I am a simple man. I see a big worm, I make a video of it.
Here's a link to the email list. I send out an email when I upload to the main channel:

Ew it looks like one of those parasites that infect roaches and preying mantis. They explode out in the wet rain after their hosts are dying
We apprechiate!
For some reason some of the species are always out wenn its rainy. And i dont think it is a protection mechanism against drowning common in earthworms. If you have a big area of marshland or a meadow with high vegetation it could be a good place to finde those parasites. Best to go on a wet summer morning there will be plenty. You will probably also find some in small creeks in the spring.
I suggest you washing your hands before touching your face, it looks like the kind of parasites we see bursting out of spiders or other big insects...
Unless you plan on making a video about brain worms? lol
Once upon a time when I was a kid. I was digging on the side of a small river playing with the sand... I was found two worms similar but brown and even longer about 50-60cm.
The real question is: Is it magnetic?
Magnetizing to Destin, at the very least 😅
I was going to ask the same thing. Lol
Lol I thought the same thing XD
moreover, can it’s movement mimic laminar flow?
Haha
It's a parasitic horse hair worm that feeds on crickets and frogs and such. They're attracted to water and they lay their eggs when it rains
I figured it had to be some kind of parasite! I was like "maybe it's a tape worm!" So thank you for answering! :)
You failed to mention that they take over your brain and make you drown yourself
If Destin's upcoming videos involve him visiting water, we'll know he's been infected.
That's what I thought
I was like "ahhhh, that's really cool!" then found out it's a parasite in the comments and NOPE'd straight outta there 😰
"Are you a worm? What are you?"
Was gutted when that didn't work.
*pulls out knife*
*battle encounter music starts playing*
"I'm going to let you live."
Peaceful NPC music plays.
That was Nolan Batman levels of detective work. "WHERE'S THE TRIGGER?!" "ARE YOU A WORM?!"
I like how he started to touch it with his hands… Then alarm bells went off in his head and said “hold up sir we are smarter than this. We don’t know what it is… let’s use our tools.”
That's a snake that's taken dieting too seriously.
This is the raw, unedited stuff I love sometimes
A quick google search shows that those might have been horsehair worms, which are absolutely terrifying and amazing at the same time!
I think you are spot on there.
Yea the one that are parasitic to crickets. It probably found a small enough puddle to go in and then the out came out of the cricket. Deep look has a good video on them.
Goodbye cricket... the rain was your undoing. Though that might have been less horrible then forcing your self to down and there is a chance that your parasites might not make it either.
Super terrifying. Millions of people have probably drowned to death because of them.
@@TheAstronomyDude they only target small bugs like crickets/grasshoppers
I believe that is a horse hair worm which is an endoparasite. It takes over its host. Which is usually a grasshopper/preying mantis or another insect of that sort. It will live there and grow until it is ready to emerge. At that point it will cause its host to jump into water and drown itself. The worm is fairly reliant on being in or around water and can't live long without it.
Whelp time to go down the rabbit hole on horse hair worms.
That is my guess as well. I took invert zoology in college back in the day and we studied many worms... so many worms. It is absolutely wild to see those things come out of crickets and other insects. It is the kind of video that I bet Destin would be both fascinated and appalled by, I know I was lol. Not as bad as the guinea aka match stick worm. Another crazy parasitic worm is the Leucochloridium paradoxum, at least it doesn't infect people though.
Interestingly if the insect doesn't drown it can survive the ordeal an go on to live a normal live
@@1stGruhn what on earth is "invert zoology"?!
@@lucas29476 Invertebrate Zoology most likely.
It's stitching from the supersonic baseballs that's still twirling from the impact
Noble prize for you
Long stringy worm sounds internal parasite alarms to me: if they live by absorbing nutrients from their host through their skin, they need to grow in length rather than diameter, in order to maintain their surface/volume ratio and absorption capabilities. Better not touch until identified and confirmed harmless to you. That said - massive thanks for sharing all the little things that tickle your attention and curiosity.
Worms like this creep me out to my core. Parasites are my greatest fear, especially after learning tapeworms can hatch in any part of your body, including your brain, and live there for ages.
I think that may be a parasite. Ground worms don’t typically grow that long.
