I'm completely baffled how some of you say this looks like a let-down.

CaLeb Weems aside from some facial animations and generic missions they've shown, people are also worried that it will be more like dragon age inquisition than mass effect.

Because instead of a streamlined, immersive experience, we will get generic side quests where you will have to kill X wild animals and collect Y minerals to build these "optional" outposts - it's literally here in the trailer like it's a great feature.

1) How are there already existing colonies in andromeda, if we only just arrived? exact quote - "locals"
2) Why do we need to build relationship with anyone from the initiative?(for example crogans) we are on the same side, no?
3) Why does pathfinder even bothers with colony issues? his purpose is to find habitable worlds, not act like community manager.

The previous games are nothing like this. They're very good in their own way, but they're shooting corridors with minimal exploration, unlike Andromeda.
Also, you should definetely play the original trilogy if you have the chance.

Sorry but i got the feeling there will be repetative missions for each planet - do x to make outpost, unlock vault - complete vault, move to another planet, repeat.
eh i thought that to, i mean the new zelda game has that with the tower system that unlocks areas on a map but when the map is absolutely huge, having those allows for fast travel alot more.....when you start to have those that only pull maps and then you have seperate ones for fast travel is when things get a bit annoying like with farcry primal

Dan Andromeda seems actually very limited, having his heart in script and graphics. Zelda is more, more open and variable. It's not better or worse, it's a different gaming philosophy; but I think it was important to notice.

Yes, this is a "soft reboot", so it is a completely new cast of characters, and is designed to be beginner friendly. If you have any questions about the series just ask.

That wasn't a question. You were just spewing nonsense with no proof that the game is not going to be great. Unless it's actually played till the end and judged on gameplay elements and story, one cannot jump to conclusions. It's quite clear that they have gone to great lengths, right from the background voices to the visuals, to new elements of gameplay while retaining what we liked about the old game. I'm going to guess the game will be HUGE if the story is told well. Esp. if they do it like the orig. ME. Fingers crossed. Even if they don't, I'm going to say the gameplay will still be a blast.

What about new species!? This is another galaxy. Yet, we only see one new species. I really hope they are just hiding all that other content.
Keep in mind this is in one star cluster, without a mass relay network or an equivalent the major races of andromeda may not have spread out as much as those in the milkyway.
Well they have shown the Ket and Whatever specie the pink tentacle fellah was, I am just really hoping I don't end up seeing planets in the Andromeda worlds populated with Humans and other species of our galaxy, unless of course we colonize said planet.
Two species so far, plus whatever the synthetic Remnant were/belonged to, but there are probably more yet to be revealed. Keep in mind, this is the Heleus Cluster we are talking about, not the entire Andromeda galaxy. We can't have too many space-faring species in just one cluster, that would just be hard to believe. And there aren't any Mass Relays in Andromeda, so travel beyond the Heleus Cluster would be rather... difficult.
Keep on mind this is only ONE star cluster of an entire galaxy because Andromeda does not have Mass Relays, so who knows what alien species are yet to be discovered. They have already shown off 3 new aliens (Kett, Angara, Remnant) and there are possibly others that will surprise us.
There's at least 3 new species, I believe. And a lot of what we're going to see is old species at first, because the entire point of this expedition is to find a new place for the familiar races we already know to live.

I hope you can revisit planets after completing a mission on them. For example in Mass Effect 3 you were only able to go to Mars once. Whereas in Mass Effect 1 you were able to go to the Moon many times.
I have never played any of the Mass Effect games... I preordered this one 😆
Do yourself a favor and play the original trilogy if you can. It's an amazing and unique experience.

After you play this one (even if you don't like it) go play 2, its seriously one of the best games ever made, the ending mission alone is more exciting than most movie climaxes. Don't touch one, its way too dated and boring by todays standards. 3 is good but....don't expect much.
Why tho? especially if you haven't played the others you have no reason to put down money on this one before you find out the general reception of it. At least wait to make sure it's not another DA:I. I mean you really have nothing to lose if you don't preorder.

ME2 and 3 had zero and ME1 had at least 20 but all of them were small, barren wastelands that reused he same 3 dungeon layouts over and over again. I'd much rather have a handful of large explorable with quality content in it than tons of barren, bland, copy and pasted planets with only 3-5 things to do on them.
the ones you can land on are expansive and well thought out. No Mans Sky and ME1 are testaments to why quality>quantity

It seems like the devs put a lot of thought into differentiating this game from the previous mass effects. How it actually works out remains to be seen but I appreciate the effort.

honestly, the milky way portion is done and over with lol i mean one of two things happened...either everyone developed warp drives/wormhole drives that are faster than the ones in there or the mass effect gates exploded and destroyed every system that contained a mass effect gate....there was a piece of lore in the game that said there was once an invasive species that was found on a planet and to contain it they performed a mission to disable their mass effect gate by destroying it but they possibly destroyed the entire system in the process as they could no longer communicate with them and i believe they said it destroyed the entire system...it was in ME2 i believe

It's amazing that we get an amazing single player experience like this as well as an incredibly fun survival multiplayer. That doesn't happen often anymore.

After these past disappointments, i'd unfortunately agree. The shift from great stories, atmospheres, music, etc seems to be changed with an effort on great visuals, flashy things, and LOTS of filler. Dragon Age Inquisition was absolutely packed with "go find 5 chickens!" It got turned into a single player MMO essentially.
I'm definitely not buying this one right away, from what i've seen.

Origins was awesome. 2 was a disaster and felt like I went back to the 90's in quality, and inquisition just felt like they said "more stuff means better game, right?"
The more I see the less I like. Looks like a whole lot of empty terrain I'll be driving over on my way to complete a bunch of fetch quests. Yay! 60 hrs to complete, 20 hrs driving from point A to point B, 10 hrs killing space rats for generic NPC, and hopefully 30 hrs of what I want.
I hope they learned from the mistakes made in Dragon Age Inquisition regarding fetch quests

There was plenty of things to keep you busy in all the mass Effect games. Exploration and side quests in 1, mining and side quests in 2, and War asset acquisition in 3. Now we've got something that could expand the playtime by incorporating the best or unrealized parts of all three

0:25 - 0:27 / Guess Bioware still had the 'Dragon Age Inquisition: Portal in the Sky' asset lying around.
I'm not worried about whether this game is going to be good or not given the track record of ME games, and how long they've been making this one for. My only worry is the amount of micromanagement you may have to do, like deciding who and when to add to your team, when and how you build the infrastructure, etc. I want to shoot the shit out of things, make discoveries and learn the story, not manage every little detail.
Gonna get this game. Had a great time going through ME 1-3. Would be nice to have an expansive space exploration game, and Andromeda will perfectly fill that bill.

Having only played ME1 and ME2 this looks incredible. Such an expansion on things to do. For some reason I felt ME2 was a bit short but maybe I rushed through the main story line too quickly.
I like the fact that male Ryder in armor looks like a Spartan-IV. sweet. ;^)
There will probably be a lot of filler-space on those planets, so the car actually has a use. When they say single planets are going to be bigger than the whole Dragon Age map, you always have to think about how detailed this world is going to be then...i am still super hyped for this game, but you gotta be realistic at some point.
It may only take place on pne cluster but it seems the planets will not be barren like the previous games plus ot sounds like you can go on almost every planet
