Funding out my 10 year old shih tzu is in fabulous health (she's really half mutt, seems to help) might live to 15-18 was a blessing, but I'd love to be with her for the rest of my life...

Get a mixed breed dog instead of a pure bred. They live a lot longer and have significantly less health problems along the way.
This is so true! Breaks my heart that my perfect little family of rescues (a dog & a cat) will be with me so fleetingly.

My cousin lived in New York and L.A. most of his life, but he had a lifelong love of wombats. He died of cancer 8 years ago, but not long before he died he was able to have a private visit to see the new baby wombats at the San Diego Zoo and it was like he had completed a lifelong wish.

It's the same relationship with animals in this house. She does all the disciplining, and I'm the one who crawls under tables with them, rolls about on the floor, and wrestles, and I'm the one they end up following around. Admittedly, it's dogs not wombats, but still.

He’s ADORABLE!!!! I live in the US, but was an exchange student to Adelaide, S. Australia 🇦🇺 when I was 16 years old… saw lots of these awesome guys in the wild! I remember my host family washed my clothes the 3rd day I was there, hung my bra out to dry outside in the sun…a sneaky little wombat came and snatched my bra off the drying rack and ran off with it!! So, a wombat out there somewhere has a piece of me with them!! Hahaha! Wanted one then, and I still want one today! Now more than ever!! Thanks so much for looking after him!! ❤️❤️❤️

@@Kado1609 wombats have a similar situation to hippos, they look pudgy but are made of pure muscle. they even have a plate of cartilage on their rear to help block their burrows from predators. they are that strong that if they take a hit from a small car on the rear they can be just fine.

I just love how his Mama describes Wardoo's transformation from a lovely little wombat to a teenager, a naughty boy who thinks "he he he what can I get up to next?" 😂❤ he's adorable and knows it!
That was pretty slick for Bronte to take the good guy role in their "good cop, bad cop" scenario. That makes Linda the disciplinarian whenever Wardoo gets into mischief, which sounds like a frequent occurrence.
You can't really discipline an animal like that. It breaks their trust in you. It's not like disciplining a dog or a cat. They're just being their natural selves and don't know they're doing anything wrong.

Awesome work guys. I’ve rescued two wombats. But only one survived from roadkill accidents. I never had the expertise or knowledge on how to care for them. So passed them on to volunteers. But now I know what to do. So if I’m in the position again to help. I can.

So proud of the marvelous loving care you give this little guy. Please people, they are not thinking everyone should get a pet wombat. Leave them in the wild. This was a special circumstance. Thank God they have the patience and the know how to rasie this precious life. God bless this family and their little buddy.

So, no we cannot assume that everyone is bright enough or unselfish enough to know that wombats are wild animals and should absolutely not be kept as pets. 🙄

The heart of these people is amazing. A 30 year commitment for what some people consider nothing more than a large rodent. I'm sure they knew full well at the very beginning of their rescue of this little wombat they would have to keep him forever. That's a good heart. A personal sacrifice to better the life of another living creature.
If only more humans would find that ability in themselves, but instead of helping out a cute little animal, instead try to better the lives of those that are within their own species. But I get it, it's easy to love something cute, and it's very difficult to love an ugly human down in their luck, that could use a hand up. Man. Wouldn't planet earth be a better place for all species?

Yes these owners seem like they own a ranch of some kind since they have a lot of open space and what seems like other outside animals. So he will have a very good life eating couches and running around

I was driving trucks interstate for awhile, and I'd spend hrs trying to think of ways to stop wombats being hit by cars and trucks. Use to break my heart seeing so many dead ones 💔
When it comes to a country that has suffered a near extinction event for its flora and fauna, we only have to look at Australia. To see this ❤ loving couple care for this mischievous little wombat is beautiful to watch. It is people like these will help the flora and fauna recover.

Yes it's heart warming to see. If only all people cared as much. Unfortunately I think it is a lost cause as we're in the minority. The leaders of Australia are only concerned about economic growth. Much of our flora and fauna is concentrated around the coastal fringes which is continuing to be cleared for development.

@@dune7824 hello. I recently saw a documentary of the devastation of the wildlife in Australia. There was one particular part which broke my heart to see. People were trying to find any animal survivors. They came across a little koala and he was crying in pain with all the burns he had suffered. I watched through tears in my eyes.

If Wardoo lives for 30 years in the wild he may live longer in captivity. He may outlive some of his rescuers. So for those who love him he'll be around for a long time to come, at least twice as long as a dog or a cat. That is a blessing.
nah the 30 year thing is maximum in captivity not the wild
also some may or may not know how bad any type of bag of food is for animals as opposed to how they naturally eat in the wild. Of course being in the wild brings on the challenge of there being enough food & surviving other predators. Damned if you do, . . lol
I've seen videos of "parrot families," where the original owner has passed and other family members step in to give the bird familiar caregivers thru his long life.
