@alwaysyouramanda I live in Washington State, but I grew up in Southern California..never remember hearing of hurricanes in San Diego.
Checking with lifeguards that has to be the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. This is an ocean storm that will cause storm surge and riptides if anyone goes out to the beach they get what they deserve.
Downtown LA flooded last time this happened. Where exactly will you post the lifeguards?
The lifeguards are LA County Firefighters and rescue. They patrol the beach areas and I believe they have a station in Manhattan Beach. Why they mentioned them, 🤷🏾♀️ who knows. Because of the storm, the lifeguards may be reassigned or remain near the beaches to answer to emergencies in that area.

Most likely certain areas will be required to evacuate as in any other emergent calamity, places affected by the same conditions globally speaking, the U.S. should be alerted that this is no different.
