They are actually popular before but only for 8 years(1978 to 1985), sadly they started losing the popularity after their album Shout at 1984. But I agree that they are underrated cause they should be in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 2010. They used to be one of early Americans New Wave, Synth-Pop and Post Punk band. And now I think they should be a part of Hollywood Walk of Fame for compassing soundtrack of many films, shows and video games.
Much respect to devo for keeping it old school still using the same tech keyboard synth. Many other 80s band fail to follow what made them so popular. Sucks, but it’s true.
@@Granox Devo isn't grunge. They're a mix of punky new wave, electronica, synth pop, pop, performance art, surf guitar and rock. No real grunge lineage in there.

There was a show on the sci fy channel called " Monster man" starring Cleve Hall, that showed the costume being made and also worn by him for this video. He also did the Ultraman and Band makeup. It most certianly wasn't Rob Zombie

Well, this video is more like 80's style, which is very DEVO, yeah Beastie Boys, did this first, I know, but DEVO did better, GODZILLA vs. ULTRAMAN spoof, its very funny, which bring back memories for me.
Devo has always been overlooked by mainstream media. Whip It was the only song that got a lot of airplay, but there were one of the best bands of the 80's and still awesome.
There's a video of Mark Mothersbaugh showing all sorts of odd devices DEVO has used throughout the years as musical instruments and, if not one of those devices, is probably a throwback to them.
