the r50 does have a mic meter on the back screen as you are recording. Its also in the Q menu if you need to make a quick adjustment

Just subscribed these are by far the best informative videos on the R50 I’m a content creator and I’m seriously considering upgrading my canon 700D but I’ve got a Sigma 17/50 2:8 will it fit the R50 with an adapter many thanks from the uk 🇬🇧

Great video. thanks! I can't recall if you mentioned the battery life - how many shots are you able to get on a charge, how long can you record a video at 4K 30p with one charge?
Around 440 - 450 shots and approx an hour and 13 minutes of 4k 25p video on a single charge. Standard 24, 30 and 60 fps video files have a 60min limit and 100 or 120 fps high speed has a limit of 15mins. When the recording limit has been reached you need to press the movie button again. As a person who wants to get into photography as a hobby for when I study abroad would you recommend spending the money on the R50 or going with a cheaper option like the Canon T7 which would allow me to buy a few lenses while staying under the R50's price?
I’d suggest the m50 - it’s a beautiful camera and still a worthy camera in 2023. I love my m50 and cannot part with it. I’ve not used the T7
Could you please let me know the audio quality in the video taken by R50 ? I wanna know how its quality is with the inbuilt mic ?
Audio quality from the onboard mic is not brilliant - you get better quality from an external mic. The mics I use are not expensive generally being the RODE Video Mic Go, RODE Video Micro and RODE Wireless Go (+Lavalier Go) are my go go mics these days. These mics are directional and limit picking up other sounds in the room or outdoors. Sony's ZV1 has better onboard mics (I own this cam too). Thanks for your question and thanks for reaching out. You’re right - there’s no c-log. You can create a flat image profile or download cinestyle/film kit flat type profile. The EOS R50 shoots HDR PQ video at 10-bit YCbCr 4:2:2, in addition to the usual 8-bit YCbCr 4:2:0 plus a light mode. Footage could handle a light color grade but I have yet to push this. Portions of this video I shot with the SONY ZV-1 and iPhone PRO Max. R50 used the RF-S 18-45mm kit lens, RF-S 55-210mm. M50 and R50 both using the adapted EF 50mm ƒ1.8. RF ƒ1.8 50mm used for some street photography shots. Thanks for your question.

Are there any budget friendly gimbals you recommend?
Yes - I love the Zhiyun Gimbals owning a few - I have the Weebill S, the Crame M3 and Crane M2s. The latter 2 are compact gimbals. If you use these solely as a gimbal for stability - great. The Weebill S is a large gimbal that has the power for holding heavier lenses like the Sirui 24mm T1.2 Night Walker. If you're using standard lenses the Crane M3 is a powerful compact gimbal with integrated light. Thanks for watching as I appreciate it

Which lens should I buy for this?
I recommend going with the kit lens to start with and after some time you’ll see what your fave focal length is. A fast prime like the 50mm is always a good choice. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

It works okay but I’m getting a low hum in my recording. I’ve been able to treat the sound. Need to make sure my cables are clear of interference
Just received the camera a few days ago . Still playing around with it . Only found two disappointments with it so far . No audio meter in Movie for close up demos mode and and no front led to indicate your recording . Maybe in upcoming firmware releases . Just got the 16mm rf lens . Perfect for vloging
Yeah - no audio meters for close up demo mode is one that could be fixed with firmware. There is no LED on the front (like a Sony ZV-1 for example) to indicate when you're recording but it does show recording on the screen if you have it facing you. Still a good camera for the price
Did it actually allow you to use the wireless on it? I just bought mine, and it won't let me use the kimafun wireless on it, which seems totally ridiculous.
I’m not aware of the Kimafun system. The Canon R50 mic input is a TRS (Tip Ring Sleeve) socket. Looking at pics online of the Kimafun it may have a TRRS (Tip Ring Ring Sleeve) jack. You may need an adapter for it to work. I use the RØDE Wireless Go and Go ii system with this camera without issue. Thanks for watching
@@cre8r61 The model I have has a TRRS to TRS wire, and a TRS to TRS, so I just don't understand why it isn't working. Thank you for the info though. At least I do know the Rode Go is supposed to work with the camera. I appreciate you taking the time to look at it.

@@cre8r61 I actually thought that, and spent an hour ripping my hair out thinking it was the issue, but I tested it out on other things... even this laptop, which is about to blow the battery at any moment... so I have no idea. Canon just said it isn't compatible, buy the Rode shot gun, or tough luck.

That's GREAT news! The R50 is a great camera that will do the job AND the Canon RF 16mm is a good match if you're looking to move up from the 18-45mm kit lens. Question ..I have a M50 with native and sigma lenses ..if I upgrade to the R50 and purchase the RF adapter, will be able to use my EF and sigma lenses
Yes the EF lenses will need to be adapted with the EF to RF adapter as you do currently with the M mount. EF-M lenses are not compatible. I still use my M50 mk1 when I need a small light setup (or my M100 for a tiny setup). Thanks for watching and hope the info helps
Won't be a good vlogging camera until there is a lens wider than 18-45 for it. Canon needs to bring out a 10-18mm RF-S for it. Yes, EF-S can be adapted but that is adding more length, weight and cost.
It's a shame Canon is blocking 3rd party lens manufacturers from supplying auto focus lenses for the R mount. Canon has a RF 16mm ƒ2.6 and 7artisans has a manual focus 12mm F2.8 II Ultra Wide Angle Lens available. Time will tell I guess
Canon R50 or Sony ZV E10 in 2023?
Both are worthy. I’ve yet to play with the SONY ZV E10 (I have the ZV1 and love it too)
Buying tomorrow...R50 or R10? What to do?
An interesting question for sure. The R50 and the R10 both share the same sensor. The R50 is a beginner camera with some great features whereas the R10 has more customisation and features. FOr me the R50 is a great entry level camera with enough to grow into and learn with if you're starting out. Both cameras can be used in full auto mode and produce exceptional quality images and video. If you're looking to add in a few lenses go with the R50 and stretch the budget a little further. RF lenses can be used on pother cameras down the track so are a good investment.
I have the M50 and started with this camera - when first released. It is still a fun camera to shoot with (I also have the M100, G7X mkii and a few EOS-M). The R50 has lens breathing correction 120fps HD Video, a better screen and is lighter, marginally smaller than the R10 and has better battery life (you'll need additional batteries anyway). I love the R50 and for me this is the better choice being released 9 months after the R10. Good luck with your purchase - I'm excited for you having that "new camera feeling" - Cheers 📸 😁
