Of course he loves to win, but his sad and lower voice when talking about 2009 final against Roddick shows that Federer really feels bad for him. Andy once said that Roger was trying to minimize the celebration in locker room when his opponent was there. I love the fact that tennis players are so humble, civil and polite with each other. Anyway, let’s go Roger!
mylink1812 truly a great and humble champion who is generous towards his opponents..
I watched that final and I felt the same way really... Roddick was at a disadvantage serving second, and the game he lost was due to unfortunate errors really... Otherwise there wasn't much to separate them.
tennis"man" players are so humble, civil and polite wich each other
If I remember correct Roddick had one or two set points in the second set, and missed a very easy volley on one of them. That point turned the match, sad for Roddick.
No, not really. It was a difficult volley, and made even more difficult that Roddick was never a natural volleyer. Henman, Edberg or Mcenroe would have found that volley no doubt, but they are some, if not the best net players ever.
Roddick had his chances, didn't convert. If he would have played aggressive from the baseline he could have easily won that match i straights/four sets.

Hopefully!

👍👍
I'll cry when Federer would decide retirement. He's my all-time favorite player.
When Federer stops to play tennis, I'll miss him too. What a genious player, what a wonderful soul.🥇
Yeah, i think so
probably my all time favourite sportsman.
He's come back from a few injuries to be the best again.
Tennis is going to suffer a lot when Federer retires. I can hardly imagine men's tennis without Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic. How many people will keep watching?
Could listen to him talking all day long 😀
Neelabh Srivastava that’s me
Fatal fehdahl peqderer bederer meame
He should go into commentary after retiring
Federer and Wimbledon belong together. I hope Wimbledon could name something after him one day, even though he's not British.
Imagine if they had done that when Sampras won 7 titles? What would they do then after Federer won 8?
Rod Laver Arena and Margaret Court Arena in Australia. Billie Jean King Tennis Center and Arthur Ashe Stadium in America. Court Philippe Chatrier and Court Suzanne Lenglen in France.
They all name their stadiums after people from their own country, not just anyone who is successful there.
But he is us doubtfully the GOAT!!!
He should be deserved something!
Then his hometown tournament in Basel can name something after him, just like Barcelona did for Nadal.
Sharada K oh they will.
hah backwards pants 2007.
honestly first time knowing about that
Lol, that was pretty funny.
Roger "Kris Kross" Federer
@@BlizzyFoxTF First time too, haha! Ive seen that clip so many times...Feds just to much of a GOAT for anyone to notice...
Yeah
This video could have been 3 times longer and I still would have watched it all in one sitting. Well done.
like the 3 finals he lost to grass court goat nole
@@thodoristolis6009 yeah Federer is 5 years older than the 🤡,noke got lucky,Federer takes risks and the 🤡 ovic just puts the ball back in court
@@thodoristolis6009 loved Federer making in cry at three consecutive us opens and lived their 2012 semifinal too.
It's amazing how empathetic AND sympathetic he was for Roddick. Truly a great champion he is, Federer
Slimmy Roger is well disposed to Andy Roddick. .
The biggest tournament in the world of tennis is getting even more glamour thanks to this man : Roger Federer. A magnificent person, a huge champion is telling a remarkable story. A story that hasn't finished yet, a story that nobody will ever want to hear the end of. Respect Roger Federer !
cant say any better
Brandon Swag ohh one more lonely Serena fan
It's a clear love story, like Rafa and Roland Garros, Guga and Roland Garros, Borg with RG and Wimbledon:
but I think it is the opposite case; Roger gets more glamour because of Wimbledon, since it is the coolest tournament of all.
Andy Roddick is an exceptionally talented player and a great man. I always pulled for him to win, but he happened to be playing in the same era as the greatest player of all time.
He wasn't that talented. Only his serve was above average...
@@prabesh8277 he literally made so many grand slam finals wtf are u talking about
Who will come here after The Great Tennis Legend Roger Federer Retirement on 15/9/2022..To see his 8 Wimbledon winning Glory...
Here after 2019 match. That final against Djokovic. The longest Wimbledon final ever!!!!! Unforgettable match!!
Really painful 😭😭😭😭
5 in a row at two different grand slams is just incredible and probably will never be beaten.
Federer really has a heart. The way he was talking about Roddick...shows he's just a true tennis fan like the rest of us.
7:42 the reason, apart from tennis, why people consider him the GOAT!
Selflessness, generosity and a humble nature.
Easier to be selfless generous and humble when u are winning. When he loses he isnt always like that, espcially vs djokovic
@@vinichenzo4811 agreed
Who is here after his defeat in the 2021 quarters? That might be his last. 😭
I hope not 😭
Me but i hope not..it hard to see hom stop from tennis
I am here.
Please not
I am... But probably not his last one I would say. He didn't get a chance to reach the level he wanted to
I love that Wimbledon edited the video to make the music in the part where Federer talks about Roddick to be more somber and not celebratory. Really shows respect to Roddick and conveys just how much everyone was saddened by his heartbreaking lost.
"2003 was special, 04, 05, 06 and 07, I don't remember much as I was in cruise control"
The level of class he exudes in this video alone is mesmerizing
Such a great role model
Dude this guy is the goat of athletics, not just tennis. Such a classy, funny, well spoken, nice guy. Great image for Tennis.
What an absolute class act in every single way.
I love it how his empathy and care for Andy Roddick isn't the offensive patronising pity that some people display. He truly cared for the man.
Nobody can play tennis as beautifully as this man❤💯
I love the look on Federer’s face @ 0.11. It’s the look of a man who knows he is going to win his first Wimbledon that day.

