    This is an awesome video. Thanks for sharing. Unless you know somebody, most people don’t talk about the Coast Guard; so seeing this is appreciated.

    Thank you for this video series. It was easily one of the, if not the most informative videos on this particular subject.

    I was surprised by his answer reagrding post military jobs. I was expecting/hoping for him to mention jobs like Fire/Rescue helicopter ops rescue personnel, med flight medics.. anything but tattoo artists and lawyers. Interesting.

      Timmy Collins the problem with flight medic civilian is. They don’t have anywhere close to the medical training needed to get one off those. On the flip side civilian flight crews usually ( with exceptions like Travis county, Miami, more west coast) don’t do the actual rescues

    Awesome video! Thank you for this and thank you to the Rescue swimmer instructor you interviewed!
    I have a question about Rusty summer careers. Is it possible for them to get paramedic training if they stay in long enough and test to be high enough in a rate?

      @militaryjourneymen  Před 7 měsíci +1

      To my knowledge AST’s are basic EMT first aid qualified and it’s tough to stay current with all their other collaterals but they get it done.

    So with joining the coast guard and wanting to go through the AST pipeline, are you able to have a contract for it as you’re joining or do you have to go in as a nonrate then wait until there’s an opening for it?

    How about opportunities to cross train within the Coast Guard.

    • @sonsoftheedelweiss72
      @sonsoftheedelweiss72 Před 4 lety

      Military Journeymen when I was in the USAF security forces I acquired an injury which resulted in me losing the ability to perform the tasks of my afsc/ job. The USAF allowed me to cross train into another job within the USAF. Would the USCG allow for the same thing. Really asking for my son who went through the AIM program at the academy this summer. Thank you sir.
