'60s and '70s: throw racquet in the air, jump over the net
'80s and '90s: raise both arms in the air, maybe sink to your knees
'00s and '10s: fall onto the court either on your knees or your back

Trish Prescott Martina retired from singles play in 1994, but returned in the 2000's, and played the French and Wimbledon in 2004, won her last Wimbledon title in 2006. Some doesn't know the sport of tennis...but yes she did win the majority of her titles in before the 2000's, so I stand corrected.

Because it was generally the best tactic on grass at the time, certainly when serving. The Luxilon revolution of the early 2000s changed that, by allowing baseliners to impart far more topspin to their shots, and thus to hit passing shots with much greater velocity that would dip and stay in the court. That made it MUCH easier to pass a player at the net, so serve-volley became a much riskier tactic (something of a niche tactic to unsettle an opponent).

Just for fun/ contrast, heres the biggest anomalies per decade:
1:48 1975 Huge upset Ashe over heavy favorite Connors ( Some say Connors was injured, some say Ashe's choppy style was too frustrating for Connors)
Edit: also 1973 1:23 Many top pros boycotted Wimbledon that year for the ITF barring Yugoslavian Nikola Pilic from competing after his refusal to play in a Davis cup match months earlier (was a very important & prestigious part of the tour back then) so Kodes winning it kind of has an asterisk, as prior recent Champs like Smith and Newcombe didn't compete
4:33 In 1987 Becker (won the 2 prior years) was taken out by a basically complete nobody early on, Pat Cash hampered by injuries in his career but too strong that day to win his sole grand slam & deny Lendl what would be perhaps his best chance to win wimbledon
5:33 Michael Stich winning his sole grand slam, unusual that he took out both Edberg and Becker (the finalists of the prior 3 years) 6:54 Kraijcek winning in the middle of the Sampras reign (defeated Sampras in the QF) for his only slam win too, also an anomaly & by far the longest rally on a men's championship point to date
00s: 8:00 2001 Ivanisevic winning wimbledon as a Wildcard, nobody remotely seemed to expect him in the twilight of his career to make a deep run let alone win (of course Sampras was famously taken out by young Federer)
8:11 2002 Hewitt winning wimbledon. Still hard to believe in a way Hewitt of all people won it and Roddick never did. The grass was slowed down starting that year by changing the grass seed composition/ arguably to encourage longer rallies and better viewership. Regardless kind of weird transition phase at the top of the tour (Johanson a fairly average pro upsetting/ defeating Safin to win a slam also in 02 also unusual and of course in 04 pre Nadal the Coria choke at roland garros also comes to mind) & of course after that nobody outside the big 4 until Alcaraz in 2023 would win wimbledon on the men's side
2010s: Hard to decide but I guess either 12:27 2016 Murray winning wimbledon again (arguably his peak year, or at least other members of the big 4 not playing as great that year. Usually tough for him to break past all of them, only slam he won more than once) or 2019 (happened after this video) very unusual for Federer to lose a slam final after having championship points, but not the first time Djokovic came back match point down vs Federer, happened twice at the us open in early 2010s

The men's game was way more interesting when Murray (and Wawrinka) were regular spoilers, not QUITE as good as the Big Three but very much capable of beating any of them on a good day. In fact, from 2012 through 2014, Murray and Djokovic were the most dominant players in the ATP, and again in 2016. It's such a shame that Murray's body gave out right when he was at his peak.

rarely people here acknowledge the greatness of Pete Sampras. Although Federer has won one more, for me he is the real King on Grass. He won all his finals at Wimbledon and played way less matches (63-7, 90%) out there than Federer (101-13 89%). On womens side, clearly Steffi Graf has dominated in her career, what a player she was

Sampras was a great player, but the 90s was a time when serve was so heavily dominant at Wimbledon, and Sampras had the best serve in the world.
