I'm intrigued by Hive Fleet. Seems like they would have a lot of potential in the game as it currently stands, and the recent buff doesn't hurt. Thanks and keep up the good work!
Glad you enjoyed the video Randal, I do think there are still some viable teams in the compendium.
@@TabletopImpulse Agreed. With all the attention given to the newer teams I think many KT players are missing out on some compendium teams. On top of that list is Hive Fleet.

I will say that 10 Genestealers really requires good terrain. If you don’t have a board with lots of cover to use your super-conceal you’re going to get annihilated.
I agree that they should be quite nasty on ITD boards. I’d go 10 Genestealers instead of 5 G & 3 TW because synapse has to go around corners.
Yeah, I feel quite sure 10 Stealers would be awesome in the dark, thematic too.
"Not many things in the game that have 6, 12, or 18 wounds..." Phobos and Legionaries come to mind. Durable Intercessors are also a case where 6 damage crits matter. 6-1+6-1+4 is a kill with two hits plus a crit but 5-1+5-1+4 still needs a 4th hit.
And in combination with Feed, the first 6 damage crits go to 7 which one-shots most Tau, vet guard, blooded, etc models.
6+4 is also a big deal for Kommandos, some hunter Clade etc models though you can hit that with double rending claws as well (rending)

Hive Fleet was one of the teams I played early on, when learning the system. Coming back to them with a better understanding of the game and playing against bespoke teams has been really fun. They absolutely wreck Corsairs, every time.

Been playing killteam recently. My friend really loves his tyranids and has been using 6 tyranid warriors. 2 gunners Boneswords & venom cannons, and 4 operatives with bone swords & deathspitters. With reinforced chitin on leader & gunners. It’s a LOT better than you think! Similar to fighting intercessors, 18 wounds with power weapons in combat is no joke! 2 auto successes when you shoot them with non-plasma makes them tough to kill before they charge you. Their shooting his 5 attack dice, yes only 4+ so not consistent but one GOOD dice roll of 4-5 hits and that one shots most operatives! None of them are ever injured coz synapse & each turn a warrior gets 3 APL.
Is it top tier? No. But it’s definitely a viable team!
How do warriors get 3 APL?
@ using the tactical op :) you can give an operative within 6” an extra APL for 1 CP. i did say A warrior gets 3APL :) not the whole team. But it comes in clutch more often than you would think.
Yeah ok, the Six Warrior team does sound kind of interesting when you put it that way.
I still really like the Compendium teams! 10 Genestealers were the first team I played in Kill Team and they will be the first I will play on my ITD terrain as well once that is done.
I would be really interested about an IG review. Scions seem to be still somewhat popular!
Interesting to hear some folks still interested in the Compendium. I hear folks are still playing Scions, perhaps a Scions video would be warranted, I will think on it.
As a casual player, I much prefer the compendium teams.

Well yes, I suppose everyone will get a bespoke team eventually, if they had been that detailed from the start the compendium would have been a massive book!
Great overview. This is my favorite compendium team and I still enjoy playing them. Its unfortunate that as more bespoke teams are released its harder to justify bringing them against those teams. Not being able to measure synapse through walls on ItD is also a little rough but if we're going with the rule of cool this is my #1.

I actually would like to See a rundown of the compendium Demons. Thea Feed really different from the Gellerpox and probably still somewhat legit

Are you sure you don’t have a cat? Best check the closets. They can manifest directly from the Warp. Beasts of Chaos, you know.
Wouldn't necessarily take the Deathspitter on ranged. The Deathspitter and Devourer do roughly the same damage. The thing is that the Deathspitter spreads it over more dice, which is better on ranged.

I think I'll wait for a bespoke team. They just seem to be more fun than their compendium equivelents.
Generally I agree, but some folks do well with the lower cog load that comes from the compendium teams.
@@TabletopImpulse they are certainly great for teaching the game, with the added bonus that most people interested in learning will have at least one viable team from their old 40K stuff.

I played my Space Wolves Intercession Squad against compendium 'Nids last night. The game ended up a draw. 'Nids are legit. I just wish they would get an actual team.
Sounds like a cool game! What was your opponent running? 10 Stealers or something else? I think a bespoke Nid team will be on the way eventually, someone has to be last. I'd bet it will come in the summer to tie in with the launch of 10th edition.
@@TabletopImpulse I know he had stealers. Also whatever the units are that can take the acid pistol things. Also always in conceal is brutal.
