One benefit i've noticed about this whole mask hoopla is that i'm constantly told that my voice doesn't match my body and question if my voice is real or not. I'm a bass baritone and since I work in the outside garden area of home improvement store I wear a mask, sunglasses and a hat and since my entire face is concealed no one has questioned the way I sound! Strangely enough a customer that I helped before was looking for me and described me as a 55 year old man with grey hair. I'm blonde and 25.

Jay, thanks for this really valuable video with tips many of us would never think of. The time hasn't yet come for me to don a mask (I hope it never does) but I will now feel more comfortable should the day arrive! Stay well.

Nice advice from you! I dislike talking with masks because I can't see other people's facial expressions so thoroughly and others can't see mine as well.
Are there any transparent medical / ffp2 mask alternatives?
Sorry for my bad English. I'm from Germany.

Thanks. I'm sure such things exist but I have no idea how effective they are.

Should I wear a full on respirator?

I am a pastor and find it challenging to be understood by older parishioners. I enunciate and speak slowly but don’t know how to project to be heard. I feel like I’m yelling at everyone.

Is this just when speaking through a mask or has it always been the case?

A number of my friends are facing issues with a lack of confidence, having not spoken to others for several weeks. I've noticed some are also getting a fatty tounge. If you have any thoughts on those, that would be helpful please.

Thanks for the ideas. Can you explain what "fatty tongue" means?

@@voiceandspeech Thanks for the reply. It's what I suspect to be a weakening of the tongue muscles due to lack of use. Over here we call it a 'fatty tongue'.

Are they facing those issues due to not being heard through their face mask? It's a struggle to speak louder depending not he type of mask you have
