Almost every year at least one of finalists was from Czechoslovakia.... Lendl, Mecir, Navratilova, Sukova, Mandlikova...
Czechoslovakia really was the powerful of tennis in the 80s!
It was a great decade for Czechoslovakian tennis.
Or even the best decade.
0:58 Borg was certainly ahead of its time, even knew about social distancing.
Bringing back childhood memories, especially ‘88 and ‘89 with Steffi Graf and Boris Becker winning the championships.
Win or lose, Lendl had the best handshake 🤝
My grandad used to coach lendl when he was a teenager
@@jxck6198 Omg that is awesome. Do you play tennis?
@@BLACKTREAT yeah I do I play it full time
Graf had the worst.

The 1985 final where Hana Mandlikova beat Navratilova is the best women's singles match I've ever seen.
arguably, Hana's greatest Slam win ever beating both Chrissie and Martina .
by far! The intensity and shot-making : just never seen before or after! Magic Hana
@Max E Steffi Graf beat Gabriela Sabatini in the 1988 final.
@Max E That match doesn't come close to this one for shot-making and quality of play from start to finish. A better option would be their U.S Open semi-final from 1986.
Lendl was like the end boss of the US Open in the 80s.
Don't forget McEnroe
Haha, well said 😁
Yes, 8 finals in a row, crazy
The power of Becker's serve compared to the rest.
Graf was so powerful and elegant at the same time. The beginning of her dominance. 1988, the year of the Golden Slam
I totally agree. Best combination of athletic and feminin way of playing, futhermore she knew how to behave on a tennis court. Really pitty that she was hurt so many times during her career.
Oliver Hees Steffi was a lady on and off the court. She knew how to behave. She let her racquet do all the talking. Amazing player!
The beginning of the great steffi graf. What a champ
7 Rings the GOAT Steffi Graf
Every person who won the title are bonafide Hall of Famers.
Lovely.... Some of the scoreboard says it was very nail bitting.... Please post these full matches
Graf!
Couargeus the GOAT in my opinion
Wow, Ivan Lendl played 8 consecutive finals. Amazing
Thank you for these video its good to know the tennis history!!!
THIS WILL BE INTERESTING ! Can't wait !
I miss the stadium back then
8 Finals and 3 Wins by Lendl and he does not appear in the presentation image of this video. You are ridiculous
3:43 Chris hits Martina over the head with her racket. Love it 😂
Great memories
Basically the international Czech Championships, played in NY.
Lendl was in almost every one
8 straight finals. What a Goat!
Marco Barbera wouldn’t go that far
He was cold & epic. Def the head of the class of the becker & edberg generation.
Evert and Serena are tied with six singles titles in the Open era. Chris has said in the past that her 84 loss to Martina was one of her toughest losses.
STEVE Z she looked devastated too
@@fuckurbody But beating Martina in 1984 was like trying to win the lottery.
It's natural.
golden age of the tennis.
Boris was the first one to returned to the center of the court to celebrate
Lendl, perhaps the greatest male grand slam winner to never win Wimbledon. A great player to watch. Who else can be mentioned?
Pancho Gonzales, along with Lendl, are known as the greatest players to never win Wimbledon.
... those legs from Sukova! Wow!
1984 final Mac v lendl same as RG that year
0:55 COVID safe!
Martina really had some tough loses. She lost two finals on a final set tie break. Tennis can be extremely cruel.
Lendl 8 finals in a row
those two women at 5:22 😂😂
Graf gano 88 y 89. 88 fue su goldem slam
I feel so bad I’ve never seen Mandlikova before this video
Every one's hitting the ball like a bunch of sissies. Then Boris turns up and.....BOOM!
Have some of that !
2:05 US Open comb-over champion.
Why does no one come after McEnroe for doping? He flat out admitted it in his book.
懐かしい⁉️ボルグは一度もUSオープンで勝てなかった。1981年のウィンブルドン決勝でマッケンローを破ったが、
USオープンでリベンジされた。

I wonder who has that racquet that Boris threw?🤔
🎾🥂🤪not me, unfortunately
I wonder if an unattentional viewer got the racqet on his head.....:-)
It's soooo refreshing to see adult women and men being naturally happy not this theatrical, childish, fake celebrations we saw in the last 20 years or so.
Second
I couldn't stand Connors! Yuk! Nasty behavior.
