
Can I use it like SVD without frontlight and backlight? Because from what I see You use backlight as 30% or something in Your examples. I would like to switch off backlight completely, will it work? Thanks for review
Yes you can and I have plenty of examples with the backlight turned off and the outdoor examples are all with the backlight off.
Good to see real E-ink Alternatives appearing out of the woodwork. It is just too bad that this thing is so expensive- especially being a monitor rather than a tablet.
The plastic rocker's going to break first... and it reminds me of those Macs that came out some years ago which you could double up on as a mirror. As mentioned, maybe some kind of protector could deal with the mirroring issue as well as the smudges, but to the main point... how is it easier on the eye than a regular LCD?
This looks like a great alternative to e-ink. No ghosting nor full refresh needed. It’s ok if the color isn’t as vibrant as from an lcd. It’s a little strange that it’s so glossy though.
I’m guessing that the higher resolution rlcd is, the less light could be reflected back? (Duller and darker)
Wonder how's the battery life if this was use on tablet or phone screens 😮
The original model 3ds has a transflective LCD.
You can actually use it outdoors in bright sunlight, but it's not really a great experience.
With the backlight off, can you see the screen well with a desk lamp in a dimly lit room?
No.
@@MyDeepGuide Good to know. Thanks. Dasung just told me they're releasing their 12" paperlike monitor next month, so I'll wait for that and Boox's offerings.
@@hughhassell3495 Colorful RLCD monitor? Or eInk? Could you please provide info about it?
Is this any better than a normal LCD with the brightness set to 30%?
Definitely
Welcome to the side taskbar club! Sadly they killed it in windows 11
Hence, me skipping Win 11 for that and many other reasons.
Recent news showed that Microsoft considered adding ads on the start menu.. And it’s a shame that windows 10 is approaching EOL.
@@yensteel They already have tons of ads there.
Only makes sense when you have a screen much wider than it is tall.
On my laptop I use side taskbar and on my work computer I have the monitor in portrait mode and use a bottom task bar, It's great!
BTW: The product box has a blatant grammatical error. It should be World’s First, not Worlds First.
