I've always imagined how amazing a Hitman game would be built using the less-clunkier Splinter Cell Conviction / Blacklist engine. It would feel a lot less glitchy and probably wouldn't highlight how terrible the Hitman NPC A.I. is (thus helping immersion).
There's a serum you can take that counteracts the virus. You can take it before or after being exposed to an infected individual, but if you get infected and _don't_ take it, you'll die within a couple of minutes.
To be fair, 100% of the infected individuals died, so, the lethality of the virus checks out.
As for your alibi for Silent Assassin, one could argue they were already dead... right?

@@zedgovos4914 You can also wear a hazmat suit, which some npcs have. He wasn't, but it's an option
There's also a single dose of the vaccine in the morgue below the operating theater, which gives you complete immunity.
