Can you hear your solenoid click, the starter spinning, but not engaging and starting your bike? Chances are your starter clutch has gone out. Tune in with Steve as he takes you through the proper steps for replacing a worn out starter clutch on a 2018 Yamaha YZ450F. This process will work for 2018/2019 YZ450F's and 2019 YZ450FX's, but should carry over to other model years with not many changes.

Had the same issue. Replaced the starter clutch as shown in the video. Now the bike won't crank up at all. Just hear the rough beep sound when I press the start button. Any idea what might be the issue?
What size socket is that center nut?

Yes, you can still drain the oil even if the bike won't start.
new starter clutch assembly came with sir clip? in video doesn’t look like he used it? old one didn’t have it in it either
What circlip are you referring to?
I seen it also I had this issue bought the new starter it came with a circlip but cannot be installed with the starter clutch. I installed it without it and the problem is the same issue ha not been resolved

Got a yz450f 2018 only with 14hrs use from new ) and this is happening if I bump
Start the bike it obviously runs and after it has been bump started it starts off the bottom first time every time but from cold it’s hard to start and makes this noise really annoying , should I replace starter clutch ? Subscriber from Scotland 🏴 any help appreciated tearing my hair out
Battery is fine 13.2vs as stated in handbook
Mine has the exact same problem I jumpstart and it works and then the button works but when cold the button doesn’t work. Did you find the problem?

Yes you can do that. If you go to the OEM parts finder and look at the starter clutch assembly, you can see the individual parts of the starter clutch that can be replaced.

Can you add electric start to a 2019 450f is there a kit. I so should have bought the upgrade when purchased the bike I hate kick starting it
It doesn't look like there are any electric start kits out right now. I would try to contact the dealer you got your bike from and see if they have some more information on how to add it to your bike.

Even after replacing your bike steal doesn’t start mine is making the noise like in the beginning of the videos but just won’t start bought a new one just haven’t installed yet..
Where the is Yz250fx 2020 stator Clutch
It will be located behind the clutch housing assembly. If you go to our OEM parts finder and enter your bikes information, then click on the clutch schematic you can see where everything is located.

I have a 2020 YZ450F and mines won’t crank I just hear the solenoid click and the starter turns the motor just a bit and completely stop can someone please help me bike is not even a month old
ThAt happened to mine had to rebuild bottom end

went to lay my bike down just like that and gas started leaking everywhere
Is it coming out of your gas cap vent hose? There should be a check valve in there that you will want to check is working properly. You can also just pinch the line or plug the hole while you do this job.
@@rmatvmc not sure but i know the bike was flooded from trying to start it so there’s gas in the oil so not a big deal have to drain the oil anyways
