    Thank you for all this info!!! I have had a pixie for about 9 months but have only started playing around with it lately. I have not been happy with the way my mohawk has turned out so I will be trying some of your techniques!! I don't have the same products you do but will do my best with the "product cocktail" that I can make. Love that phrase!!! I was thinking my hair was too long on top but now I wonder if it was just lack of product!! thanks so much!

    • @whippycakeplus
      @whippycakeplus  Před 8 lety

      +Amy Fry Yes, a product "cocktail" can make all the difference. In fact, there are many styles I haven't thought I could pull of until I tried certain volumizing and texturizing products. What a difference for this thin haired gal. Thank you for watching. Happy styling. XOXO!

    • @amyfry4776
      @amyfry4776 Před 8 lety

      +whippycake Thanks for replying! I looked for some of these products but couldn't find much at the store, just spray gel, not wax and no texturizing powder. I may have to look elsewhere. I also think some of my issue is I have let my hair grow out a bit on top so it longer than yours and my hair on the sides is shorter. I like the length on top when I curl it, but I think its a bit long to try and mohawk/pompadour it. I just think i'll have to keep playing, and trying different products until I find what works for me! thanks for the inspiration!

    • @whippycakeplus
      @whippycakeplus  Před 8 lety +1

      +Ruby Gomez I have only used the same 1inch flat iron forever. I would imagine that it's a lot easier to work with when styling a shorter length. But, that being said I believe with practice anything is possible. I suggest playing around with my C-Curl technique czcams.com/video/Am9pGegctPU/video.html with your current iron. You may just surprise yourself and invent a whole new style that you fall in love with. Let me know if it works for you. Thank you so much for watching my videos!

  • @doctorjp08
    @doctorjp08 Před 9 lety +1

    I have a similar cut, a bit shorter. I already use big sexy hair products including the powder and frenzy paste. Unfortunately, my hair ends up very dry and brittle when I do all of this to it. Is there any product you recommend that would make it look healthy and shiny without oiling it up and possibly making the style fall flat? I should mention I think I have much more dense hair than you do although it is straight and fine. If I put too much product it gets weighed down.

    • @whippycakeplus
      @whippycakeplus  Před 9 lety

      doctorjp08 I totally understand how hard it is to find the perfect hair product cocktail. I too get really dry hair because of all the dry shampoo and volumizers I use. My fav product to protect and shine without being greasy or heavy is Naissant Argan Oil Elixir: @1 available on Amazon. I also recommend a good deep conditioner once a week, like this It's A 10 Miracle Mask: @1. Hope that helps. Keep me updated. I hope you enjoy my more recent styles as well. Thanks for watching.

    • @whippycakeplus
      @whippycakeplus  Před 9 lety

      Waziha Khan That honestly would depend on your hair type. If you have some natural curl or wave to your hair then you could prob use a round brush with a blow dryer and get a similar effect. If you have have thick or thin straight hair though the ideal thing would be a flat iron or a curling iron if possible.

    I really want a pixie, but I'm the type of person who HATES styling my hair! I would like something along the lines of Katie Holme's "Long" Pixie, but my hair is very FINE and flat (I'm pretty sure katie has THICK hair). My hair's anatomy makes it that more difficult to style. I don't want a short "crop" either (even though it does look cute on a lot of people). Would a long pixie work on my hair?

    Well, I was growing out my pixie...and it's at that really frustrating stage, found your CZcams channel and blog via Pinterest.
    Made an appointment with my stylist instead.
    As a web/graphic designer, I just have to tell you that your blog is insanely well laid out. Do you do it or do you have someone else do it?

      Jodi Douglas Awe, that you so much. I am so flattered that you like the blog. I just did a web redesign and have put a lot of time tweaking the new site. I do have some help on the back end, but I love the tech world and try to get my hands dirty as much as I can so my style is maintained down to every detail. So glad you found me. I have some new pixie tutorials coming up!

    How would I describe this cut to a hairdresser??

    Angrf85 It's hard to explain with words. But, let me try. I would ask for the hair to be inverted or tapered around the ears. I would definitely take pictures with you. Or even show this video. It really help the stylist to know what your expectations are. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you for this video ! My hair length is about the same as yours, but I have very very thin hair, so it never stays in place, no matter what I do ! They aaaalways fall down to the right, even if I'm not doing anything... the struggle is real ! xS I have to mix more products in my hair ! I'm going to invest in the spray wax ! :) Hopefully your "cocktail" will work for me too ;)

      ***** YES a spray wax will be key for your hair, since it is so thin. I would mix together any products that are going to give your hair texture and hold. For example, dry shampoo, spray wax, texturizing spray, root boost, etc. :)

    How is your pixie so straight. Mine is supposed to be straight but my bangs are poofy

    How do you get your curls to last BEFORE you're able to get the last finishing touch products in your hair?? I have thin straight hair and has the hardest time keeping that curl, literally already falling before i am able to finish curling my whole head.

      +lookupskye what products would you suggest I put in before I start curling?

    • @whippycakeplus
      @whippycakeplus  Před 8 lety

      +lookupskye - I would recommend getting a styling product in your hair before you blow dry and curl. The one I use and love is this amplifying mouse from sexy hair. It should really make a difference. bit.ly/1O3fhFK

    you make styling your hair look so easy, every time I try the faux hawk, the tips of my hair tend to droop down so I end up looking like Cindy Lou Who 😐
