I liked resistance training and weight lifting the best. Combined with keto I once managed to get my body fat down to 14%. I couldnt maintain that level though :-).
What is a proper weight or kg of kettlebell a female should use in order to lose weight
@@paradisefiji8583 it depends on your strength and goals! Eating will matter most but a heavy kettlebell will help
Conditioning with swings! 12 minutes, twice a week. That really shed some pesky weight. 12 minutes is tough. I take breaks to catch my breath, but once it's over I feel amazing!
My feet and ankles had gotten week from with the years and in activity. Swings made me use my toes for stability and balance and that fixed my arches and my ankles got stronger immediately! Swings literally restored my gait back to normal.
Those are just a couple of the many benefits I've gotten from doing swings. Will never stop doing them.
@@eddieg9506 awesome to hear 🔥 🔥 🔥
60 year old lady here.👋
I actually thought I was going to swing my 15# kettlebell for 100 reps but I lost my breath after 25 swings! I'm working on building my endurance so I'll do 25 reps with 30 - 60 seconds of rest and see how that goes.
Try 8 kg
Kettlebells will make you deceivingly strong as well. What I mean is, though your physical appearance may not change much, you will become freakishly strong in a relatively short amount of time.
Couldn’t agree more. Definitely a great way to boost strength without packing on mass
I agree … I have become sexly strong ! When I swing my golf clubs I m jazzed too
@@jackmwa902 😆😆😆😁😁🤣🤣🤣👊🏻
Personally noticing this. Even if I'm not using my kettlebells often, using them with any weekly frequency has made me quite a bit stronger and increased my cardio.
Definitely say kettlebelling is incredibly affective for strength and cardio
Agreed. I use kettlebells and indoor rowing. Uber strong without the bulk.
I have been doing 100 kettlebell swings along with other kettlebell workouts 3x a week, for a month. I lost 16lbs!! Granted I also cut out sugary beverages and drink 100oz of water a day. But yes kettlebell swings are a great exercise for total fitness and weight loss compared to other regimens I have done in the past!
Hey. Great job. It all adds up!!
100 swings per? day? per 3 days? so 1 day swings, 2 days not, 1 day swings, 2 days not and 1 day swings? or what?
January 2023
Started:334 lbs 42-44in. waist- 3 times a week
4x25 KB swings, 20lb KB
4x25 push-ups/knee
30 sec plank
Now: 275lbs 36-38 waist
4x25 KB swing 75lb KB
4x25 Full Push-up
2 minute planks
I’m bench pressing 95 lb dumbbells 3x10
Got down from a 58 waist to a 40.
Incredible, congratulations.
@@SchuyFit Thank you. 50lbs more to go. I was 5'9" and 325lbs!!!
You did only swings ?
@@iqbalmossodeea6844 folk put down included.
Wow how long did that take,?
In 2020 I completely changed my training. I went Kettlebell only. And I started with a very simple program. 10 minutes a day. Every day and on the 7th day I only did Turkish get-ups for 10 minutes. I dropped 38 pounds within the year, and I went from a 40-inch waist to a 36. My strength increased in all my kettlebell work and calisthenic work. I'm sold out on Kettlebells.
It’s crazy I did the same thing I stopped traditional weight lifting and went to kettlebell only. The amount of changes I noticed are incredible. Best decision I made regarding fitness. Very dynamic/functional training that will actually benefit you in real life.
@Max Belfort I agree with everything you said there. To true.
I just picked up a kettle bell and I like it. What do your guy's routines look like?
@toosas the traditional movements, in my humble opinion, are the best to use. If you learn how to do proper turkish get ups and sold KB swings (it's a hip hinge, not a squat), you will see great results in many, many areas. Strength, mobility, cardio, and just better movement over all in daily life. Then, after you become proficient in those moments, then start looking into other things, such as goblets squats, overhead presses, squat thrusters, and clean and jerks. Just my thoughts though.
Best investment during covid. Got 1 35lb kettlebell and I can do all my exercises and don't have to be at the mercy of the gyms.
Only swing?
Absolutely.
Heck yes! One piece of equipment that’s a must if you’re going the bodyweight route. Still use 35 or have you bumped up?
I agree, I just purchased an adjustable kettlebell.😊
Same! Im in Melbourne and knew it was going to be a hell winter so we got a whole set. Its been the bomb!
My man, the kettle bell got me skinny. It was easy, kicked my butt, and was the most effective compound exercise piece of equipment I have ever used. When it gets hard, just make it a competition between you and the kettlebell. I promise it will make you more fit in less time than any other exercise equipment can accomplish.
Love it man! Any idea how much weight you lost?
Can you share any program or regime you used? I’m trying to switch over to more usage of it.
This and gymnastics rings
Dude, i am kinda stuck with being overweight and i am looking for 1 'golden excercise' .
How much weight should i use?
Kettlebells have changed my life. I started with one now I’ve got a collection, including an 85 pounder
So awesome to hear man!
Thats fucking awesome. I weigh 81kg and can dead lift 160kg, but I can barely lift my 30kg kettlebell above my head.
I am 57 & have been doing kettlebell swings with Tracy Reikind. I bought her book about 4 months ago. Absolutely love to swing the kettlebell makes me feel so good. I swing a 18.5 lb kettlebell
So awesome! Glad it's helping.
I'm 49 and after some injuries I'm getting back into exercising by way of the kettlebell. It's only been a month but I've literally my fountain of youth to get my functional mobility and core strength where it should be. Like medicine, but better. Bouncing up the stairs once again like in my 20s. No more headrushes when I stand up from squatting. I get the dopamine and stress relief that comes with running, minus the injuries. I couldn't be happier with this method of staying in shape and feeling like I can tackle whatever life throws my way. 💪
Dude that's awesome!!!! Congrats!
Amen 😊
Tell us more. How long you been using and your weight and height and size kettlebell you started with and routine.
@@nadeemshabudin556 it's been 10 months now. I started with a 15lb kettlebell to break my body in and get used to all of the movements. I read Enter the Kettlebell a few times (actually all the time for like two months) and watched the video carefully. I did the RKC Minimum program with the 15lb for 3 weeks weeks and then increased to a 35lb for a 3 weeks. During that time my body adjusted really well and I knew I was ready to move forward. Everyone is different, so listen to your body and move at your own pace.
Next I completed a 13 week Rite of Passage program with the 35lb, alternating pull-ups in between each clean and press, like Pavel recommends. Strength gains come week over week and there's a huge payoff in daily activities! There's some hypertrophy, but that's not really the main focus. I did Turkish Get Ups on my variety days, among other things. It's important to remember not to overdue it with a bunch of exercises on variety days so you don't overload your nervous system and burn out.
Currently, I'm in the middle of the next Rite of Passage program with a 50lb kettlebell. I'm much stronger than I was even a month ago. When I began using the 50lb, it really was a bit too heavy, but I took my time, rested longer in between ladders, and started over to allow my body to get used to the weight. That has paid off as I'm cruising through now and just continue to increase in strength, literally every week. I do weighted pull ups and all sorts of variations. I'm even working on muscle-up progressions.
On my variety days I do TGUs with the the 50lb and Power to the People Deadlifts (read the book by Pavel Tsatsouline). Again, taking it easy and getting stronger every week. It's a great feeling!
Nutrition and rest are super important! Staying injury free is always my first priority, but you're gonna get nicked up from time to time. It's inevitable, but that's okay. It builds character 😎 just make sure to address issues as soon as they come up. Be good to yourself 👍

