US Soccer needs to go ahead and make this happen - we need that fighting spirit back.
He's be a huge improvement over Gregg.
💯 why they haven’t already installed Jesse Marsch into the USMNT set up is beyond a joke. He is a good manager
Was the assistant coach back in the day, he is clearly a true football 🧠
For real!
Eh another “system” guy, much more charisma tho
Marsh is still learning. I think Leeds is a really difficult team to coach. You have to be a strong coach to handle the pressure of the club and the fan base. I think a team like Bournemouth, Sheffield, Fullham, Wigan are clubs he should look for who can implement his style but let him grow…
I freaking love these USMNT behind the scenes stories LOL.
Just imagine Marsch was the USMNT manager. We’d win it all
@@Foos3yOW a month after your comment and now there are rumors he could coach Canada!!! Crazy stuff.
Compare this to any interview that Berhalter has done. How is it possible that USMNT has the least charismatic and least inspiring coach that you could ever imagine? Jesse made clear his interest in the USMNT job, but they picked Berhalter instead. Really, it’s unbelievable.
jesse marsh has 0 tactics. he has kickball rush and sprint AYSO tactics
GB, Jesse are not the coaches I want for the NT....Jesse's run and gun, fight is not what the US soccer need...
@@Pelerincha only way the players know in all honesty. No proof in understanding the vast dynamics of systems. Or an individual player with versatile abilities.
Marsh isnt related to anyone. Imo neither should have the job. US would’ve been better off with Lopategui over these two.
This is the longest public interview for the USMNT job I've seen.
Clint made the point I've been making for YEARS when it comes to USA v Mexico...when you're ALWAYS playing home games you aren't being tested like other teams. Even if there are 50k Mexican fans in the stands they are predominantly Americans...and the environment is still familiar, in the stadium, hotel Etc. They're not dealing with the same situations as they would if they were in other countries
I truly enjoyed the honesty and unfiltered conversation in this episode. I have so much respect for Jesse now. I especially admire the strength of Kate to just go there as the sole journalist amongst former players. This is what I want in soccer commentary. Epic
At first I wasn't excited about this episode, but then I just finished the Ali episode and now I gotta watch. Jesse is an American soccer pioneer, been through evey aspect of soccer, player coach, TV, excited to see this
This show is so great, grew up watching these guys on USMNT
This is a gem!
I rate him as a coach, but he should have never turned down Southampton.
Them referencing the pimp squad for life clip is hilarious 😂
I hope Maurice Edu makes a leap to try and coach. I think he has a good sense of how to become a solid manager(of people)and coach(tactics, strategy). He is Someone who has played in America, In Europe, and the USMNT national team(especially with WC experience). And was always respected by his peers and coaches. His commentary has been solid too. I feel like he and Michael Bradley can be really good future soccer coaches and potential USMNT HC
He nailed it on the wc coverage with Ochocinco, I hope he stays put
If Charlie would have been available that 2010 would've made a proper run. Jozy an Charlie were lights out up top, Dempsey at his natural CAM spot.
Welp, I did not expect to tear up watching this interview!
amazing interview. Plug him in as our coach asap.
I just looooove Kates shirt 🐐. 30:32 is what you came here for..
I see Kate is a fan of Mohammad Ali. Nice touch!
Rudi völler is from Hanau. Great show.
Loved this episode, I’m a big Jesse Marsch Fan
Making it clear only liking these episodes because of Clint. Man is just funny and a héroe to all of us north east Texans. If a bow legged 5 foot 6 receding hairline player made it in the prem and made us look good. Anyone of us can make it 😅. Clint if you read this I need a signed jersey from you! Preferably a Tottenham jersey so I can hang it in my master bedroom. My son will be professional some day and would like to showcase who you were regional role model.
I hope one day he comes back to New York Red Bulls and win the MLS Cup, hes the only coach that ever came so close to doing that with majority of his players being from the USL
I Like Jesse, Good dude
He’s so right it’s crazy. Wish he was our coach fr, it would be one good thing in the world but we’re stuck with corruption and GGG 😞
Not sure Jesse Marsch is the coach for USMT, but we know Gregg is not. Breahalter is the Wish version of Southgate, and that's an insult to Southgate.
it's funny, he hasn't proven himself to be a very good manager but i'd still trust him more with the USMNT than Berhalter lol
His CV is miles better than Greg's lol
@@TrumanCrumpx i mean, miles better? Marsch was okay at the two smaller Red Bull clubs but he was awful at Leipzig and Leeds. yeah Marsch won some silverware with a Salzburg team that has won the league 14 out of the last 17 seasons, but honestly, i bet Berhalter could do that. we are splitting hairs between two pretty uninspiring coaches here in my opinion!
Amazing Manager!
