Hello, I'm in the process of planning my layout. So, this does work for that too? I have two crossings were the extra 5" pieces just don't work. I'd like to have it activate about two or three pieces before getting there. So, I will need to take the metal band off each track piece leading up and the few after the crossing to make the lights and bell activate right? I'm just learning all of this, so I'm planning well so I don't have to redo a bunch of stuff. Thanks.
I'm about to lay down a 48x96 inch fastrack loop to run two trolleys at the same time I have a 30 inch straight along with two 10 inch straights on both sides of the loop how would I use the 30 inch straight as the activation but I need a stop section how would I do that?
So to extend the section - you would leave the extra section pins in - but remove the bars underneath for each extra section...as long as the 2 end pieces dont have the pins on the outside rail....correct? You wouldn’t remove the pins and bar on each extra section - just the pins and bar on the end pieces ? Thanx
Thank you a lot for the tutorial. Does anyone know if it is possible to do this to a FasTrack switch? I took one look at the bottom of mine and immediately realized I needed help.
Will this work on curves too? I have a reversing loop and need two curves plus a 30 inch to work together. There’s a curve, the curve I need to be the activator, and then that goes into a 30 straight.
All of this is very interesting but it makes me realize that Lionel is not something that I want to get involved in it’s already so expensive for the locomotives but I can’t afford it and all his complex LA with the wiring is absolutely just ridiculous
I mostly use the old style of track because it is cheaper, could I add a couple quick connect sections to my older track and have this activation system work? Thanks!
So let me say first I'm new to a lot of this. Hanging a ceiling train in my pub and it's about 14 x 16. I want to run two trains bit one at a time. I want to use a side loop as a place to park one while I run the other and then switch them out. What track pieces and switches would I need and how would I need to wore that up? Is it poasible?
Thank you. Just got a gateman and this worked and saved me money.
Awesome instructional Video , you saved me Money ! Jim
Thanks for the video, I have a road crossing in a corner with a curve on each side and this is perfect to add an automatic crossing gate.

Wow, great tutorial! I'll probably do this with my track sections when I get more crossing signals & stuff on my layout.
Thanks for the tip. You just made my day so I can add block signal to mt layout.
Great tip. Came in handy.
One of the vids I've seen on fastrack
Excellent video and nice idea! Thanks.
very cool thanks for posting

very good video Dave
Also which 2 of the 3 posts on the accessory am I connecting too? Say a cantilever or overhead double line signal bridge? The 3rd post is elimitated?
Very Cool, thanks for sharing!

fantastic hack. thanks.
how would you insulate a wye switch for DCC operation using Fastrack?
How would you do this on a curved section of tracks?
Excellent.

Hello, FasTrack is not designed to do insulated rails because the rails are already insulated for automatic switching
very cool

Robb Riehn yes this works on curves too. Depending how long tho... Just take the bands off the track till your end of the section

I’m new to this train stuff sorry but can u explain what purpose doing this means
It's to activate accessories that you want like crossing gates, lights, etc
I try this with a guardrail and I could not get it to work can anyone help?
Dave Baran if your reading my comment.
I was requesting to sent you money to make one of those for me.

You would need a right and left hand switch for your siding and the siding would have to be insulated
