I thought I was done with enjoying listening to these guys everyday back in the early 80s. I never heard this gem. it's great seeing the vids of the live shows here on the youtube. I have so much more respect for them now seeing how well-crafted and energetic their stage shows were. Calling them geniuses actually chumps them. These guys deserve their own museum. I'm addicted to them again. wiggly world, smart patrol, etc. c'mon these guys are beyond whatever meager superlatives i could offer. they left a hole in the back of my head, to borrow a phrase. I think Devo came to Earth to program the populace with their tones, rhythms and encoded movements. Be careful watching their videos lest what they may have installed in your minds long, long ago be actualized. You may start feeling "potato-ey" and develop a tendency toward asking people if we are men or not. Further, and perhaps worse - you may wake up in your bed one morning to find yourself wearing a yellow hazmat suit !

I remember seeing the Dell commercial this song appeared in. Didn't know it was Devo though. I wasn't into music all that much when I as younger. Now I have heard every Devo album, Hardcore Volumes 1 and 2, and a few unreleased tracks. I listen to many kinds of music these days including: new wave, post punk, industrial, noise, punk rock, alternative rock, prog rock, avant-garde, free jazz, hip hop, synth Pop, Electronic (Whether it be many kinds of dance music such as electro, disco, techno, trance, gabber, speedcore, IDM, house, dubstep, drum-n-bass, trap. Or ambient music, electronic modern classical, abstract.), Classical (especially 20th century stuff like Iannis Xenakis and Milton Babbitt), and musique concrete.
Ah, yes! That is Alan's drumming from "The Super Thing." So in a sense, Alan got to play with DEVO one more time. Great for him. This is a killer tune, very very catchy. I can only imagine how many other songs they went through before they were warmed up for this?

Sadly among the general public they are solely remembered for their hit "Whip it", and that's all. I like that compilation.

I LVOE it, the song AND the vid. Very Mod (the 60s term), and the video even has that Lady Gaga aspect to it. And of course the DEVO sound is definitely there. the tail-waggy Digital Fido was cool. Cool gurlz

Mark Mothersbaugh's voice coming out of a sexy Asian woman... it's like they looked into my dreams. And there's cowbell, too. They definitely know what I want more of.
Kudos abstractthreat, and it appears they produced their video on Dells dime. True to their name.. getting their new music out to the public is DEVOLVING. Its almost a sweet smack in the face to the 90s "sell out". But its DEVO so "sell out" doesn't even register cause we are so glad to see them back... and it helps the song they provide rocks the s*#$.
Okay, you got me there! I totally forgot about that disaster. Perhaps it was just Mark expanding on his musical work on "Rugrat's." Maybe it was a small scale sell-out, but at the same time, was he trying to reach out to the kids with the hope that he would create an entire new generation of Devo fans?
But that's what makes a great writer/composer, ending a track when you feel it needs to end and not try to prolong it because it's less then three minutes and thirty seconds long.