28:55 😂😂😂
Clint " y'all needa stop talking that shaiza " lmaooo haha
We need Jimmy Conrad on here next
I can’t explain how much I want Jesse to be the USMNT coach
18:00 Jesse just basically called Gregg's team soft and I love it because he's absolutely right. This current team has all the talent in the freaking world and arguably our best team ever if you rate on only talent, but there's no dogs on the team. We need some Dempsey's.
I was just thinking during the legit fifa windows in the upcoming 2 yrs would it be smart for usmnt to travel and play the first team players with a few reserve players to replace players that are playing for their countries during the qualifying window, to play like man city,Barcelona,Real Madrid, chelsea,Newcastle , top teams in brazil, Argentina,England ,Spain during those windows to play actual good competition rather than playing lower level countries that can’t help the progess of our team.Tbis can also test our tactics and how we can adjust aganist these teams that play similar to the national teams of their respective countries ?
The player profile of the current national team fits perfect with the managerial style of Jesse, especially with the way he tried to manage at Leeds. He would have a better defense, way better front three and more depth options at midfield. The national team would perform way better under Jesse.
9/10 set guys, but red beer cups?
jesse is so underrated icl
As a Leeds fan I confirm the opposite 😂
W all due respect, I think he's overrated and overhyped bc he's american at least to American media. I think he's average. He kind of got found out when he was coaching for RB Leipzig. He's not awful but I wouldnt say he's amazing.
@@johnp8388 i know what u mean but i’m referring to the incredibly low standard set by american managers/ coaches n surprisingly he’s a lot better than that n if not on par w some of the lower teams in the prem.
What if you can be a great manager and not win? Are those things mutually exclusive?
@@pruett89 when did i say that?? 😭
Nice guy, good tactician , and a clever man. Didn’t make it with Leeds , but then nobody else has , at the end of the day, it’s up to the players. Succeeding at the top end of this sport , is very difficult. Should be the USMNT coach.
It's funny to me how English people sneer at what Jesse Marsch says about belief and togetherness. Maybe instead of condescending about it, be self-aware enough to think about why that dismissive attitude may contribute to why they haven't won a tournament since any of us were born and are famous for choking in penalties. Obviously with the talent that the US has even when they punch above their weight they aren't winning the World Cup, but when has England ever punched above their weight? If they had, they would have actually won something by now.
Shots fired! 😂 Just wait until we have to listen to that god-awful rendition of "it's coming home" again this summer for the Euros. One of my all-time favorite trolls was the Italian twist on that - "it's coming to Rome!"
Why are England taking up so much space in your little head? Always seems to be the case with you Americans….seem a bit obsessed
@@jon27dperhaps watch the Copa America and focus on your own home nation? Just a thought, you guys are like weird stalkers
@@CMJames 🤡
All that’s great. He didn’t win. W.I.N. Not a winner. Great talker
Wow! Did Jesse go to state in high school. I was supposed to be the main weapon to beat Madison West in 1991 as a junior. Did I miss out on an opportunity to play against Marsch at state? Lol!
I played in the WI state final in 1990 (against Marquette). I also wonder if I ever played against Jesse.
@jasondbaker In 1990 Madison West had a play, they would do called the wagon wheel. It was kinda like their version of tiki taka.
I interrupted them in the middle of their possession play and someone screamed out "he busted the wagon wheel!". LOL!
Jesse went to Racine Case if I'm not mistaken. I won state in 89 as a junior at Cedarburg and went again my senior year in 90 and don't recall them ever making it. Then after high school I played club soccer with him for a couple years. Got a chance to meet back with him and his wife when he was coaching the Red Bulls in the US Open Cup. We still somewhat talk to this day. He's a good guy and I wished he would have taken the job but oh well
Nice guy. If he is in Italy I hope he can coach in Italy I think he is better than Bruce Arena
Marsh, "i called him because he said some things."
Dempsey, "What did he say? What did he say?"
Marsh, "that im not the right coach for the USMNT"
Dempsey, " DAAAAAAAAAAMN" 😂😂😂😂😭😭

Abdos accent in this definitely had an American twang, but when she's with Carragher, Micah etc she doesn't!! She switches it up for her audience, though it seems she isn't aware she does it!
Trust me she is absolutely aware of it, she’s just THAT talented. She’s the best at her job, carved her own space in football.
I’d read a biography of his
And we re-signed GGG....geez...we need this mentality on a home soil WC
Yeah I just don’t know if his style works in the international game, like the Prem teams would just sit back and counter.
I’ve been saying this for almost a year and a half now, Marsch is our guy. EDIT: Canada just snagged him and it’s gonna come back to haunt the United States. Mark my words.
