    I never gave Chrysler a second look until they came out with the Hemi. When I found that they crap valve seats and cams. I wish I never heard of the Hemi. I wish I still didn't love them. Even with all their flaws I still find them better than most engines. Sorry to hear its not going to be around anymore.

      You got that right...cross port heads will always create higher levels of VE...inline heads like the LS Chevy lend themselves to create more low end torque, but will never match potential power output on the Gen 3. It's just a design constraint..pure and simple.

      it's also it's Achilles heel, as you get up in to the 8+ RPM area, the exhaust pulls too hard on the Incoming intake charge and draws out Air/Fuel charge.

      The heads are not for 2009 or newer they are for 2008 and older gen 3 hemi’s. Putting the eagle heads on a non eagle engine isn’t straightforward so better aftermarket early gen 3 heads are easier. So they did their job.

      "Robert DeMan
      I've been told factory Eagle heads flow better than factory LS3 heads do.
      The cost of the 5.7 is quite reasonable, and becoming plentiful. The 6.1, and 6.4 still priced quite a bit higher. Most aftermarket stuff for the Gen III is comparable with just about every other engine. The cost of a stand alone wiring harness and a good EFI single plane intake manifold is biggest difference between brand. Arrow/Prefix don't seem to make the NASCAR Gen III intake anymore. Ritter has one but after machine work to clean up casting and get EFI bosses done it's around $1400 just intake. I wish Edelbrock produced a single plane Victor Jr. or Super Victor for gen3 in same price point as all other intakes."
      Looks like the Gen III Hemi's need a HERO to make a carbureted manifold for them. A market waiting to be exploited with all those cheap used 5.7's out there that will drop right into any of the old Mopars let alone all the other vehicles that they will fit in.

    • @davidphillips3953
      @davidphillips3953 Před rokem

      The new hemi block is much more rigid with a nice deep skirt, 4 bolt mains, has a dry lifter valley for less leaks, raised cam location to give it a much shorter, stiffer, lighter pushrod, it also drains the oil back to the pan off the crank shaft to reduce drag and oil foaming, smaller diameter lighter lifters, much better coolant flow characteristics to keep a more consistent temp through out the engine. To achieve all these improvements would have required major redesign of the SB and it would look almost nothing like the SB we know, this was basically a clean sheet design.