At 59 when I saw the shit about to hit the fan (Covid) I went out and got 10lb Kettlebells and 2.5lb wrist weights. Best decision ever. High rep, great form, 1 hr workouts. The swing I would say is the hardest to get correct and the benefits just keep coming. I’m in excellent shape.
Great video. Thank you for doing, and sharing, the research.
Thank you for your videos on kettlebell swings. They are among the best I've seen and learned from.
Awesome video. Thanks young man.

_Great stuff man and I really dig the way you keep my attention in your videos .... very cool cinematography!_

I currently do 100 reps during my leg day but I go much lighter in weight. I can definitely increase the weight and start to see bigger gains. Great video!!!
Thank you so much for this explanation. I am in my 60s and now doing my kettle bell swings with you every morning and I absolutely love it! It is really perfect for me.
That’s so great to hear! I’m glad it’s working for you.
Thanks for the science behind the kettle bell swing. I don’t use it as much as I should-so this motivated me to pick it up more.
Great! It's definitely a great exercise :)
I have just started using a kettlebell and am already amazed. I bought my first 2 bells fairly light because I am recovering from rotator cuff surgery and didn't know what to expect. Just using the 17.6 pounds in a swing with disciplined form hit my abs quickly especially controlling momentum. I'm excited about the possibilities. As a side note, I'm using a smaller bell for alternating snatches and my shoulder is loving it.
Thanks, I will try it!
I've done kettlebells before, but looking at your video and understanding the impact, I will start to incorporate them again. Thank you!
Great! Wednesday we have a video coming out on form, so keep an eye out