Yes they do. I have pulled worms out of the ground 18" to 24" long.
@@dimesonhiseyes9134 'don't typically'
@@Carhill yea they do. Not every species mind you but I used to dig them up a lot. They were always hard to get out of the ground because they were so long. You had to just steadily but gently pull them till they got too tired to hang on. We would save them for fish bait.
@@dimesonhiseyes9134 but I don't think earth worms looks like those. I mean, there's probably more than the one type of worm that I know but the 'normal' earth worms are slightly red and a little bit thicker than that, those looks like straight up parasites
@@samizin911 the one in the video is definitely not an earth worm.
But you are correct there are many different worms that are known as earth worms.
Main channel: Lets go to the arctic or the gulf coast and engage with the best the US military has to offer
Second channel: big worm
Destin, please never change! You're child-like awe and curiosity of the world around you is something I also have, and I admire a lot about you!
We call that chow here, in every restaurant
Very nice update!! 👌
horsehair worm. a parasite that is best known from the viral video some odd years ago, where someone sprays a spider and one of that crawls out of it.
I can't be the only one who thought he was about to cut it up
I am a simple man. I see Destin upload a big worm, I click it.
Biology student here: In Germany i heared them being refered to as "wire worms". They are found in small streams and in marshlands. There are differnt species, which are not closer related. I know of the genus "mermis" and "gordios". They are parasites. There are plenty of differnt species with differnt host and intermediate host and alternate hosts. Most known are they in Grasshoppers/Crickets and praying mantis. There are some videos on youtube you should check out.
Grasshoppers will feed on vegetation and eat some of the larvea. The larvea grows until the Grasshopper dies and falls onto the ground. The then adult worm vanishes in the ground and reproduce and lay new eggs of parasite offspring for the next season. This is the most simple lifecycle, however there are more specialized species with intermediate hosts and behavior altering effects on there hosts (look up praying mantis parasite)
First magnetic worms, now long worms?
We need Smarter Everyday: Worms channel.
Hope you’re enjoying your day Destin
Longer Every Day!
@@Sharklops lets keep it family friendly
No, no... no we don't!!
@@xJuiCYxxJaYx COPPA: 👀
my grandma called them Horsehair worms.
This is the content I sub to this channel for. Thank you Destin.
That's one of those things you find bursting out of the chests of grass hoppers and spiders, it's an awful parasite!
lol do you hear yourself?
@@xJuiCYxxJaYx do you?
@@bugz000 yes, yes i do. Why are you chiming in with your kindergarten tactics? What have you got say? Use you big ppl words son!!
@@xJuiCYxxJaYx it’s a real thing called a horsehair worm
@@xJuiCYxxJaYx saying that someone is using kindergarten tactics is pretty ironic considering your username
Either horse-hair, parasitic worm (nematomorpha) or maybe the rare predatory Haplotaxis gordioides.
If only he had gotten a good look at its chaetae. :)
Looks like a horsehair worm. So cool!!
Michael Scott: That's what she said
In New Zealand we have an earthworm that is about a meter long and a centimeter thick.
Horsehair worm - I had the exact same reaction the first time I saw one!
Ascaris is my guess. Walking by a field with livestock?
We have giant earthworms that get over a foot long here in Australia
As well as here in central US.
"It's really neat, bye"
I'm not sure there is a more concise statement. LOL
You should call yourself Worms America 😆😆😆
I have never saw a Earthworm look like that, But I live in Canada I am sure you will do a follow up video or at least I am hoping you do, love your videos
Don’t touch it! That’s how scary movies start! You get some weird parasites and then you become a vampire or a werewolf… wait! Go pick it up! Go now!
Tape worm? It must be some type of parasite.
Ok, Destin can do rockets, submarines, cannons, auto-rotating helicopters, but he doesn’t do worms. Got it.
"I don't know what to say. It's really neat. Bye."
Such a good ending.
I love your long form videos but these short ones when we get to see that initial moment of curiosity and wonder are super fun!
I literally screamed at my phone horse hair worm noooooo!! when you went to touch it lmao!
Thank you for letting it live.
