    D white doesn't want add weight divisions because he thinks fighters who cant win at one division will jump to the next to be more successful but isn't that how it goes anyway? Paige is right

      What weight classes should be added? Right now there's hardly anyone to fight at 145 in the women's division, and they're probably going to do away with it.

    I wrestled for about 30 yrs. I often had to cut weight up to 22lbs in five days and maybe more.
    I was tired, aggressive, had ups and downs.
    The result was, i got really fat after my career.
    From 188lbs to 280lbs. Now with over 40yrs of age i manage to keep my weight constantly at 209lbs, but it took a Long time.
    Keep going on Paige, you're awesome, but watch your health.

    I have always hated cutting weight,. At weigh-ins and you are off by even half a pound. sometimes they give you 30 minutes to lose that weight and it does suck doing what you have to do to lose that weight... everyone knows how good plastics help but sucks wearing them

    Wow.
    To control and limit weight-cutting you might think of a bureaucratic nightmare. Like having mandatory daily weigh-ins like months in advance (like in every gym), maybe before and after training. Then continuous random audit-like official weigh-in you can't prepare for between weekly and monthly. Then the average weight would be a persons weight class and weight cutting may be detected.
    A variant that might he possible is for this weigh-in to be combined with a medical check-up, measuring sodium levels or another measure of dehydration and add weight depending on those results. One may even calculate a muscle weight class, converting the calculated weight of ones muscles to a body weight for typical healthy non-weight-cut bodies for use as a proxy for weight class (assuming muscle weight is pretty stable).
    Another or maybe joined thing would be an honor system, like stating at how much (dis) advantage a fighter fights. You can still compete outside of you main weight subclass but will be valued for relative performance.
    So for example one can be known as a fighter currently mostly in 120-125 range, with a history of having been both heavier and lighter. You win most fights in your own weight subrange, win all except one single (shameful) loss against lower weight class fighters and gain reputation by defeating half of those 5-10 pounds heavier and even a win against one 15 pounds. No shame in any losses against those classes for sure. It's all about what you dare take on and like a reach (dis)advantage you can't have totally fair fights.
    The result of this would be that those cheating (varying their weight during a year a lot to be low for a big fight) and those still weight cutting will be considered having a fake weight class and will be more challenged by those of their original weight class and will not gain reputation by defeating those of their new lower weight.
    A system of weight subclasses might also be used to generate a world ranking, how well you perform relative to your (muscle)weight. Fun rules could be introduced you have to fight various weights, like at least 2 at +5 and -5 and at least one fight at +10 and -10 pounds (except for the lowest and highest weight classes). Maybe the underdog can score a few points for the ranking for holding up a decent fight even if losing.
    The result would be everyone would be best off being as fit and healthy as they can for their body structure. At the same time this would allow for even more match-ups than would now be possible and even with a clear winner it can always be an exciting match!

      They do. But our bodies can only handle a certain amount of nutrients, food, and even water after a harder weight cut. Many fighters who rush to eat too much get ill, throw up, cramp up, it's awful. The re-fuelling process should be handled super carefully. That first sip of water after a weight cut seriously tastes like the most magical water on the planet though.

    They should randomly weigh people out of camp like USADA do with the doping...and if your cutting to much weight for your division you should be forced to move up... the IBF in boxing have a good system in place they weigh them on fight day and if your over a certain limit you lose some of your purse to the other fighter

    I've tried reading up on this but I just can't wrap my head around it. Let's say I normally walk around at 175ish. If I cut to 155 (I'm just using that as an example) I understand the fact that when the fight comes I'll probably be closer to my "normal" weight. But if the other fighter does the same or similar, where's the advantage?

    • @ChaseSuni
      @ChaseSuni Před rokem

      It’s not that you have an advantage it’s the fact that if you fought at 170 you’d be fighting someone who cut down from 190+ so you have it cut in order to fight someone who’s around your natural weight

      @sidersproductions941 Před 6 lety +1

      Kevin Walker she said the 125 division didn't exist. My point still stands that if you want to fight at that weight you could lose the weight safely and maintain that weight if it means that much to you. No need to put your body through the trauma she did. She started at 138lbs.