The kettlebell is awesome! I'm going to try to do 25 reps and then 50 reps The cardio that it gives you is unbelievable and the strength in your legs and your upper body and your core is is the real deal
Kettle bell training HIIT is by FAR the best thing that I ever used to get freakishly strong 💪🏼

Gonna mix in some kettle bell with my burpee routines. Thanks for the clear info on the swing.
Great to hear, you'll definitely love it! What weight are you going to use?
Thank you so much for the motivation. I had a total thyroidectomy in December, and despite never being skinny - but healthy (over 50, overweight, non diabetic, no heart disease, 31 years vegetarian \vegan) i still had the exact same hereditary issue of thyroid cancer. Its more frequent with women, but women & men in my family have had this same issue. 3 months post surgery, i had gained 14 POUNDS! The doctor wasn't worried in the least. Turns out gaining 20 - 30 pounds right after this type of surgery is considered normal because your thyroid regulates metabolism. Medicine accepted this, but i couldn't. I couldn't do a lot of excessive training because you need heavy breathing & the throat is exactly where my stitches & dense scar tissue are. So i looked at my dusty kettlebell sitting on the floor near the tv. I was deconditioning swiftly, & i just took a hopeful chance. I've only been back at it for 6 weeks with a 2 week break (due to tearing scar tissue by just turning the wrong way in my sleep. Trust me. You never want to wake up coughing up blood 😫). Anyway. You just motivated me to stick with it. I was really scared after reinjury... It really is helping with balance, strength, and most importantly its gigging my metabolism a little. Wherever you may be in your life reading this... Don't give up. No matter what your doctor will accept, you don't have to believe the same. Today, i will workout. Honestly, i couldn't have done it without you. New subbie!
This is SO awesome 🔥 congrats on dusting yourself off and getting back to it.
Good luck!
Nice video. One of the reasons for making my own KB was to go heavy with KB swings. Here KBs have become difficult to find, most are low weight and are really expensive. I made my own with a basketball filled with concrete and the handle is from PVC. Is not super heavy, just 36 pounds, but for the swings and other exercises like one-leg deadlifts, goblet squats, and others is more than enough.
That sounds awesome. I'd love to look into how to do that!
Looking forward to starting. Will be using as a beginner.
Great to hear! It’s okay to start lighter, you’ll figure out your strength quickly
Great advice! I just bought some kettlebells and excited to start
Very nice! What weights did you grab?
100 10 kg kettlebell swings a day, I feel, is all I need for life. Making it a daily routine is the key. The exercise double as the best communication tools to know your physical condition. Some day you have to swing really easy to just finish the set amount. Some day you want to continue on to heavy deadlift work out. But you do it every day. That’s a journey by itself with great benefits. Highly recommended.
Completely agree! Thanks for sharing. I documented 200 swings a day with 70lbs if you wanted to check out that video!
Can you do this while also lifting 6 days a week?
I'm scared of injuries, though I'd love to do it daily. At the moment I'm limiting myself to every other day, 40s on/20s off x 4 (about 125 swings). Might try doing it daily and see how the body responds.
Good tips
Got my first kettlebell 😍
Will resume today...swing is great calorie burner
I'm doing KB swings. 24kg. 45 minutes. 10 swing everytime...stop and start only when the heart beat reach 120.... Total 45 minutes. Results awesome.
Impressive!
45 minutes seems excessive to me!
Currently doing it and I enjoy it. Thank you so much for taking a scientific approach to why this works. As a Master's prepared registered nurse I need to know WHY things work and not simply that they do. Way to many "experts" just want you to trust them without any science to back it up. I will be adding the information from this video into my routine. Already doing the swing with some other movements, but will be adding what I learned here to get the most out of it.
Great to hear!! This comment made my day, thank you
Thanks 😊
The way I lost weight and got muscle was kettlebells and jump rope. Yes I did other things like sprints and barbell work, but it was like my religion. Jump rope only requires you to get half an inch off the ground while firing multiple muscles repeatedly. Kettlebells do the same but you are getting the benifits of power AND strength. Good stuff.
The Wisconsin study analyzed various forms of kettlebell exercises and not just the standard two-handed swing. But I get the impression that the two handed swing is in the long-term the best conditioner out of all of them.
This is so useful. You are absolutely right. I just started with very light weight KB and I can still feel a difference in my endurance level. Thanks for sharing this wonderful info with us. Looking forward to learn more from you.
I have a few kettlebells laying around the house. I’d stopped the kettlebell swings after I injured my left wrist.(trying the heavier kettlebell figure eight’ swing at a fitness store) now after I saw your video. Motivate me to use kettlebell again. Starting a lighter weights 15lbs then work myself to a heavier kettlebell. My left wrist isn’t 💯 percent recovered yet. So I will wait for a month or longer to do the figure 8 swing. Cheers..

