Right?????
For the first time in my 51 years I don't feel alone about repressing big feelings and emotions in my body. You described it so eloquently. I understand myself better too. It gives me hope that I can be myself someday.
I'll be 42 tomorrow and I want to thank you Forest for the reignited hope that younger generations are well equipped to clear outdated baggage! 🙏 This is one of my favorite shows to watch and I just found you about a month ago 👌 GOLDEN! 🤟
I'm so grateful for both of you. Today, I'm grateful that you both direct the conversation toward those of us seeking healing on our own. I don't trust anyone enough yet to let them influence my healing, so I'm therapizing myself the best I can. You both have delivered truth and compassion in ways I desire to emulate; thank you for providing insights into your journeys as well as providing additional resources for my own healing. Be well. ❤️
I just plain can't afford therapy so... Here i am attempting the same thing. Let's hope this works, right?

OMG ❤ "I love you heaps Forrest" Aww you guys😭😱🥰 So beautiful
Your both Just the best, so many ways I appreciate your podcasts.
Feels like I've got two really lovely human beings in my lounge, or when walking with me. 🙏🏼💗🙏🏼
Once again your conversation has made my day/week/ year better! I love the way you two work with each other; working off each other’s strengths. Really appreciate Forrest’s disclosure of his journey and embedding the big principles of healing within the wider world of psychotherapy. Sadhu, sadhu, sadhu.
“Bathing with Forrest Hanson” 😂😂
Very compelling. I start many a morning with you both. Always a benefit!
13:39 I was moved by the love between father and son. Wow!
Grateful for this talk ;)
You two are fabulous.
Thank you both so much for the beingwell podcast and this episode in particular. I discovered the podcast a month or so ago and am gradually working my way through them. As an individual I find the discussions personally meaningful in a beautiful way. I’ve come to look forward to listening thinking of it as a “mental massage” as it nurtures both intellectual and emotional growth. Professionally (I’m a licensed therapist) I value the range of topics and the dialectical format between father and son. I feel it creates depth of exploration and understanding which helps put what are oftentimes complex topics into words. I believe this enhances my work with clients as I attempt to share elements that may be useful to individuals and families. A very heartfelt thank you for sharing of yourselves.
Every episode has been profound! Thank you for these offerings:)
I’m really enjoying how deep and wide your content goes! Thank u.✨🤍✨
Thank you for actually telling us how to complete a pattern, I was about to comment to ask & I was already searching it up on CZcams as normally in these kinds of videos people will drop stuff like that & move on with no practical tips but you very quickly followed it up. I love the compassion I hear in your voices, definitely subscribing.
Glad you mentioned Schwartz's work. EMDR and IFS have been gamechangers for me
Really impressed with Rick Hanson son and his fresh perspectives (which really fall in line with the Buddhist teachings) and make them so relevant and logical for too 🙏 Thanks to Rick Hanson that I have now found his son's wisdom and am benefiting from it ♥️
This is really kind of you Sherri, I appreciate it.
This was so wonderful and fulfilling to listen to, such bright, radiant, loving people. I like how clear but emotionally present your messages were. Thank you, your dad is great, too. Definitely have him on again!
I'm really curious if Dr. Rick Hanson could do an episode on the concept of identity he mentioned at 34:39. This is a duality, between an ever shifting self and some core, emergent ego, that is tough to balance. I'd love to hear more of this thoughts!
Thank you both so much, I so needed to hear this today. ❤
Love listening to you two. Having found you fairly recently I continue to learn.
Forrest really makes himself available here. So much to relate to. That idea about calcification really fits.
Such a lovely 🥰 episode and great essence theme !
Thank you 😊
really enjoyable to listen to thank you
I have listened to a *lot* of your podcasts. I have enjoyed every single one. I usually don't comment on .....well, anything really. More of a CZcams lurker ya know? , but I gotta bust in here to say... THIS one is my favorite of all time on Being Well. @Forrest Hanson, I identify with the whole "top down" thing. I was seen as oversenitive and over emotional just like you. It was my lived experience The feeling of like, disembodiment almost. Your description of it was nothing short of brilliant. ...And it was lovely to hear it expressed eloquently. Thanks for doing so.
It's such a pleasure to see the relationship the two of you have. The love is so....palpable.💖
That was of a super high quality conversation thank you so much for your honesty, kindness and wisdom. I felt very supported listening to you both x
Great podcast! Really appreciate you guys 🥰
I just want to say thank you from the deepest place in my heart for making this content accessible for us. You give me hope that i can heal and explain how to do it. What a profound blessing.
Another potentially life changing episode. Thank you both for sharing multiple pathways to integration. I enjoy your and get so much out the work y’all are doing.
Great talk 😊❤
Love the differences that play out with you and your Dad. My mind is both. Spiritual and very cognitive. They are both really needed:)
I am so enriched by these talks!
Thank you for making me laugh out loud, Rick😂🤣😂🤣! Very punny! I also appreciate and have compassion for Forrest’s awkwardness to the mention of “forest bathing.” I bet it felt pretty cringy for you 😳🥴🫢🤫.
Wonderful work, Forest! ❤
Thanks!
Re: Forrest's devotion to the "stoic" approach to life, first, thank you for sharing honestly.
For me, as an empath who developed a dismissive avoidant attachment style later on, I can relate. As I became more self-aware, I was quickly able to see the link between my devaluation of emotions and a false cultural patriarchy. I don't fault male attributes, I just don't think they exist in competition with female ones, as Eastern traditions figured out long ago, as Yin and Yang indicates. The awareness did not erase inequality, obviously, but I am coming from a more clarified place when I can at least disentangle myself from internalized misogyny.
Also: thank you for acknowledging the functionality of defenses. Speaking of meta, ha, nothing made me feel more defensive than being accused of being defensive. It always made perfect sense to me that the accuser had the greater responsibility to back off and quit doing the attacking that would trigger a defense, instead of poking an open wound and demanding that the other person not flinch.
This is a story of course, and I get the other person's perspective. But if the ulterior intent is to actually be helpful, as Dr. Hansen has noted before, the most helpful approach actually requires a lot of self-control.
“Forest bathing” was such a perfect dad joke 😂😂
The dreaded thing happened to me. I kind of feel like I made it happen. While growing up I wondered just how was I going to become a responsible adult, how would I manage? Agency, agency, agency. I have tried to find a therapist with no luck. Any suggestions as to how to process this? Time is running out. And as usual thank you for the incredible gift you two have been in my (pathic hah) life.
Forest
Hi. Would you please give one or two examples either actual or constructed in which a person is choosing to handle something exclusively cognitively rather than somatically so that we can understand if we are doing the same thing.
In other words, explain what happened, what you chose to do, and what may have been healthier in terms of a somatic/cognitive integration.
what if that part of you that wants to find God is real?
Two things can be true at the same time. Don’t give up on that part🙏🏼
Love the podcast !
Onsen with Forrest sounds, like, really appropriate . You should reconsider ;)
😂😅
@@ForrestHanson I love your podcasts! It has to be so special sharing your belief and knowledge with Dr. Hanson and your Dad!! I love you both! Hanson are you a professional dancer, I see someone by your name on CZcams, ballroom?
Bad long standing reputation ? Change ideas
Thanks!
