I've been wanting to challenge my skills with the new Canon R50 and try sharing my menu settings of this great camera. Using Quicktime player, HDMI cable and this capture card exceeded my expectations. Not a perfect solution but it works for me - I hope you enjoy this tip

I'm running a Canon R50, Elgato Prompter and Elgato 4K X, but the recordings on my look pixeled (after recording) although they look sharp on my Macs screen. Do you have any video showing the specific settings for the camera and the program( OBS or others), to get recordings in 4K?

Hey thanks for dropping by. I don't have that specific tech but have had a little look for you :) With the R50 in Movie Mode press the Menu button and go to WRENCH Tab (Yellow Menu), page 3 HDMI Resolution and set to AUTO. It should match the Elegato 4k. (Auto = The images displayed will automatically be displayed at the optimum resolution for matching the connect television). If this menu item is greyed out go to the PLAY Tab (Blue Menu), page 4 and change HDMI HDR output to Off. Not sure of this will work for you but it's worth a shot. Cheers
Good video, thanks! A couple of questions (clearly triggered by my lack of experience): do we have to use a capture card? I mean, if the PC has an hdmi in-port, couldn't we connect the camera straight to that port (via an compatible hdmi cable)? If so, would we lose some streaming/recording quality? I am still doing my research on what I need to buy, if anything 🙂 Thanks again for the clip.
An interesting question - usually the HDMI on the computer (I use Mac) is for outbound signals (to a monitor for example) not inbound. Theoretically it could work if the HDMI would allow for signal input and then captured on the PC. I use this just for capturing menu's. Thanks for watching

So is there any way to get 4k into the computer with the R50? Am trying to use it to stream in 4K and it only goes 1080p into OBS. Am using the USB-C connection, but if I use the HDMI with the 4k capture card will it go 4k into the computer? Seems like I jumped the gun on getting this camera before realizing it did not send 4k to the computer
I use 4K monitors from the HDMI output from the R50. The USB-C output is only 1080p I'm lead to believe

I have same varient and iam getting issue with opening image because of heif and c3r format how can i change image to jpeg Or is there any setting for taking image in jpeg.
Thanks for watching - YES you can take just a JPG Image. Set the camera to a photo mode. Select the Camera Tab (RED MENU) > Item 1 and change RAW to the "-" (dash). This will only save a JPG/HEIF. Raw files have more information and can be opened in Lightroom or Photoshop for extensive color manipulation. Hope this info helps 😉