I am tired of doing youtube cardio based workouts. I used to do F45 - 45 mins of hiit alternating between cardio one day and weights another and always loved the weight workout the most. I think i will now stick with my kettlebell and jump rope
The kettlebell swing is amazing! Was addicted the first time I tried them awesome benefits.

Beginners to kettle bell adapt really quickly to programming from the beginning. I think 30 seconds on 30 seconds off is great training 2 or 3 times a week but should have programmed progression from the beginning. Start with just five rounds and increase one every workout until you reach rounds in 20 minutes.
Then either move to a heavier kettlebell and start again at 5 rounds this time increasing 1 round every other workout or start again this time training one minute on 30 seconds off increasing every other workout until 20 rounds in 30 minutes is reached.
This approach will will almost guarantee significant strength, endurance and cardio improvement.

Momentum is the tendency for something to stay in motion once in motion. Swinging the bell back and forth just recycles the energy you spent the first swing. You’re investing little energy with subsequent swings when compared to the first.
Thanks bae I love to do kettle bells
My first experience with kettlebell swing was a massive shock. I was sore for the rest of the week lol
I used to run 2 to 5 miles almost daily. But of course I injured my knees and now I can’t even run with my dogs for a short time without feeling pain. I started doing kettlebell swings only, because I hate the elliptical and bikes. And weight training at the gym is not my thing. I walk a lot, which is great cardio, but just using a 20pd kettlebell has given me a lot of strength in the last two weeks. I’m hoping to move up to 25 pounds soon as the 20 is slowly becoming easier. And it helps with existing knee and back pain
That’s so awesome to hear. It definitely can help a lot of those small pains
@@SchuyFit exactly! It’s such an under rated movement
I do day on day off weight training. Kettlebell swings and dead hangs on the other days. 5 sets of 20 on the swings.
Effective workouts for me are typically 45 to 60 minutes long and have some rowing, walking, hit pushups to exhaustion(it really isn't that many), as close to some pull ups I can get, and some moving around weights in varied ways. I ussaly go for challenges that make me tired with three sets of 7 but I am starting to try three sets of 36 with lighter weights.
Sounds pretty effective! Are you seeing good results from it?

Definitely make sure you’re using a weight you can control and definitely using the right form. I have a video on the form that may help
I love the swing but snatch are my best move :-)
I like kettlebells. Can't go to the gym with all the lockdowns. But the bells enable me to still workout on a regular basis.
Agreed. What weight do you usually swing?
@@SchuyFit I've got a 10 kg, 14 kg, and a 20 kg bell. I use he 14 kg for single-arm exercises like the snatch. The 10 I mostly use to add weight when I do single-leg squads.
@@blackadder564 Sounds great.
Superb information!
What is the way to choose right weight to get maximum benifit for man & woman .
I would go to your local store and swing them. If you're a beginner, I'd start with a weight that you can get for 30 reps before having to rest. As you get more experience, you can go heavier.
I do 400 kettlebell swings a day. I use a 50 pound kettlebell and do ten sets of forty swings. I use one arm, in alternating sets of five reps each arm…five swings with my right arm them five swings with my left arm (no rest) alternating sets of five reps until forty are done. Most times, I max my heart rate out at over 200 BPM (my heart rate monitor only goes up to 210 BPM) and have to lay down in the shade until my heart rate returns to “normal”. Usually I do Janda sit-ups, flutter kicks, or planks until my heart rate returns to normal.
400?! I'm gonna try 500 now I'm inspired
@@heavenlypath1065 Just work up to any total…you don’t have to do things overnight….and listen to your body. If something hurts, stop doing it.
i am so very new to this, what weight would you suggest.
I'm 68. Gonna try your kettle bell routine. Never used them before. I'm 23% FAT AT PRESENT. Want to get below 20.
Awesome. Diet will matter the most to get to that bodyfat, but kettlebells will help. You've got this!
