- I over heard everyone was having major issues trying to figure out the new steam update for tap strafing on controller in apex legends. so I went out of my way to make this video for you beautiful people. hope this helps!!!

Very helpful guide but I wanted to ask something. Before the steam update i had my srafe activator on RB, and I could strafe in any direction looking forward (like I would press RB, looging straight but had my body move left, right, and backwards). With this update I can only strafe in the direction I'm lookin. My question is: can I do something to make it possible so I can strafe like before or is it impossible with this update? Thx in advance.

@trendingdisaster this hasn't been working for me is there any other settings I need to change? My tap strafe used to be bound to my dpad but none of the settings have been working for me :(
Hey I'm switching to pc from console can you please make another video in detail for setting up on controller. And also if you set it up on right bumper does it not effect your tactical ability as by default it's on right bumper. Please explain

Just put it in picture mode and it'll bring you to the old one the better one. Top right. Then choose the game, configure and it'll bring you to the old edit layout.

I used this same video before to set up my tap strafe and it worked. Today I tried playing apex and steam removed my mode shift to tap strafe. I tried setting it back up again but every time I go to set up a Mode Shift Button, it removes the mode shift for some reason
Any help or ideas?
when ever i click the joystick mode shift to tap strafe it just makes me stop moving any fix?

When I click the mode shift it makes my body stand still I don’t understand I never had this issue before
How are you pinging if using your RB doesn’t effect gameplay? Cause every button layout seems to use both bumpers
i use right arrow on dpad to ping
funny how you mentioned that people are wrong about turning the repeat rate to the right instead of left but when i did that it didnt work and then i put it to the left instead of right and it worked for me

How can you make the mode shift button to left joystick
The same way I made it right bumber. You would just find left joystick click.
I have my sprint on the left joystick and it wont let me sprint
you might need to set a new layout for and make sure ur stewam settings are set to steam controller input for controller settings
For controller you need to use auto sprint

Go to your setting and click auto sprint on
My game it when I did this when I try to move the stick would like move around like a hug super fast and don’t let me walk
Would there be any bug or problem if I set the MODE SHIFT BUTTON on my regular jump button? Currently using a paddle and bind my A as jump on it.

@@TRUEgotcha I found out some times I press it too long my character starts getting weird like constantly auto jumping and twitching. Did you got this situation? Or should I just have a respective tapstrafe bind?
How do you unbind your rb from the ping/ ping wheel button?
check pinned comment its the full guide, you have to bind rb to sprint toggle zoom and then move your ping to right arrow on d pad

you need to watch the other video i posted. you will need another app to switch button layout. so like i use an xbox elite series 2 so i use the xbox app to change button layout on there too

so i set it up exactly the way you say in the video but i cannot go forwards or backwards normally is there a reason for that?
gotta watch the full guide in order to do it, gotta use the xbox accesories app and also change ur settings in game to apply these changes for tapstrafing
is it possible to have l3 for picking up stuff and tap straf?
umm actually yes it is you will have to set everything up the same but when u bind the secondary bind to xbox accesories then you just make l3 the x button imnstead of making l3 what i made it in the video

anyway you can show how to do this with the d pad? i have an elite controller and wanna combined it with my back paddle which is my up on d pad

You have to use customized controller settings, I had same issue as use button puncher.
I have paddles so I need to assign mine to my left paddle.. currently having issues 🤯
When I hold my mode shift button, left stick inputs do not register at all in game...

So is there a way to fix left stick click doing its bind in apex? Because sometimes my left stick click will do its in game bund messing up the tap strafe
You have to set left stick click to equip a grenade and then disable left stick click in steam settings
