And the fact that he was able to take a moment and collect himself and apologize shows a lot of character. And the way DC talk to him calmly and firmly shows what a class act he is. This is how adult interaction should take place.

He has been knocked out five times in his career. Every single one of them were clean KOs where he lost consciousness -- not TKOs to unanswered strikes. Four of those five KOs have happened in the past two years or so. That is an atrocious amount of concussive damage for a fighter to sustain in a very small amount of time. It gets worse when you consider that even in some of the fights he won -- Daukaus, Imavov, Winn -- there were moments that he got rocked despite the fact that those guys are not known for having crazy power. Two of the three aren't even strikers. This is putting aside the fact that Roman Dolidze also tore up his knee with a lateral kneebar prior to KO'ing him... which is just one more bit of wear & tear on Phil's body. Lateral pressure on the knee is actually worse than the standard back-and-forth hyperextension of a "regular" kneebar IIRC. It tends to do more damage quicker and doesn't heal the same way -- mostly because it involves attacking the knee joint in a way it isn't meant to bend *at all*. Considering Phil is a guy who relies heavily on his athleticism... a knee injury like that alone could be pretty bad news, especially at his age (mid-30s).
