- Hurricane Hilary is packing winds and drenching rains that could reach San Diego this weekend. KPBS environment Reporter Erik Anderson has details on how local utility providers are preparing for the storm.

@@jackieveal then the frustration should be directed where it belongs. Not at normal hard working folks. California is not the capital of the United States. It is 1 state out of 50 and it does not control our country. Take the frustration out on the government, not innocents.

it is just utter ignorance, people are so mean and hateful..I lived in San Diego for many years, found it very delightful and diverse....there is no reason to always attach politics to everything that happens weatherwise where people could be in grave danger... our prayers to the people in California...

If you're in a dangerous area get out of there now. Better safe than sorry. It's going to have an impact we just don't know how much or where. The floods will be intense and utilities will be out for a while. Get gas, cash, bottled water and cans of food just incase. Charge your phone. Fill the tub so you can wash and flush the toilet. Boil water to cook with afterward.

As a Gulf coast state resident that has experienced many hurricanes, if you cant weather this you would never make it in a southern state in summer.
