First Motorcycle Ride Of The Year On A Triumph Bonneville T120 - Winter Ride

  • Finally, a short break in the near constant rain meant I could wheel out the Triumph Bonneville T120 for a winter motorcycle ride.
Staying close to home for my first adventure of the year, I rode over to Ladybower and Upper Derwent Reservoirs. The scenic route along the edge of the water is a great ride any time of the year and even though the weather wasn't completely dry, it was a worthwhile trip just for the views.
In this video you might notice I'm talking a little more than usual. One of my plans for this year are to do a set of videos that are more documentary style, so in order to do that I'm going to create a bunch of smaller 'practice' videos, where I'll be talking a little bit about where I am and any interesting history. So please bear with me, I'm trying something new and I'll hopefully get better at it the more I do.
If you enjoyed this short film, I hope that you'll consider leaving a like on the video or subscribing to the channel. Your Like or Subscription lets CZcams know that you've enjoyed my video, which in turn helps push the video out to more people, it's one of the most genuine ways to support the channel and it costs nothing at all.
Or, if you feel like my mini films are worth £1 of your money, then it would be a huge help if you would consider actively supporting the channel by becoming a Channel Member. Being a member means you'll get access to a little extra content, such as honest gear reviews and the odd behind the scenes video too. But mainly it's a way of supporting the channel and helping me make more of the videos like this one.
Finally, if you'd like more information on the channel, the bike or my travels, please feel free to hop over to my website where you can find articles, photos and journals on everything Classic Rides.

    Thank you,
    Matt.

I really enjoy the format of your videos. I'm in the States and your videos are very "British immersive" so it's a bonus to get some history as well. Thank you for taking the time to make them. They are quite well done.

yes exactly. I have a Bonneville T120 Diamond Edition number 397 of 900. with 7200km and looks brand new, completely original. If you have interest you would be the perfect buyer which I would give my bike.

What a wonderful video. Beautiful scenery, great music choice, nice balance of talking and taking us along on the ride. Really lovely :)

January 13th, 2024: I'm glad you're able to ride in this time of year. Unfortunately, here in Western New York, I'm probably about 2 months from getting my bike back on the road (due to the wonderful weather here). I enjoyed your video. Please ride safe.

I really appreciate what you do with your videos along with the narration and history details of where you visit. Your landscape is amazing and much different from here in L.A. Here I ride to get away from the highway traffic and tend to go towards the mountains and along the Pacific Coast Highway. Cheers! :)

Hey Matt, the narration is really working for me. I think you've got the tone just right and the audio is great - warm, friendly but also a little understated. As others have noted, perhaps the extended POV footage in the second half is out of place with the rest of the video. I know there are folk out there who love that stuff, but it's not for me. By the way, there's a somewhat grim parallel that you might be interested in: the countryside around one of the main targets of the Dam Busters, the Möhnesee dam here in Germany, also has some lovely motorcycling roads.

Quite lovely. Thank you for sharing.

I like this style, good balance of narration with great video/ photography. It’s a bit early for me in Scotland. I think temperature was around -5 last night but can’t wait to get out

  • @TerryMcH-kh6cf

Beautiful visuals, brief discussion of the history, excellent music selection, ( I played along)

  • @Bearded.Wonder

I enjoyed the commentary along with the visuals. I also like the ones without speech as well, so make what you like. It'll probably be good. By the way, I'm envious of the scenery in your neck of the woods. Living in North central Texas, we don't have much at all that looks like this.
