I've been wanting to challenge my skills with the new Canon R50 and I can say is I'm impressed with the results. This camera performed admirably well in low light and challenging situations.
It has been fun making this video for you - we're all at different stages of our learning journey and if we share - we all learn. Thank you :) www.buymeacoffee.com/cre8r61
I use this solution as a backup but I mainly use the USB C port - enjoyed the video!
Thanks for the tips!
Excellent - thank you. I’m so happy my little channel has helped and appreciate the feedback
Thank You For the Video! It helped me out alot!
Glad it helped! If you use a manual lens on your Canon R50 you’ll want to change the release shutter button without lens option. I just released a quick tip video here czcams.com/video/lxxq-RUrMZY/video.htmlsi=q1LBJvE23D4u5udP
I carry 12 batteries around with me. I have a multi bank battery charger I keep in my car, so when it comes time, I can recharge. I love the power supply idea. As long as you are mostly stationary, it would be awesome.
Hey Neil -
How you been? Wow 12 batteries - that’s huge!
Does the Canon dummy battery version cause the same hum, do other brand cause the same hum, or is it just the one you reviewed?
I’ve not been able to review the canon version. I think it might be a grounding issue after speaking with others
Do you need to remove the canon r50’s battery every time ur not using it? Because im trying to use my camera and i heard you’re supposed to remove it when ur not using it because it gives a small current of power even when not using it. but when im walking around and i want to take a quick shot, i always have to put my battery back in and remove it after. Sometimes i miss the shot because of the time i spend putting the battery in.
I keep the battery in the camera and turn the camera off and on. If you’re not using the camera for an extended period of time canon recommend removing the battery. Thanks for watching - I appreciate it.
would it be possible to power the camera through USB C instead of buying a dummy battery and supply?
I've not been able to make this work BUT using a USB Power Adapter to Charge/Power the Camera Using USB Power Adapter PD-E1 (sold separately at around $140USD), you can charge Battery Pack LP-E17 without removing it from the camera. The camera can also be powered. Thanks for watching and thanks for your question
Hello sir my canon r50 sometime it's displaying err 30 & err 20 please help me with my problem
Err 30 is a shutter error and err 20 is a mechanical issue. Sounds like you may need to claim under warranty as it could be a defective camera. Take it back to your dealer for inspection would be my suggestion. Hope you’re back up and running again soon
@@cre8r61 will it first display err 30 then will display err 20 ... and if I turn off and keed it for 1 and half hour then It will work fine for about 30 min and the same err occure.. I have send it to canon service center and got it last week but same err is occurring
I have dummy battery for my canon r8. My power bank is samsung 25 W, and output is 5 V, 3A. And I can not use it for shooting. I can power on my cam with it but when trying to shoot it says "charge your battery"...?? Any solution to this? Thx
This is an interesting question for sure. Can you use it to power the camera without a dummy battery? I don’t have the R8 so unsure if power over usb is an option. Thanks for reaching out
@@cre8r61 yea I can. It tirns on the cam and I can do everything excwpt shooting and recording. Then the camera says "charge battery" (power bank is full bit I think output power is to low). R8 can use dummy, it has special space for cabel for it.
How to charge r50 with usb cable?
Thanks for asking. Charge the camera over USBC but this only works with OEM batteries have a look at for my findings on 3rd party batteries czcams.com/video/7yVX53J2N_c/video.html
Not sure if I missed this in your video… but doesn’t the R50 just use the USB C power connection for external power with a ‘PD’ standard power supply? Why not just use that rather than a dummy battery?
interesting - it's been a while since I've looked into this - maybe I missed something in my testing. Thanks for reaching out. I'll have a look at this for sure 😀
@@cre8r61 I thought you could just plug a USB C into the camera port. Surprising you and all these viewers don't know they don't need a dummy battery
@BleepingWorld you can't use an ordinary USB c charger whilst the camera is on. You have to buy one from Canon. In UK it sells for £105!!. So yes you need a dummy battery as a cheaper alternative.
So I can't use a powerbank to charge or keep my r50 alive while keeping it working and taking photos and videos?
I was unable to do this with the R50 as it draws more power. I could do this with my M50 and was hoping to do the same. A good question
@@cre8r61 thanks for the response, and what about charging the battery inside the camera while it's off, can I do this with the powerbank?
I’ve not been able to make this work
@@cre8r61 sadly, but really thankful for your response 😊
@@cre8r61 hey man, I could charge it while its off via USB c to USB c cable with a powerbank
You may want to try it it's really working 😊
Does it harm the R50?
I’ve had no issue to date with this. Thanks for tuning in
