- On 14 November 1945, riding on the phenomenal success of his first few films, AVM established his new production company, AVM Productions at Santhome, Chennai.
AVM Productions began to produce films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali and even Sinhalese. Following India's independence, the power shortages had been met and AVM studios shifted to the sprawling location in Kodambakkam chosen by AVM, in the year 1948.
In 1952, AVM's Tamil film Parasakthi released in theatres all over Madras and was an instant success.With a powerful storyline and fiery dialogues by a future Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M. Karunanidhi, the film preached social revolution and questioned the authority of Hindu temple priests. Sivaji Ganesan, then a newcomer, was cast in the lead role. By the mid-1950s, he had emerged as one of the top-stars in Kollywood.
AVM died on 12 August 1979 at the age of 72. In 1980, as per AVM's last wishes, AVM Studios commenced film production under Meiyappan's sons A.V.M Kumaran and M. Saravanan, after a seven-year hiatus.

எம்டன் கப்பல் செப்டம்பர் 22 1914 அன்று சென்னை கடற்கரையை இது நெருங்கியது. இரவு 10 மணிக்கு சென்னை துறைமுகத்தில் 13 முறை தாக்கியது. இது முதல் உலகப் போரில் நடந்தது.
Very interesting to hear from Mr. Kumaran and the storied hoistory of AVM. But there is one major error in the recollection of Mr.. Kumaran and his interviewer reinforces the error. This is the reference to Emden and the bombing of the Madras port from the Bay of Bengal.. The Emden hjit Madras not in World War II but in World War I, in 1914. Sri Valli was released in 1945, at the last year of WWII. Something must have happened to disrupt the release of Sri Valli, as I am positive Mr Kumaran remembers the disruption, though it was most definitely not the Emden bombing. There was a light bombing by Japanese airplanes in 1943 but that caused very light damage. So it is likely not the cause of the disruptiuon. So the mystery remains, why was there an evacuation? It also shows how much bombing by the Emden so scarred the minds of people in Madras. So much so that it is now in the popular lexicon to describe any angry destructive person, and is remembered as the source of much destruction of Madras.
The wisdom of AVM's wife and its ready acceptance by AVM is what set apart this banner and its success for next generations as well.
