    ▪️ This video shows how useful are 'steering-wheel basting stitches' to close/sew the open lips of a sunvisor. It is advisable the use of standard thin thread (92= number 8)and a thin needle to do the handsewing.
    ▪️ This time I have used a thick leather 1.6 mm and it was necessary to skive its edge to 0.8 mm. The skiving was done 0.9 mm from the edge. Not so close to avoid a bulky edge. Just enough to let the cut seams deepen between and get an even surface.
    I would recommend the use of a soft and pliable leather whose stretchy side would be laid lengthwise of sunvisor.
    ▪️ For this demonstration I am using a very sturdy leather, therefore to put the cover onto the visor it was necessary to disassemble part of the sewing I did with the machine. Otherwise, it would have been very difficult to proceed.
    ▪️ An interesting tip is how to assemble back the sewing trying not to be noticeable. The blind handsewing was useful this time,but with two thin needles. I will do a next special video showing at detail the process. I hope you inspire and find this information useful!

      This sewing is a basting stitch very useful to attach/sew pieces together in difficult areas.
      In this video I used it to close the reverse edges of the armrest.

      Cesar does have a very old video where he does an older style sunvisor. The method in that video is similar to other videos on CZcams. You fold the material around the visor and then sew a stitch around the outside with the sewing machine. Very simple.

      Estimado Daniel, me da mucho gusto que este video lo hay inspirado. No olvide que el material sea cuero o vinil tiene un lado estirable y debe colocarse a lo largo de la visera/tapasol.
      Los viniles estiran a lo ancho y asi debe hacerse el corte.

      El grosor ideal de la piel/cuero para forrar una visera debe ser de 1mm. Es aconsejable también que el cuero sea flexible y debe colocarse en ese sentido a lo largo de la visera. Con estos 2 consejos evitaríamos el tip de descoser demasiado uno de sus extremos. Para esta demostración utilizé un cuero muy grueso 1.6 mm y fue necesario descoser bastante para lograr meter la funda en la visera/parasol. La 'costura ciega a mano con dos agujas' fue de vital importancia para cerrar esa parte tratando que no se note.
      ¡Muchas gracias nuevamente por apreciar este video!

    • @deltajohnny
      @deltajohnny Před 5 lety

      La costura ciega a mano y con dos agujas quedó impecable, y nadie habría podido pensar que no había sido hecha con máquina 👏👏👏👏👏
      Y desde luego ese cuero que ha utilizado era super flexible... Usted trabaja con materiales de muy buena calidad y sabe elegir muy bien la materia prima para sus obras de arte 😉😉😉👍👍👍

    • @Cechaflo
      @Cechaflo  Před 5 lety +1

      @@deltajohnny El cuero que uso en este video es demasiado grueso (1.6mm) y no es lo suficientemente flexible. Por tal motivo tuve que descoser bastante en un extremo para hacer que la funda entrara en la base de la visera. En el video anterior, de la visera blanca, el cuero es mas delgado(1.2mm). Para este caso solo descosí 1.5 mm. Hay cueros mas elásticos que nos permitirían enfundar sin tener que descoser ni un milímetro.
