- A rare opportunity to explore life deep beneath the Mediterranean Sea. Meet the crew of the Spanish submarine ESPS Mistral as they embark on a mission underwater.
Allied submarines are key assets to NATO and contribute to enhancing the safety of the Alliance.
The Spanish submarine Mistral was decommissioned in February 2021 after 35 years of service.
This video was filmed in October 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.

This submarine and the new s81 'Isaac Peral' are made in my hometown, Cartagena. The new S81 is named Isaac Peral in honor of this marine, born in my hometown, who invented submarines with electric propulsion. A pride for all, our submarines and our marines 💪
I used to be stationed on a US submarine as a missile tech; it's refreshing to see submarine brothers and sisters going through the exact same thing! You guys are awesome, thanks for the look into your lives!

Its because they are being replace by much more advanced s81 class submarines
Its not as bad as you think, they are gonna get replaced with the new s80 class
But that's because the new ones are coming, the S80 series
Other countries have done better subs than us, but no other has tortilla 400 meters below water 😎

I'm French and enjoyed watching this great documentary of the Spanish submariners. Very well filmed, lots of humanity. I think the Mistral seems to be a French made Agosta class sub. That sub type has been in service for decades (although not many of them are left now since more modern subs are being made) and proven most reliable and efficient over the years.
You are right. They are Agosta class, but were built by Navantia in Cartagena, Spain.

Una sugerencia, en lugar de usar un parche en un ojo, hagan como nosotros los Submarinistas Norteamericanos, pongances unos espejuelos rojos oscuros para acostumbrar a los ojos de ver de noche, y asi pueden ver lo que esta pasando adentro del submarino, y al mismo tiempo acostumbran a la vista a ver de noche por el periscopio.

Mi respeto, admiración y orgullo por estos marinos, submarinistas españoles. Sin duda el trabajo en este medio, incompatible con la vida humana, les hace ser "especiales".
Tan especiales que entre ellos, aún siendo cada cual de su nación y como tales defendiendo lo suyo, les une un hilo de comprensión y solidaridad de ser hermanos en el oficio, con los mismos sacrificios, ilusiones, alegrías, penas, tristezas y temores, pero todo eso con valor, vocación y sentido del deber con su nación, eso les une.

Da pena verlo lleno de parches y remiendos a sus casi 40 años. Ahora, de joven estuve en el CBA de Cartagena y conozco a sus antiguos marinos, el alma de este submarino. Son divertidos y a la vez terribles guerreros subacuáticos. Cuidadín con ellos, que miedo tienen el justo

Los/as submarinistas,españoles y supongo que los de todos los paises son de una materia realmente extraordinaria,para poder soportar convivir y efectuar su cometido dentro de un tubo de acero y con la cantidad de aparataje electronico,electrico,y mecánico yo servi en la armada pero en buques de superficie,y pienso que las tripulaciones de los submarinos son personas realmente extaordinarias,y es realmente de agradecer que esten en nuestra armada.Muchas gracias Héroes,masculinos y Femeninos.

la tripulacion muy bien pero por favor españa deberia de haber tenido otros sumergibles otros submarinos y no este. para mi y otros tantos pensamos solo que este solo insitimos solo sirve para entrenar a tripulaciones españa se merece S90 y a poder ser con energia nuclear un español que solo quiere lo mejor para nuestros soldados saludos y gracias por defendernos y mas todavia por defender a otros que no son españoles viva españa
La propulsión nuclear podría ser evaluada como una amenaza por nuestros aliados.