If he’s your guy then I’d be very concerned
Great interview but he still didn't answer why Ricardo Clark started over Mo Edu
He should be the manager to lead the USA in 2026
that sweater dosnt really shout manager charlie
Kate, Leipzig is a beautiful city :D it is not small. It has 600k
get Eddie Johnson on the show, super unfiltered and get him talking youth development
please hire him for national team coach. ggg is just out of his depth internationally
Charlie Davies a coach? C’mon now!
thought he couldn't do worse as a commentator and he will😂
If Marsch isn't in charge of USMNT by the World Cup, it's the biggest failure in the history of US Soccer.
i hope he learnt from the Leeds experience, first season - he survived with his style of play by fine margins. second season - he got his players in (Brendon Aaronson, Weston McKennie, Tyler Adams, Max Wober, Rasmus Kristensen) and most could not cope in the Premiership.
his tactics got found out. Watching Leeds that season, it was good positive football - but every team found that weakness of positioning too high up the pitch and pressing way too high and had beat leeds on the counter. It felt like he had no plan B or C - to change games and should of been sacked earlier to refresh the team.
He talks a good game, but do I think he is ready for a top level team, NO. He has had short stays in European teams for a reason. He needs a few years at a mid level team and have a few consistent seasons before getting USMT job. He has good ideas, but once his tactics weakness get found out - he cannot change the game (yet).
Jesse Marsch: please please gimme a job I wanna stay relavent
Kate is wife goals , she's just amazing isn't she
Whis he would've had a bit longer at leeds but once the suppors are finished then your time is done.
17:15 Hype is why The Hand of God scored against England!
The way they improve is they merge CONCACAF and CONMEBOL. There shouldn't be two separate leagues. There aren't that many teams. It would be beneficial for both. The US is never going to improve if they are competing against Trinidad or Belize to qualify for the WC. With the current structure, they are basically granted a bid. European teams have to fight tooth and nail against the other best countries in the world. Italy didn't even make the WC in 2022 because of that! Imagine one of the historical soccer powers and their competition is so tough they don't make it. They need to play Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay to push their level. Yes, they play friendlies against European teams but they need to have skin in the game against higher level countries to qualify for WC etc. It benefits those South American countries as well to add more depth and quality within their conference.
@CG68810, The U.S. has already tried to make the switch to CONMEBOL but unfortunately the CONMEBOL federation has denied their petition on two occasions due to the CONMEBOL team’s refusing their participation (because for the U.S. to compete in CONMEBOL there has to be a voting process with all the participating countries and there federations and if the majority votes are against their integration there’s nothing the U.S. can do) but for a brief time there were rumors about them trying to get themselves in to the AFC aka Asian Football Confederation in an effort to improve by facing better competition.
The only downside to all of this is that if the U.S. is able to compete in a region that is not CONCACAF it most likely will take years for that process to be completed and during that process the U.S. cannot play any matches until it’s done and since the federation only cares about money and not being successful in soccer I doubt the U.S. will ever become great in this sport.
God we need him for the USMNT, Berhalter is going to waste our World Cup
Charlie would be good in youth development
Charlie Davies is a hack
Jessie almost took down Liverpool in the champions league when he was coach RB Salzburg.
I think the US team has lost most of the grittiness these guys had but i also think it’s berhalter
I wanted Jesse to succeed at Leeds but he talked a good game but he brought in players that were not premiership. Or Leeds didn’t back him he has never criticised the players that came in. They were not premiership quality. ALAW MOT
The margin for error is so slim. There were so many games that Leeds dropped points at home after missing sitters inside the 6 yard box. They were still alive even on the final day.
Leeds got rid of him too soon. All the young players he brought in are doing fantastic this season
Practically all the players he brought to leeds have left mate, bar Rutter (practically didnt feature under marsch) and Gnonto (who marsch said wasnt ready and was a panic buy when gakpo wouldnt get off the plane).
Adams sued to leave leeds, sini too. Aaronson, wober, Kristensen, Roca, McKennie all begged to leave, and the ones technically on loan will never play for Leeds again. Although when Leeds get automatic some may try.
There is a reason this guy still hasnt had another managerial job, he wants a career in the media, good for him. But the mistake of the Leeds board was not sacking him earlier not giving him more time.
He's honestly dreadful, he doesn't have tactics, he's a vibes manager who thinks empty sloganeering is the way to get results, it isn't. You end up either spending games chasing the oppositions one nil lead or getting trounced. He was lucky to keep us up and I thank him for it but his successes in the second season where absolute flukes or the result of other teams being headless chickens (i.e. Chelsea)
@@n.p.d lol, gnonto summerville and rutter are all doing fantastic, thats who i was talking about
@@But_Sects he didn’t sign Summerville, and gnonto and rutter are doing fantastic (IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP), thanks to marsch, he can take zero credit and not one single Leeds player who still plays for us has said a single pleasantry.
