The vast majority of women there have been mutilated. I was shocked when I heard it was around 90%.
Depends which type. Type 1 is clitoris cut, type 2 is clitoris and part of the labia being sown. And type 3 is the vaginal opening being sown except for a tiny opening for periods. All 3 are painful but the pain subsides for after a while

I fell very very much in love with an Egyptian man once. He will always be the love of my life. Unfortunately the differences in our beliefs were always too important for him. Whenever I would start to back away he would tell me that "it doesn't matter to him what our differences were" that he wanted me in any situation. That I was everything to him. I believe I was. However, it always came back to it again. He literally could not grasp the notion of freedom from religion. So unfortunately, I knew that I could not be with someone who could not accept me when I could accept everything about them. I will always love him. My Egyptian prince

I am in the same situation right now. My family rules over me. Am not allowed to go out. All day am in my room with my phone. My phone is my world. I see beautiful places on internet and feel happy and then reality hits me. May i find my freedom one day i want to move to canada. Am already 20. I really wish from the bottom of my heart all my sisters in the egypt can live freely and a independent life in a coming future.

If my partner would've said something about killing the group of people I belong to, I would've left him/her immediately. I know this is a bit of a jump in severity but anyone interested in how far this often goes should look up documentaries on Qandeel Banoch (?), Amina and Sarah Said, and Banaz... you won't have a hard time finding them with just names alone on CZcams. Respect whatever is different
She looks, speaks and sounds so much like someone I know that I felt like I know her on a personal level.
I wish she would be a bit afraid, it doesn't mean that you're weak or wrong, it just means that you want to survive.
Nothing good happened to all the people who came out publicly like this, even after escaping the country the mental toll is so great that it can lead to suicide.
This woman is my absolute hero. I hope one day that Islam is reformed and people will be free. Unfortunately the left in the west are preventing any change.

The fact the shes doubt Islam is not a crises, Islam, at least from my perspective allows you to doubt the different interpretations of what one should do as a muslim as interpretations change. I think she was raised in a very conservative, religious family because i live here and i honestly never experienced this, none of my friends here either. When i visit the Countryside here tho i hear alot of similar things as she has experienced. I hope she finds peace tho, the youth needs to overcome our toxic society norms.
Also, her brother shouldn't be entitled to tell her what to do or how to act at all! She is an adult.

From what I understand it’s normal there, her family is not particularly conservative.
@@jewellui it depends on your socioeconomic class. Cases like hers are more common in poor to lower middle class, whereas like myself and op, if you’re from the middle or upper middle class it’s not really common. The issue is that more than 50% of Egyptians are poor.
@@asurvivor6150 as you said many Egyptians are poor yet OP said he or she has only heard of these things in the countryside. From what I understand this is common in most parts of Egypt not just the countryside so maybe his or her social circle is a little more fortunate that’s why I was asking where.
@@jewellui well you can clearly see in the video that the woman in the video who was being controlled was from an urban area. Her family just seemed very uneducated and they also didn’t seem particularly rich. So, yeah it doesn’t just happen in the countryside but it’s more common there.
I can’t really pinpoint why her brother is abusive and controlling. There are many reasons. For one why did his parents enable him to act like that from a young age? Because his family think this behavior is ok. Why do they think it’s ok? I just don’t know.
It is a very good thing that you are free and have courage but you must understand what the society you live in is and you will not want to show this outside because you will be abnormal in their eyes although you are right If you want to stay free, you will travel outside the Arab world.

as an ex-muslim living in the west it breaks my heart that through pure chance myself and people like me are able to live life how they see fit, whilst those trapped in poverty in conservative societies cannot 💔
The (redacted) culture in Egypt towards women terrifies me. I couldn't imagine ever setting foot there, even as a man. Just couldn't stomach knowing I was in the thick of all that abuse and sexism.
