Crits are so terrifying. You have to have such amazing situational awareness, reaction skills, and handling skills.

from riding with riders better than you i find it so much easier with local group rides i find most of the time its fast slow over and over but if you ride with three or four of the best of the whole group that group will always go up the rode faster and have better turn. Even racing as a cat 3 i hated racing in 4/5 it was a group ride from hell. From perry rubber unlimited rides it was always easier riding with them any other group the turns were smooth.

Good video and analysis as it's unfolding. Great editing and teaching about mistakes made and what you were thinking. Also, I see it's important to "know" your competition and what they're capable of, who to follow etc. I'm new to racing so this is a great tutorial

Great race man! Love the way you tell the story with text, I hate doing the voiceover, but love hearing the thoughts of the racers. This is a nice compromise. I'll probably start doing that on mine :) You guys were crushing those last laps, again nice racing!

Typed Legion in the title to get people to click on the video, lol, I can dig it. The Williams Brothers and Legion occupying some space in your mind on this one. Strong race for everyone, to include yourdelf and you're strong enough to seal the deal on 9th with all of the notable riders and teams pulling out for their reasons. A non biased viewer shouldn't be able to feel envy through the video. Good race my man 👍🏾

Drew, awesome content. I was at Tulsa this year in the Masters 1/2 field, what an event. You mentioned a "foot down drill" in this video, can you elaborate on what that is?
Foot down is a game that a lot of junior teams play at training and skills camps. You get everyone in a grass field, make a circle with cones and everyone rides inside the circle until they touch the ground with their foot and then they are out. Last man standing wins. Just helps you get more comfortable riding a bike, navigating obstacles and track standing.

So let’s talk about the so called Legion lead out demise? Is it possible that those guys dropping off from the Legion team are done pulling their turn at the front? Just my two cents. Looks to me like Legion did very well at Tulsa. Maybe I’m missing something
It was the fact that Justin and Cory (their sprinters) pulled off before the trains really started going. The other guys were just pulling off being done with their final pull....they just didn't have the sprinters with them.

Cade got a spare in the pits and got back in the race but we didn’t see him the rest of the race because he had some stomach issues as well. Good question.

The barriers suck with all the metal holes to get caught in, and the metal feet that stick out onto the riding surface.. Too bad they don't have barriers that are closed solid with nothing protruding onto the course.

Legion demise if they still had a good amount of guys in top ten. Cory and Justin aren’t always the go to guys, sometimes its Sam sometimes its ty or Tyler. All you ask is to do your best and hope for fortunate results.
Your race intuition is awesome! This is your years of riding experience and hard work paying off! Thanks to your videos and the ones from Norcal I'm going to start training for a year to compete in a crit. They seem fast paced and technical which I like a lot. So far I've been riding easy rides outside to build up my endurance before I start trying to do any interval workouts.
