- This ingenious device takes you beyond the circle. It's based on an old design, but this version is easy to build and works with an ultra-smooth action. Using a simple micro-adjust feature, it produces a perfectly smooth edge.
Yeah, devices like this is why we love woodwork, brilliant
hello, very good technic !!
you can fit up the electric extension hang the wire from the celling of the workshop ! ! !
no more problems with it !!
Wow, many thanks Sir. I have always wondered how they make an elliptical table top.
This jig is a mechanical engineering work of art !!!
THAT should be exposed in galleries, not those idiotic random splashes of paint!
Beautiful!!!
Excellent video! I'm definitely going to try this...
If you have your cord plugged in above the piece you are working on, overhead, you won't have to fight the cord, nice jig
Great job. Thank you for sharing.
Well mathematics can be the solutions of many many problems in life and this is one of them. There are many manners in which one can draw an ellipse and improvise a jig.
Very nice. Under wing nuts add two washers!
A clever device indeed! And yes, an overhead power source would be helpful, but a great setup anyways.
Great jig for sure. I wonder how much effort would be needed to keep the router stationary while turning the timber. Would certainly stop the electrical cord getting in a knot.
I think you introduced yourself as Richard Kendig. I went to USAF Officer’s Training School in 1968 with a Dick Kendig. Might you be related?
I enjoyed your engineering and video.
Mike
I'd make one improvement, which is only preference... t-bolts that run through the UHMW sliders and black plastic knobs on the top for quicker change out...
VERY WELL DONE...GREAT JIG..

A tip here is to drape the router cord over one's shoulder so that it does not get stuck while routing.
This is just awesome as hell !!!!!
You need a over head power outlet ,very easy to do also a square bench.
just what i was thinking watching this. nice work!!
How do you figure the centers for the screws to get the correct elispe?
Wow. That's slick.
Good luck finding the plans!
What is the maximum difference between the major and minor diameter's with this particular jig ?
I like your thing.
Smart .... very helpful >>>
Fine jig. I had it only in compass form for layout. Thanks for proposing a very handy router model. May I suggest a greater sliding system, for making an oval frame for example? i;e one outer cut and one inner one. In this case you have to keep the same pin adjustments, or else you lose the parallel. Bit tricky to explain.
Hi, your idea sounds nice, but is hard to understand from here. I use a CAD program called SolidWorks (very useful program to create any parts and
assemble) Why don't you make a drawing.
Here is the link to the PDF on how to create the jig. media2.fwpublications.com.s3.amazonaws.com/PWW/Elliptical%20Router%20Jig.pdf
You never showed the lining up of the base so that it was dead center and the grooves aimed correctly.
Nice! But...We take the jig off...? Did I miss anything or how is the jig attached to the work piece? Glue or screws?
should have asked, is the base glued to the workpiece?
Dhaiwat Sant It's attached with 2 screws. The video just jumps but you can see the screws sticking up when he lifts it off. He mentions it in the start too.
Gracias....!!! muy bueno...!!!!!!!!!1
Ellipse and Circle Jig from rockler
should the speed on the router be set on the fastest or slowest?
Im' curious about what bit you are using
would make nice oval picture frames
Nice
what is the router trim or what?
is that a 53e on your bench?
muy bien ,,,
HOW DID YOU CUT THE ' T ' SLOTS IN THE FIXTURE ?
As he states it is made from 1/2" and 1/4" plywood there will only be a simple slot in the lower 1/2" part; the top part is just four separate pieces.
Why is there no sound?
интересно что у него за наушники?
I think you can make it yourself, just loook and learn from woodprix .
I can do it
Im sure you can build it too guys. Just look for Woodprix page
