    Amazing processor chains, incredible outboard gear here. Dbx160XT on guitars that's new for me. Thank you so much for that kind of videos! So inspiring. Cheers from Buenos Aires.

    Wow this was really nice. I appreciated how you created a submix prior to going out of the box. I was curious about the Elysia as have been told they are pretty clean but effective. Has that been your experience? I saw where you gave them the thumbs up for guitars. Keep up the great work.

    Excellent video! Did they record on the Sound City Neve 8028? Those tracks sound marvelous!

    Lovely dude. Do you ever use the console’s eq?

    I noticed that the vocals were panned really wide during most of the mix. and then when I heard the final mix down I noticed you had narrowed it back more center like the album. 👌👌

      It was really cool to see your process though. It must be a lot of fun mixing on a console like that.

    • @RiotHomeRecording
      @RiotHomeRecording  Před rokem +2

      The vocals you hear panned left and right are doubled back up vocals. Then I added the main vocals up the center.

      to me the console makes the biggest difference. It adds depth, width, dimension and a very musical color.

      @@RiotHomeRecording So you only use the board for mixing, or also for tracking? Or do you just use your outboard mic pre's and go right into pro tools?

      I mainly use my outboard preamps to tape or protools. I do use the console preamps sometimes. They’re heavily colored.

    Man this is awesome! But how are you mixing with your speakers facing behind you? 😅

    • @PatrickPleau
      @PatrickPleau Před rokem +2

      Because I'm sure he knows how the speakers should sound in that perspective, Human are adaptive creatures :)

      Hi and thank you,
      When you listen to music are you staying in one spot not moving your head? Nope. My room is balanced pretty decently, not perfect, but I’m use to it. It doesn’t matter too much which way I’m facing as I’m hearing the music either way. Also, if im questioning where something is sitting in my mix. I check it listening from the other room with the doors closed. Trust me it will tell you if something like a vocal or guitar solo is too loud.
      Please try it an report back.

    Hey Steve!
    Quick question for Alan Smart and Xfilter combo:
    The 500 series Alan Smart lives on my mix buss. Looking to add XFilter but my only concern is how Xfilter might affect stereo image in case of unlinked processing (independant channels) with Alan Smart. This is a go to setting for me since it helps the stereo image a lot. Any personal experience?
