I would think you would want the top rail installed before tensioning to help brace the posts. Or do the four lags per post do a good job keeping the posts vertical? Getting ready to do the same thing. Black on black looks really nice! Great job!

You are kidding yourself if you think those lags are going to remain tight in those wood planks after several years.
