- When should you use a self-leveling compound? When should you use skim coat for floors? What's the difference? How are they used?
Many people are still confused about the right product and method to use when correcting their floors. There are two most common flooring problems that should be addressed first before the application of floor coatings: floor imperfection and uneven floor level.
This is very crucial because it can drastically affect the result of floor coating or vinyl tiles installation.
- When correcting floor imperfections, such as pinholes and minor cosmetic defects, we recommend using skim coat for floors or Hardcrete 303.
When correcting the level of the floor, we recommend using a self-leveling compound or Level Up.

Good day sir. My project at home is partly open basketball halfcourt and part covered garage. The flooring is unfinished, semi rough with areas of uneven. Our existing floor is painted. However, we wanted to install laminate but it’s not levelled. But instead of stripping the paint, our mason chipped it off. How can we rectify it to accommodate self levelling compound?

Situation: a 1 year old installed tiles loosen from its adhesive. Now decided to replace the tile to laminated or vinyl flooring. Now removing the tiles, found the adhesive still intact but has a grooves from the tiles causing uneven adhesive flooring.

For topping on roof deck you can use Buildrite Elastocrete. Elastocrete is a flexible, cement-based, fiber-reinforced, self-leveling mortar that can achieve 3500psi after 28 days. It contains a combination of specially selected cement, graded aggregates, synthetic flexible polymers, and a unique set control system.
It can be applied at 5-50mm thickness in one application. The material quickly attains a high surface strength and is walkable after 5-6 hours. Final covering after 1-5 days (*10 mm/ day) depending on the substrate temperature and the ambient temperature of the work area as well as the relative humidity.

It depends if you want a smooth and leveled finish prior to application of floor paint, vinyl or wood planks to repair the waviness of your concrete you need to apply Buildrite Level Up and if you want to make your semi rough concrete and repair the pin holes you can use Hardcrete 303. Both has a compressive strength of 3000psi which is good for foot traffic.

Sir gumawa kami nang roof deck na dapat sana may slope for water to flow. May slope naman end to end but in the middle may imperfections that could cause ponding. My question is, can i use the "Level Up!" to fix the imperfections that cause ponding?

Hi. Thank you for your inquiry. Ordinary Sand and cement mix has weak compressive strength that can cause cracks and scaling, unlike Level Up and Hardcrete 303. Level Up has 1,400psi for 1 day up to 3,600psi for 28 days while Hardcrete 303 has 3,200psi for 28days.

Hi po, paano po kapag yung wall naman, "finished" setup as in ma skim coat and paint pero may alon. Pano po kaya bonding agent dun. Hardcrete 303 din ba gagamitin? More than 4mm po yung lalim ng alon.
You can only apply skim coat on unpainted wall. You need to remove the existing paint to fix the uneven part of your wall for better adhesion of skim coat.

Hardcrete 303 is for flooring use only. After removing the existing paint, you can use Buildrite's Putty Master to fill and repair surface imperfections and voids with a depth more than 4mm. No need for bonding agent.

No sir. You will need a different epoxy for this, you need epocoat tw as primer to ensure bonding with tiles. Then coat over epocoat tw with epocoat fc if indoor, polycoat flex for outdoor.
You can also use epocoat mb, as primer and moisture barrier before applying epocaot fc.
