My friend Jo was Scottish, she had been very damaged by antidepressant drugs, like i have too. We had talked of her visiting me here in Wales, but we were both too ill. On November 2nd 2018 she decided she couldn't keep going anymore and took her own life. I think of her quite often Not only does this remind me of how she was such a kind and gentle young woman of only 32. But she was also was a great photographer too and took pics a lot like in this video. Sleep forever in peace Jo. I hope so much you're at peace now and there's no more of this terrible suffering.
One of my Paternal Forefathers was Johann Gustafsson born circa 1618. He was hired as a Swedish Soldier sailing aboard The Swan for New Sweden in 1642.Also other ancestors of mine are Scottish.I very much enjoy The Classical Music of The Great Highland Bagpipe. One of which is a favorite Lament of Donald of Laggan.
People say Amazing Grace is sad when played on the Pipes: I say nay, as only the Pibroch as played here makes me shed tears. It is such an emotional song. Truly a lament, indeed. I'm a black american and as far removed from Scotland or its lairds as you can get, but I would deffo want this played at my funeral.
I am a Scotsman and my late Australian wife of a 40 year marriage asked for this to be played at her funeral which started with a Maori chant and finished with the bagpipes playing The Black Bear. There was about 250 people including Turks, Ukrainians, Vietnamese, Kenyans, Nigerians, Chileans, Samis and so many others just happily remembering the happy times of as we say in Scotland. Auld Lang Syne which means all the memories. Once the Piobaireachd was playing all of them burst into a mixture of happy, sad and joyous tears. The Pipes do not display the quite sadness that most people experience at a funeral but rather it is the joyful remembrance of the one who has just died plus usually a mixture of the deceased,s favourite tunes and it is played with a fierce defiant anger that the person left us too soon. It does not matter if that person was a mere 105 years old it is always too soon. Of course we will join them when our time comes. We will always follow the pipes no matter whither it is into battle, to Heaven or Hell. After all the Angels do not really play harps but we true believers know that they play BAGPIPES. When you go through the Pearly Gates you will be welcomed by Saint Peter backed by 10,000 Angels playing the bagpipes all playing different tunes at the same time. HEAVENLY
I've heard many a pibroch at cop funerals (my dad was a cop) I'll be sure there's one played at his. My eyes are starting to mist up listening to this...
Grand just grand tune, it is excellent music I would put up there the Van Halen. Even though I’m a YANK, but one who knows good music when he hears it!!!
@@johnouderkirk2984 Yes there are several places to get this Piobaireachd. CeolSean.net, the Angus MacKay manuscripts, and David Glen's to name a few. It is not written, however, in modern notation, so you have to be able to read the ancient way of writing which is rather easy after studying it. I specialize in Piobaireachd so I have tons of these in my files. The best way to use the old script is to listen to the Piob while looking at it.
If Harry takes up the Stuart flag, then MacDonald fortunes may be revived, Cameron fortunes too!! Harry has the blood of Mary Stuart in him! The choice is his. God guide him.

This touches the center of my soul! Thankful to God almighty, he made me a Scot!
Not a sound nor feeling on earth can compare to truly listening to this.
My favourite pibroch so far. It reminds me of the monarch of the glen overseeing the mountains and lochs.
Far too magnificent for a mere laird.

Why bother?
Because their ears are painted on!
Their thumbs belong in our haggis. 🤣
They hate themselves so they go out of their way to try and make other people feel the same way,

It's a pity you haven't put up the whole piobaireachd. Wonderful performance.
Goosebumps. Eh?
Beautifully done.
Very nicely done. After hearing this piece, I may go ahead and learn it👍🏻. By the way, what make of chanter do you play?

Live at the kings hall album by Simon McKerrell
Was this recorded at Winter Storm 2012?
They say a Pibroch is a 'mood' not music. I think it's both.
I agree with you, but those who says it's not music are wrong, it's pipe music in classical form.
not sure, I know there's a pibroch society out there, perhaps they sell the sheet music?
It's in book 9 on page 266.
does anyone knows where to get the sheet music for this wonderful tune from?
There isn’t one. You have to learn it from a master, and memorize it. Then you can add your own flourishes to make it your own.
