Excellent. Thank you 🙏
Hey Steve! At what mileage should you switch the sparkplugs on these new gen silverados?
About 100k miles, but I've seen them go a lot longer than that
@@steevegmtech7326 Appreciate it, thanks for your knowledge
My Yukon Denali 2016 (6.2l) has a miss fire and I wanted to change the spark plugs and the coils, but my mechanic told me I couldn’t change them myself because there’s a lot of sensors and things I could do wrong but after seeing this video it looks fairly simple, am I being played by my mechanic? He wants to charge me around 560 dlls.
Thanks in advance im not very mechanically inclined
You got this it is not that bad but it might slightly different for your year and model, watch that video also for more insight

How many miles on this truck? 2019 needing plugs already seems odd… unless there’s 80,000+ miles on it. My 5.3 liter tends to “oil up” 1-7-4-6 cylinders, so I check them regularly. I’ve only replaced plugs once around 100,000 miles (currently at 135,000). Good video too!!
To be quite honest the truck didn't really need it, the customer insist to replace due to mileage ,it has 120k miles on the truck, it is a 6.2L
If they oil up u need to check the valve cover spark plug seals
@@arcadeatticI think they oil up because of the stinking AFM shutting down those cylinders routinely. At least twice a year I check all plugs and specifically pull 1-7-4-6 and check for excessive oil. Thanks for the recommendation though; easy enough to check.
Did you disconnect the battery before changing the spark plugs or you can still change them while the battery connected?
I changed them while connected
Oh ok. . Appreciate the response.
just had my spark plugs replaced but i didnt do the wires because 2 weeks ago my truck when i put in drive is starting to have a rough idle (not terrible but noticeable from the 4 years ive had it) when im stopped but no check engine light. Should i replace the wires? i have a 2019 Silverado 5.3L w/ 93k miles
I would at that point, i didn't replaced those in the video neither
Should I change mines on my 2019 gmc sierra? It has 67k miles
You can if you want, it doesn't hurt, but in my experience you still have about 35k left lol
@@steevegmtech7326 thanks ! When my truck is parked I noticed some vibration on the engine so I was thinking it’s time for some new ones
Yea i would do it at that point
Spark plug socket size?
5/8
I was going to replace my spark plugs this weekend. I only have 80k miles on my 2020 Silverado. I have no signs of misfires or anything, just thought it was about time to do them (preventative maintenance). But let me ask you: in your experience do these spark plugs typically last to 100k or little more on the 5.3l L83? If so then I’ll wait till then, like I said, I only have 80k miles right now and no misfires.
I've seen gm spark plug go past 150K although gm recommend them at 97,5k miles, if you want , you can wait a little as long as you don't have any drivability concern
@@steevegmtech7326 great, thanks. I assume it’s also good to go ahead and do trans flush, rear & front differential flush around the 100k mile marker as well Eh? Possibly the fuel filter as well?
You can do those thing before the 100k miles mark, you are most likely past due
@@CthulhuTheGAWDmy 2019 AT4 just hit 96K and I started buying the plugs and wires. No misfires but just wanted to do it for preventative maintenance. I did do front and rear differential fluid change out with AMSOIL. Transfer case fluid I did myself as well. I did take it to the dealership for the transmission fluid change out and damn that was $800 but it was some work and I didn’t have the time for all that 😂. Flushing my coolant system this weekend with amsoil 50/50 so I’ll be riding new again in about a month
@@Texas_G_Longhorns which trans do you have? I was quoted $250 to flush the 6L80.