How good can he be at his job he was kod almost a year ago mate, he was found out at the top leagues mate, no shame in it, I like marsch but he’s a bs artist. And he’s no manager.
Leeds should have gotten rid of him much sooner. He was like a cancer in that club. Plus almost every transfer has been a failure, especially all the Americans he bought. Thank God for Farke.
Mo didn't get a straight answer on why they started Rico over him
Leeds fan here. Wish he remained. Great coach
Not sure Michael would have been happy with him sharing the story and not be there to discuss.
Maurice Edu saying that USA has surpassed Mexico is so wrong. Not even close.
I think Jesse is a nice guy but it wasn’t his tactics that kept us up. It was raphy. Good luck to him though
It is very, very tough to win in the EPL, without enough talent. Specifically, with a poor defensive back 4. Leeds just didn't have EPL quality at the back, and when Tyler got hurt, "the wheels just fell off" the bus - so to speak.
Wish he had more time at Leeds man was such a good manager playing good football was just very unfortunate
"yeah...not great!"
I think Bob Bradley in England was a total disaster but I actually liked Jesse, think he could get another job somewhere, high championship low prem.
16:47 Kate cutting through his word salad bs 🤫
Lotta talk not a lot of winning
Why is Charlie Davies still invited to these
I'm sure he has blackmail on someone.
an example of what not to do if you want to be taken seriously
Should have taught them defense first. Unfortunately he was doomed at the start because hes american and leeds didnt have the players for his style, but overall hes a solid manager.
If Leipzig would be in England it would be the 3rd biggest city…
Of course her German ist super. She is British. Na logo!
She was a news/sportscaster in Germany or on a German channel.
Oh Jesse, what a good car sales man.
How tf did Leeds get rid of this dude
💀
OMG Jessie. Good talker, nice guy BAD MANAGER! I mean who thinks it’s good idea putting Raphinha at right back and play so narrow with a host of wide players 🤯 Stick to the talking and leave the coaching to others. Bielsa made me love football Marsh made me hate it! ALAW MOT
How we replaced bielsa with this absolute charlatan of a football coach is beyond me to this very day
This interview made people forget about Marsch’s RECENT record at RB and Leeds 😂
When Marsch was at Leeds he was terrible at in-game management.
Bro aint never going back to prem unless he brings in a lague one team
Hate to say it but I think there is enough of a sampling size to say Jesse is not a good coach and will likely bring down the Canadian national team. Every coach goes into a situation where there is disarray or challenges in getting a team to succeed. You could even argue that Jesse was going into a Leipzig gig that was pretty decent and he still failed. Leeds was an utter disaster because he could not adapt to the Premier league style of play or get the best from all of his players (not just from the Americans). Bright side of things from Americans perspective is they no longer have to worry about the Canadians.
Jesse needs to stop talking. Why would he contact the journalists and exude that level of energy. What a waste of time. Focus on getting results and the public perception he so desperately craves will sort itself out
Sorry to burst anyone’s bubble, but he was truly terrible coach at Leeds, talked a good game and talked and talked…and talked but was caught out of his depth, nothing personal just out of his depth
Pretty easy to be "out of your depth", in the EPL, on a relegation-LIKELY team, that lost its best players, and was in desperate need of ALOT of talent. Happens EVERY season, where multiple coaches of truly fair capability cannot "save" a team from relegation. Sometimes there is enough talent, and sometimes there isn't and coaches don't have a magic wand. I will give you the opposite example in which sometimes a coach steps in and gets very lucky in which there is ALOT of talent, and he uses the correct tactics = Tuchel taking over at Chelsea and wining the UCL! The same problem got him fired a year later; no magic wand.
What on earth is up with Kates accent?!? I thought she was English
I'm an American Leeds fan who was a fan before Marsch and all the American players. He did not do a good job at Leeds or RB Leipzig. He was good at RB Salzburg who are almost always the best team in their league. He is probably the most successful and qualified current American manager and I would have no issue with him being the next USMNT coach. However he is not a proven manager at the top level and his next job is pivotal because its been two failures in a row for him at the highest level.
Ugh ... when people in football try to be personalities it's so cringe. Of course ... exceptions can be made, ie George Best. But he was a one off.
Her German is better
Btw I don’t know any of this people at all, CZcams just recommended me this video 🖖🏻
Clearly Marsch is an upgrade from Berhalter, but US Soccer likes Berhalter’s superior “cognitive” skills. Still waiting to see these skills. What a joke.
Haaland timestamp?

Welcome To Korea.
If he is USMNT coach he will start brendo over Tillman and Gio, he will not be better than Gregg
