    Almost every year at least one of finalists was from Czechoslovakia.... Lendl, Mecir, Navratilova, Sukova, Mandlikova...

    The 1985 final where Hana Mandlikova beat Navratilova is the best women's singles match I've ever seen.

      I totally agree. Best combination of athletic and feminin way of playing, futhermore she knew how to behave on a tennis court. Really pitty that she was hurt so many times during her career.

      Oliver Hees Steffi was a lady on and off the court. She knew how to behave. She let her racquet do all the talking. Amazing player!

    Evert and Serena are tied with six singles titles in the Open era. Chris has said in the past that her 84 loss to Martina was one of her toughest losses.

    Martina really had some tough loses. She lost two finals on a final set tie break. Tennis can be extremely cruel.
