I have the impression that recycling is more common here than in the US. Terracycle is not really an option here. We have them, but... it's pretty much nothing.
Most people I know buy the clothes for their kids second hand.
Some of my favourite items are hand-me-downs or bought second hand.

Your culture understands better about waste than mine. The US is very materialistic and wasteful. I was raised wearing hand-me-downs until I was a teenager, but I started thrifting then. I also was lured in by catalog clothing shopping then though. I wore most of them through my twenties though, as my size remained a long time. Terracycling is not known here hardly at all and only about 20% of our recycled products get recycled here. It is awful.