One of the best 10 minutes I've ever lived ❤
This is pure gold!!!.. Thank's Wimbledon for posting this!
I've spent my Entire teenage and School Days watching this Legend winning Grand Slams again and again and again and he's still going strong. Love and Massive Respect from Pakistan ♥️

Look at the umpire at 8:32 :D
HAHAHAAHA
That's hilarious. Good eye.
He was showing it's out not celebrating lol
Good catch!!
good catch man! haha
My favorite player ever ! Best player for ever
Laver with his two calendar year Grand Slams (compared to Djokovic´s and Federer´s combined effort of zero!) might have a word to say about this. Federer may be the best of his generation (athough his h2h against Nadal says hello), and Djokovic is just one of the many great players in tennis history.
Mcenroe best ever player, wooden rackets took more skill than these goons

The man is blessed.
Wore his Pants the wrong way 2007 🤣
Nadal finished the match the wrong way :)
As a die hard Federer fan, I will never forget when he won in 2009 against Roddick, as happy as I was for Roger, I felt really bad for Andy.
It could've been 9 this year,,,, im still sad,,,, :(((
He makes it all look soooooo easy. But the great ones always do.
He will come back next year. That too, stronger!
Let's not lose hope.
@Brozga// - He will, no doubt.
He will rest up while the others tire themselves in the clay season! He actually has real potential of beating Novak this time! I would say 55-45 Federer.
God bless u R.F let's go for 9th Wimbledon
Just the best tennis player of all times!!!
But hes still being the humble, simple and nice guy he always was...
What a man. What a career. 🐐
His wife being there every single time is just beautiful...great wife, great family, amazing career...the GOAT

FEDERER has one more Wimbledon in him I reckon! Anyone else agree??
Robert Marston depends on his draw.
I don't think tournaments are "in" players, but I think he'll win one more, yes.
It's still ridiculous that he didn't drop a set in 2017, but never did it when he was in his prime. 03-07 were still all better tournaments for him.
Well he had a bit of luck as well in '17 that Cilic had blisters and couldn't move properly. I was delighted that Roger won though.
I just love how his wife is always there for him. Love their story!🥰
This made me teary-eyed! Incomparable! ❤️ #Maestro
Classy, Brilliant and when he mentally and physically is sound he is literally poetry on the court. The Backhand is such a thing of beauty....☝️
Greatest player ever. And also a great character, a real gentleman.
Terrific piece...beautiful memories...hopefully we will have a follow up on a ninth title prior to next year's Wimbledon...
Fed could have 4 more. He lost in 5 sets to Novak 2 times and nadal once. Even in 2018 he should have beat Kevin Andersen.
Its amazing...when all is said and done Djokovic will be the GOAT. But not necessarily because of tennis, but will and belief in the biggest moments. Down a break in the 5th set against Rafa 2012 Aussie final, 5th set vs Stan 2013 Aussie Open, 5th set vs Stan 2015 Aussie Open, down 2 match points vs Roger 2019 Wimbledon final, same scenario 2011 us open semis, 5th set Wimbledon final 2014, 5th set comeback vs Tsitsipas 2021 French Open, 5th set vs Thiem 2020 Aussie Open final, 5th set vs Rafa 2018 Wimbledon, etc. How many of Djokovic’s 19 majors required gutting out a 5 setter if not multiple 5 setters? Thats what will ultimately separate Novak from Roger and Rafa. His ability to cross the finish line rather than fall just short.
he lost in 5 sets to Novak twice, not three times
@@mellis9729 hopefully this year he will do the grand slam...
@@mellis9729 very well said. He seems to find a way in those big moments when the situation is stacked against him. I would love to hear him discuss what goes through his mind in those tense, down and out moments. Perhaps he reveals the secret herbs and spices when he retires. Haha 😂
