Nice job, once it’s all sorted I can see somebody like S&S making a new cylinder kit if the demand is there.

Awesome. Was this a custom bike or did Baxter's have you do it for them? I could see Baxter's making a cool custom big bore Enfield and putting it on their showroom floor. (Nevermind....a few seconds after I wrote this comment you mentioned you're doing it for Baxter, so no need to answer. I kinda figured that was the case.)
Baxter Cycle seems like such a cool place. I've gotten to explore it through some of those Fuzzy Biker videos. The selection of old gas tanks hanging from their walls is just as impressive as the bikes themselves. I wish there was a place like that near me. A massive selection of vintage british bikes and parts plus quality mechanics and a kick ass machinist on the property. Where else does something like that exist? As Fuzzy Biker would say, only in the mighty mini-tropolis of Marne Iowa.

I had a first year RE 650 and. Contemplated the 750 kit. I thought the 850 kit might have been incurring too much stress on the lower end.

That ISN'T an 865, technically it is 863cc. Triumph should have trademarked their 865cc designation. Some of us have around 10,000 miles on this S&S kit, I bought two kits and can't wait to get another Interceptor to use the second set on. The difference compared to stock 648cc/47hp is uncanny. I am running a 16-tooth front sprocket and 150/70 rear tire (11-percent over stock combined) and the bike has the same power and throttle authority as my Thruxton 900. It is lighter and has one more gear than the Triumph...no brainer.
Very much worth the effort, time and for me $1,100 including an S&S cam and the machine shop charge.

863 would sound a bit silly, i think it was a marketing move. either way its a rad kit

@@dirtyshirtrichter8647 it would separate the 863cc Enfield variant from the mainstream. Ask a Kawasaki W800 owner how many cc's his bike is and 99-percent of the time you get the truth.

I've always liked those little bikes but the displacement was always such a joke for a 250 lb guy