So, you saw a really long worm. You didn't know worms could get that long. Some comments indicate it is a horsehair worm. Now you know. Now you're smarter. Happens every day.
I saw longer worms as a kid while living in west Africa but the were big around as a pencil.
Could be a horsehair worm, its a parasite. Odd to see them in the rain instead of standing water.
I would agree that it is most likely a horsehair worm.
Probably yes, would wash my hands really really REALLY WELL after touching that water around it.
@@enginesandmore1013 why?

Definitely looks pretty big next to your Size 9 sneaker
Eat it, then report back.
weirdnesses like this lead to getting lost in "rabbit holes", good for learning !!
This could be great as a youtube short
I like that Destin didn't touch it directly, just in case.
If you get to a cold-ish sea shore at some point see if you can find some bootlace worms. The world's longest venomous animal!
Get in touch if you want more info! Greetings from North Wales!
Thank you for the frequent worm videos!
Thanks for sharing your worms with us
Looks like the parasite common to praying mantises
I love your natural curiosity 🙌
More worm videos please! The magnetic worm video was great too!
I’ve seen THOUSANDS of these out on the road after a rain storm in NW MS. Only witnessed it one time as far as I can remember
Love the Leatherman!
Was going to touch it, and backed out for the knife lol. Good move.
Destin I love you for this
this it the top tier worm content i've come to expect from you, Destin. Keep it up.
Bro that’s a baby snake when it’s that long!
Thats a horsehair worm.
I think that's a horsehair worm
Let it be known that this is NOT the only video published on this channel about worms Destin funds in his yard.
Alien confirmed
Imagine if that thing answers back.
Thank you for quality content
That looks more like a parasitic worm than a normal worm.
Its a pigtail cricket assassin thatcher mega-leech; very rare. Cut it in half and you will have 2. Lives 36 months tops. Hibernates in summer in trees. Glows in the dark. Fully magnetic to fish; great fish bait. Breaths air and water.
One of those ‘whoa’ moments.
-"I'm glad he didn't kill the worm"
-"Hmm...me too."
He should have. It's a disgusting parasite known as a horsehair worm.
But the question is, is it magnetic?
what happens if you shoot a horsehair worm with a mach-1 baseball cannon?
I just love you Destin 😆
Yeah! Observations of daily life .... and asking questions about it .... is exactly how we make scientific progress. It is also a wonderful way to engage kids in science.
Thank-you Destin.
I like how this is two seconds longer than a CZcams short.
Yo, excellent choice of EDC multitool.
looks like Spinochordodes tellinii, or a hairworm. They live and reproduce in water, where their microscopic larvae are ingested by grasshoppers. The larvae grow inside the grasshopper, where they mildly influence its behavior to seek out bodies of water to jump into to drown, at which point the hairworm leaves the host body to repeat the cycle. Could be wrong, but they can get pretty big, thin, and somewhat yellow-white in color.
what are you? "Fear Factor Spaghetti"!! 😵
Worm 👍
The real question is...
Is it magnetic?
I love your fascination with the world around you. I'd totally watch a follow-up video that would make me smarter that day about super long worms!
Cool. I've never seen one of those. Definitely don't want to see one of them in my underpants either.
"Worms from Space" They have come to see who sent that probe to their planet.
if there's _one_ thing i know about big worms: playing with their money, is like playing with their emotions
nice, lol
its a parasite dont touch it
that's a shoelace bro
It's noodles. You can eat it.
Step 1 of the scientific method: Ask the specimen, "What are you???"
Good choice in multi tool I have the Wave+ carry it everywhere.
That Sir, is the longest worm I have ever seen
That looks more like a parasite to me... but that doesn't explain its size... maybe its host body just died off somewhere and now it's just crawling around?
I dug up an earthworm longer than a shovel while trenching once. The soil was incredibly rich, ended up putting great crops of veges in there.
Aren’t those ring worms?
i saw real proper earth worms longer and fatter when we were working in the fields
the pink-cream ones
I'm getting slight parasite vibes from that worm
Usually in entomology world or alike you specify location, time of the year, altitude… so others can help identify.
Cool
That's a parasite, they come out during the rain to lay their eggs
It is said that the hairs from horses tails come to life when it rains... so said my grandmother.
