Thanks for the video , been having a hell of a time, then I finally figured it's the damn original cable was the problem , so I ordered the new cable today.
thank you that video did what the 100s of other videos I watched didn't do well done ive been riding wit just front brakes couple close crashes but thanks to this video I have breaks I thought it was the pads thanks again
Great video! I read in a forum somewhere that the "shorty" cable solves 75% of the Blaster cable brake problems. That and keeping the caliper clean. Thank you for this "how to" upload.
Ur video helped me out big time I have a blaster and I'm changing the back brakes and couldn't figure out y the brakes were to tight now I know I gotta turn the dial peice thanks
Thanks for the video, just picked up the blaster and am in the process of fixing the rear brake. My question is the rubber boot covers on the sides on the rotors are they greased at all? Or are they just on the axle dry? Probably a dumb question.
Been fighting with this shorty cable set up for awhile...had it working for one day and the cable snapped so I got another one and now the pin inside the caliper doesnt line up with the hole so I'm assuming I need a new caliper as their is no way to adjust. Any advice ?
Hello ,,, I need your help. I can not find that same rear break caliber. Where and what part number or any information can you help me. I orded what I thought was the correct caliber and it was wrong. I have the exact same as you....
Hello. at 9:56, that metal threaded bit which connects the cable to the caliper snapped in half and part of it is stuck in the caliper. I've removed the rest of the cable but I cant put a new one in with the broken piece there. What can I do to remove it?
i was rebuilding my rear caliper and shattered the plate guide, they dont make or sell that part anymore. how could i get one fabricated or what could i use to substitute for this part? this was the part # 2xj-25689-00-00. its # 16 in a part diagram. i cant seem to find a blue print or a schematics for it to even take into a tool and die shop, or a machine shop. are there any substitute parts or an alternative part# to order from?
I have a faulty identical brake calliper to the one In this video, I can’t find a replacement anywhere and the original blaster callipers don’t look like they’ll fit neither
@@Ruben-vo5sp i did manage to find a working complete caliper replacement. best is to upgrade to hydraulic brakes....they will work much better than basic cable brakes...they do cost more and are an easy enough to install
8:30 I just got done doing this to replace my pads and I was ready to cut the fucking cable and go no back brakes finally after a long soak in oil mixed with carb cleaner it came free with some vigorous force
Ouch, my pads came with new o-rings. Honestly, I'd check a plumbing supply house (or maybe an automotive), they normally sell individual o-rings in a zillion miscellaneous sizes. Best of luck !
My brakes get really tight with just me tightening down that cover with three bolts... are my pads to thick or any other issues that can cause that? Please need help. Would really appreciate a reply
The "old" or factory original cable runs from the handlebar brake lever to the rear foot brake pedal to the rear caliber. The "new" "shorty cable" eliminates the cable between the handlebar lever and the foot pedal, leaving you with just a cable between the foot pedal and the caliper. This cable for the front handlebar is used for the parking brake.
I did a quick search and didn't see one made by Motion Pro. Honestly, I don't remember which brand I purchased. Ours came from EBay and was aprox. $20-$25.
$16.75 Amazon .... I love yamaha, but why didn't they go with juice brakes from the beginning ? Talk about your design flaw ! So many kids riding around with sheety binders
Great video, i know im 10years late. However to find the pin # “ 2xj-25734-00-00” It’s hard cause the kit don’t come with the pin smh… I have everything except the pin..
Maybe its been 10 years later but thank u for the good vid ❤
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to make it.

Been using this video for a while. The parts that came out before the pads took a year to soak. Been using no brakes for a bit. Lmao 😂

Hello ,,, I need your help. I can not find that same rear break caliber. Where and what part number or any information can you help me. I orded what I thought was the correct caliber and it was wrong. I have the exact same as you....
13:10 what the hell is that called I been trying to figure this out all night I need a new one of what ever that is mine is missing a ball bearing
can you do a video of taking apart the caliper. me and lots of people need to see how to take it apart.
Can you send me a link for the brakes? And any other good place to buy 2000 blaster parts
I used EBay for the cable and pads
Where to find a new caliper
What is the brand of the caliper I can’t find it anywhere
Nissin vitosperformancedotcom has them sometimes
Can you send me a link to the bearing carrier ?

You might try "wedging" some needle nose pliers or maybe a screwdriver in to twist it out, Good Luck !

What kind of oil did you use to coat around the brake pad to keep it from sticking?
Lithium grease, just a tiny amount.
8:30 I just got done doing this to replace my pads and I was ready to cut the fucking cable and go no back brakes finally after a long soak in oil mixed with carb cleaner it came free with some vigorous force
+tara shay It can be tough, they have a tendancy to "seize" up! Glad it worked out for you !
thank you thank you thank you
+chance7536 You are Very, Very, Very welcome !
what can i do if i need the o-rings? cant seem to find them anywhere?

See in the video 17:45 and make sure you have this adjusted out so everything spins freely, then slowly work it in, tightening the brakes. Good Luck !
beano52 yes thank you took me a while to get thee concept of it but got it down thank you! Really appreciate it💯
Is that the original caliper for that blaster I have an 01 but when I search up calipers they don't look like mine. Mine looks exactly like yours
+pizzie Lapriz That is the original that came on a 1999
Aftermarket calipers will vary from manufacturer to manufacture but they all pretty much are the same with a couple housing variation s
What's the difference between the old cable and the new one u put in?
The "old" or factory original cable runs from the handlebar brake lever to the rear foot brake pedal to the rear caliber.
The "new" "shorty cable" eliminates the cable between the handlebar lever and the foot pedal, leaving you with just a cable between the foot pedal and the caliper.
This cable for the front handlebar is used for the parking brake.
You didnt watch the video.
Where did you get the shorty cable?
Does motion pro make a short cable for the blaster? i found a motion pro one but im not positive about it being a shorty
I did a quick search and didn't see one made by Motion Pro. Honestly, I don't remember which brand I purchased. Ours came from EBay and was aprox. $20-$25.
Do you have a link for the cable?
I got mine of EBay, search Blaster rear brake cable. Between $20-$25
What brand cable is that,
I got mine on ebay, Search "Blaster Shorty Cable", should be able to find it pretty quick. Good Luck !
If it wasn't for the damn loud as hell static and scanner noise this would be the best how to out lol still pretty damn good though
Yeah, in hindsight I definitely should have shut that off, hope you found some pratical use regardless 🏍♥️
Why oh why is the effing scanner on?!
$16.75 Amazon .... I love yamaha, but why didn't they go with juice brakes from the beginning ? Talk about your design flaw ! So many kids riding around with sheety binders
Ok but that cable is gonna get worst after a while cuz blaster from 89 to 02 cable brakes are suck.. 03 are hydraulic brakes
so just put 03 hubs on it & now its a 03 not a 89 to 02
Great video, i know im 10years late. However to find the pin # “ 2xj-25734-00-00”
It’s hard cause the kit don’t come with the pin smh… I have everything except the pin..
